HorbeySpector 164 Posted June 9, 2013 You can add https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BMQSQa9CIAAJ5uz.png:large as a reference for the Ghosthawk. :) Pic was posted by a developer last night

pawelkpl 29 Posted June 9, 2013 Has someone noticed that at the end of the last livestream "Combined Arms Showcase" when they suddenly stopped it we can see big town on the horizon BUT MAP SHOWS KALITHEA BAY... ? I wonder what is going on...
Wiki 1558 Posted June 9, 2013 (edited) About the ghosthawk, I wonder: can we choose to open/close the doors, or will it be automatic? And have the dev definitely abandonned the idea of adding the fastrope? This last thing would be really awesome to have for the choppers. Concerning the campaign, I hope it wont be many sidemissions like what we saw yesterday. I prefer something like zipper5's arma 2 campaigns. Edit: sorry, I've just seen I posted in the wrong section. kilroy the nerd 14 Posted June 10, 2013 In the video Thomas didn't do it, only the second game who I do not know the name of had opened the Ghosthawk's doors (unless it's random). Even if fastrope is not in Arma 3, surely someone can script/mod it in. That Altis mission looks fun though, except I can't eat the Oreos that must be hidden in that castle. Smurf 12 Posted June 12, 2013 http://www.ion-inc.com/press/ Anybody noticed this? May be related to: ARMA III also has a new Fire Drills mode—basically, a training mode based on military training courses. He showed off one of those as well, darting from plywood cover to plywood cover, leaning out to pop targets while the time ticked onward relentlessly. Players will be able to create Fire Drill courses of their own and upload them to Steam Workshop, as well. http://www.pcworld.com/article/2041459/hands-on-with-arma-iii-and-dayz-pc-gaming-s-e3-vanguards.html Leaderboards for some firing drills? I'm OK with that....
progamer 14 Posted June 12, 2013 After a bit of research, the reason the Ghost Hawk is called the Ghost Hawk is because of its "Ghost Technology" which likely makes invisable to radar and very hard if possible to lock onto it with weapons. It is also very quite for a helicopter because of specially designed rotors and probably the "Ghost technology". Will Arma 3's Ghost Hawk be similar to the real life version with similar "Ghost Technology?".
chortles 263 Posted June 12, 2013 Will Arma 3's Ghost Hawk be similar to the real life version with similar "Ghost Technology?".Well, there's nothing officially acknowledged to confirm it against, only educated guesses... :p
HorbeySpector 164 Posted June 12, 2013 Will Arma 3's Ghost Hawk be similar to the real life version with similar "Ghost Technology?". I guess not, as the door guns sticking out kinda breaks the whole stealth thing. :p
progamer 14 Posted June 13, 2013 (edited) I guess not, as the door guns sticking out kinda breaks the whole stealth thing. :p They do not have to stick out all the time, because if your using those gus stealth isn't an option anymore. They could probably retract into the chopper with the "Ghost Technology" they have. Edited June 15, 2013 by ProGamer

benjamin1 10 Posted June 15, 2013 I'm not sure if this has been covered already but the animation previewer is a nice Crystal ball to look into, Did anyone see the 'getout' animations for the so called 'Mantis' ? The animation suggests it's some sort of boat.
nodunit 397 Posted June 15, 2013 The animation preview also had some time ago what appeared to be a cargo firing animation and a running leap...so I wonder just how far into the future said crystal ball shows.
Ash712 1 Posted June 16, 2013 The animation preview also had some time ago what appeared to be a cargo firing animation and a running leap...so I wonder just how far into the future said crystal ball shows. The "Cargo Firing" animation is probably the only firing from a vehicle we will get in A3, and it's probably only for the transport Helicopters. :( I'm pretty sure that "Running Leap" animation is the same one recently featured in DayZ "Stand Alone"? (shown a few times)It looks great! Obviously it needs polish though (animation clipping for objects etc..) ;)
Wildgoose 1 Posted June 16, 2013 The ToH flight model will be the default flight model for all the helicopters and will be used in the SP campaign as well. Confirmed a year ago, but looking likely to be dropped? Should be an option in difficulty settings atleast? BIS said at E3 this year it uses atleast 10fps, so not sure if it will be used? Would be nice to know if still confirmed or not?
chortles 263 Posted June 16, 2013 Confirmed a year ago, but looking likely to be dropped?Should be an option in difficulty settings atleast? BIS said at E3 this year it uses atleast 10fps, so not sure if it will be used? Would be nice to know if still confirmed or not? It's since been walked back, just like a bunch of claims made in 2011-2012 about Arma 3's capabilities (and there was a bunch of walking-back already in 2012!): Yes, TOH flight model is still planned.Modifying A2 models should be easy - just adding proper rotorLib config file. But one caution: we do not yet know we will make our stock helicopters use this flight model. "just adding" a RTD config file is not quite so easy when you want to simulate a specific helicopter (in comparison, we used a physicist for at least one month per helicopter in the past). So, we are trying to make the technology work inside the engine at some point beyond Alpha, but we cannot promise shipping with RTD-enabled helicopters even in Q3 2013. When you know I was the Project Lead for TKOH, I hope you can understand such decisions are not always based on what we want, but what we are able to do in time.Someone else also said that one of the pre-E3 livestream hangouts had a dev mentioning that the flight model itself wouldn't be in at full release, but I can't find a written quote on that so I'm just using DnA's post. Wildgoose 1 Posted June 16, 2013 Choppers are the only air vehicles we have been testing in ALPHA at all, and they have even added more for BETA....with no promised ToH flight model is not just a little depressing, but a major downer. Surely BETA is the time to be testing the new flight model that was promised over a year ago? Dropped because theres no time to do it, doesnt wash.
papanowel 120 Posted June 16, 2013 When I asked at gamescom about flight model, nobody told me that they will include it for sure in the game (just thinking about it, nothing more). For nearly over a year we know that it might not be part of the game.
