Apparently, BIS has acquired a new tool to pack and compile code or seems to replace BinPBO.

See these tweets by Pettka and Gekonn

Sounds like an i18n related tool by the #localization hashtag. :p

It might be faster, more efficient, easier to use or have cute name

There has to be something if two devs felt the urge to tweet it into the world ;)

Though it could also be a different tool

Yes! Thanks for the insight :)

Nice one, not direct hit, but at least miles closer :icon_twisted:

Alright, I'll bite.

You got a tool searches for i18n markers (STR_ or something) in the game files, checks for existence/validity in the localization tables/files and outputs files with missing results ready to be translated/sent to translators. It probably includes the reverse process where you can fill in the translations. Potentially also checks for hardcoded strings and outputs warnings that those things need to be translated.

At least that's what I would want/be excited about if I had to deal with multiple devs/languages on a codebase that spans 10 years and countless developers. :)

In case that's not it, and you have to do all that manually... :icon_twisted:

Yeah, because you deserve a fracking medal to play the alpha and support BIS.

No, that is very likely for Ivan and Martin.

For jerryhopper and others for their work on helpivanmartin.org

That's probably a medal for Martin and Ivan for what they endured. Even the Czech government got involved into the issue. See www.helpivanmartin.org for more details.

It's a Meritorious Service medal for the US Armed forces (The award is purely Military, not Civilian like, for example, Hero of the Soviet union, the Order of Australia or the George Cross, and only for US Military members), nothing Czech about it...

Maybe the medal is just representative? Now you've left me thinking.

Does that words "we have the tool" means they completed the Arma 3 engine code which went gold or ?

The problem is how "soon" it is. Internet soon, Valve soon......

Anyway this retweet by an BIS dev may be related?

Also, this.
