Gamespot Reader's Choice, vote for ARMA 3

Recommended Posts

Gamespot's Reader's Choice

ArmA III is nominated for Best PC Game, Best Shooter, Best Graphics, and Game of the Show.

Unfortunately it is getting its ass kicked by Battlefield 3 in everyone of those categories.

@Mods- Sorry if this wasn't posted in the right spot. I wasn't sure if I should put it with Press Coverage, E3 Coverage, or someplace else and I also thought that people might want to discuss it.

Not sure if winning best shooter is a actually a compliment?

Best graphics, maybe but only if everyone stops using that drug that makes them think high contrast is realer coz its closer to wearing sun glasses.

Best PC game, not sure we have enough fan boyz on twitter.

(I know, even I can be a L33t)

Considering that Arma 3 is very much a work in progress, with so few details known and so little demonstrated, will take at least one year to be ready (and it could be delayed even more) and that is targeting a smaller audience than big mainstream games, it has no chance.

Its a popularity contest. Arma is not popular.

It could go against everything else though if there was an award for complexity, scope and technical achievement.

There should sections for arcade shooters and semi realistic shooters. And both games come out in different years. ArmA3 could be shooter of 2012 if lucky.

Both CoD and BF3 would be in the semi-realistic category by the standards of the market.

I think a more accurate, flamewar-worthy term would be 'niche shooter' or 'B shooter.'

I think Battlefield deserves those awards better than Arma III. Just let me explain, Arma III is a simulation. That means that its main focus shouldn't be on graphics, not even gameplay. If it was it would just be another commercial shooter, but I like Arma because it goes against the grain of all the modern day war games. I play battlefield when I feel like a fun online gunfest with my friends. I wouldn't like to see Arma become a gunfest, just because I like to take my time now and then and play something that requires a little more tought.

I was even suprised that Arma III even got noticed by so many big gamemagazines and that it was nominated for these awards.

Now I'm not saying that Arma doesn't deserve those titles, in fact if Battlefield wouldn't be here I think it should get them.

But I just don't think that Arma III is a better game than Battlefield 3 in those catagories.

Seeing the state of completeness, I see no issue in BF3 getting the prizes.

A3 will get them next year ;)

BF3 does look great. The Frost engine is amazing but its still a corridor shooter at heart.

ARMA3 is a whole different approach with MUCH more depth. (game modes, vehicles etc.)

It may not be best shooter but easily best PC game.

As Pathetic Berserker said, its more about popularity so ARMA can't win. (this year...)

Arma 3 from the little footage I've seen looks amazing, BIS still got to fix the pop ins and the LOD's with the vegetation but the scale alone is amazing.

We will just have to wait to compare BF3 and Arma 3 Maxed out on PC when there both final products.

I think it's too early for Arma 3 to take part in such a contest. The only thing we've seen so far are some 15min of (admittedly amazing) ingame footage, a teaser trailer plus screens and artwork. Hard to judge a game on that.

Of course that doesn't mean I'm not convinced that Arma 3 will be great <:o))

ArmA 3 was barely even shown. Just a press-only demonstration that was a brief overview.

No surprise it got little attention.

Comparing Apples to Oranges..

BF3 LOOKS amazing , but that's about all.Would make a fine console game.

ArmA2 and 3 are innovative.

Best graphics is rated by people who think lens flare, over exaggerated bloom, and sunshafts are actually seen in real life. ;)

Jut the fact that it was nominated for so many prominent categories, especially "game of the show" is a very big and well deserved recognition. I wish it beat the shit out of BF3 in the poll, but I can understand that BF3 is more widely known.

95% of the human sense are acknowledged by visions, so BF3 can win 95% of all the gamer's eyes to the maximum.

Yet, only less than 10% of the actual knowledge were contained in an average human brain. ARMA series will make 10% of all the gamers adapt and having fun with real challenge.

Actually sun shaft do exists in real life, and so do the rest if you have greasy glasses or cheap camera.

BF3 does have the most hightech engine to date, even above Cryengine 3 in some fields, so it certainly deserves praises at least on that front.

Eyes-candy is sweeter than cruel, bitter war, you say.
