SWAT_BigBear 0 Posted June 2, 2011 https://www.facebook.com/#!/TakeOnTheGame For example, in Take On, max view-distance (how far you can see in-game) has been bumped to a massive 20km!
KorpeN 0 Posted June 2, 2011 Omg, that's amazing. A very useful feature for a total helicopter experience.
bobocz 10 Posted June 2, 2011 And today's picture is impresive. I think, due mist this is not 20km visibility example. Mayby helicopter is really far away from town, it's hard to estimate distance.
LeftSkidLow 1 Posted June 2, 2011 Well if you've lived in the Pacific NorthWest, I think you'd find that viewdistance to be accurate 9 months out of the year.
bobocz 10 Posted June 2, 2011 (edited) Well if you've lived in the Pacific NorthWest, I think you'd find that viewdistance to be accurate 9 months out of the year. I'm not complaining, actually I like it. I was already told that this is normal weather in Seattle. I'm only curious, older pictures seems have far better visibility. :) Edited June 2, 2011 by BoboCZ
blu3sman 11 Posted June 2, 2011 Strange choice for VIEWDISTANCE.jpg and post about 20km VD. I'd say it's around 5.:) Anyway looks very nice.

NeMeSiS 11 Posted June 3, 2011 https://www.facebook.com/#!/TakeOnTheGame It says max 20km, 10km is the max in ArmA2 in the options menu*, but almost noone is actually able to play with that. ;) *Mission editors can set it much higher if they hate their PCs enough. ryguy 10 Posted June 3, 2011 Flight simulator has been doing this since 2000... It doesn't mean it'll look good out to that far :p
ArmAriffic 10 Posted June 3, 2011 (edited) hope it won't mega lag with a higher VD Edited June 3, 2011 by ArmAriffic
jblackrupert 14 Posted June 3, 2011 Maybe Bohemia can get NASA to sponsor a LAN party. :)
Macadam Cow 1 Posted June 3, 2011 Well BIS said the maps were twice less detailled. so 2x less details + 2x max VD = the same :p
Remon 10 Posted June 3, 2011 Well BIS said the maps were twice less detailled.so 2x less details + 2x max VD = the same :p 2x less details is still much more than vanilla FSX or DCS. But what makes those simulations, or any sim, visually adequate or good isn't the floor mesh detail. Ground textures, lighting, water and clouds are much more important. Deadfast 43 Posted June 3, 2011 *Mission editors can set it much higher if they hate their PCs enough. Actually the limit is 15 km, the command ignores anything higher.
.kju 3245 Posted June 3, 2011 Since OA. In a1 and a2 50k was possible.
paragraphic l 2 Posted June 4, 2011 Nice cruiseship in the lower left of that picture. I guess they will add in lots of 'props' like those
ANZACSAS Steven 395 Posted June 4, 2011 In my sig is a screeny taken in ARMA 2 Co using 15klm veiwdistance set by player/script on the fly ingame. Its possible to adjust it to 20klm ingame/in mission. Not only is it possible but its also very doable atm in Arma2. The Bis terrain engine is an amazing bit of engineering. :)
viper[cww] 14 Posted June 4, 2011 I can get 20km view distance right now using Qom Province
DnA 5156 Posted June 5, 2011 ;1945501']I can get 20km view distance right now using Qom Province  But can you separately set your object view distance? ;)
snoops_213 75 Posted June 5, 2011 But can you separately set your object view distance? ;) Are you insinuating that the "object" max view distance has been increased aswell and is independently adjustable??? Holy shit yeah!!!!! Can't wait to see crossed over to other armaverse titles!!! 15,20 or even 50Km VD is possible in ArmA2 but the object veiw distance is only a fraction of this, so while having 50km VD looks good, its not really practical since all the vehicle models are only drawn out to about 3 or 4km if i remember correctly. There is a Proper Mod that adjusts the trees and buildings VD to something much higher but vehicles not possible. Oh i can't wait to see more details
ANZACSAS Steven 395 Posted June 6, 2011 @DNA, If i boot up OPF i can... :) Wait a sec...The object quality settings do that in Arma. Unless you mean turning the object draw distance right the way up to match view distance....That would be cool..Just gotta keep a fire extinguisher next to my pc... :)

Oh i can't wait to see more details Currently I still find the visuals to be better on around a 5k distance as the fogging isn't as distinctive and looks more natural. Manually setting it high the fog tends to stand out like a massive storm front way in the distance and even at 100k setting it is plain as day. I am hoping that with Take On and A3 they may have improver the dispersion of the fog to give it a more natural appearance at large draw distances. Example, Bushlurkers Lemnos at 40k and 100k then a bit Takistan at around 5k.

Rommel 2 Posted June 23, 2011 and i though people will understood the ViewDistance == Object ViewDistance Depends on the Object LOD at that view distance. ;)
