A little tribute (am not only contributor) for the great RACS mod:

Royal Army Corps of Sahrani

Overview

Sahrani, now a fully fledged member of the Green Sea Treaty Organization, decided that the old militia system of weekend warriors with a minimum of training was insufficient to ensure the defence of the Kingdom. Permanent armed forces based on universal conscription were thus established, built around a core of former militia forces, loyalist fighters and returned officers. All units are now part of the Royal Army Corps of Sahrani

The vast resources led to massive investment into modern armaments, leading to an emphasis on acquiring smart soldiers working with smart weaponry. Rigorous and extensive training programs have been developed to ensure that raw recruits are brought to a high professional standard with a variety of military skills. In joint exercises with Western militaries, RACS draftees have outperformed the foreign regular counterparts on multiple occasions.

All soldiers must pass an extended basic training for a period of six months before entering advanced military training. Part of the soldiers are then enrolled in the combat arms, part in the supporting services.

Due to the relatively long initial training all forces have a firm background in basic infantry skills regardless of their subsequent specialisation.

1st Infantry

The main part of recruits become part of the 1st Infantry, which provides them with training for operations in both woodland and desert conditions. Infantry doctrine places a high value on dispersed and independent operations by platoon sized units against numerically superior or more heavily armed forces, mimicking the resistance tactics developed in the Fishing War. After passing the Advanced Shooting Course, some 1st Infantry soldiers become trained scout marksmen and snipers.

Part of the 1st Infantry is also deployed in peacekeeping operations of the UN in the Green Sea region.

2nd Airborne

After basic military training and the advanced infantry course, the best and brightest of the soldiers can volunteer for service with the 2nd Airborne, undergoing extensive advanced training imparting airborne infiltration techniques, demolitions skills and use of foreign weaponry and equipment.

Endurance and initiative are highly stimulated in airborne candidates, a high number of which eventually enter non commissioned – and subaltern officer training courses at the Queen Mary Military Institute.

3rd Mountain

This is one of the most feared units of the RACS, formed during the Fishing War after seeing the effectiveness of Light Infantry units. During the conflict the 3rd Mountain did most of the damage to the SLA in the last days of the conflict, fighting in hostile alpine conditions without any Heavy Armour nor Air Support.

The soldiers traditionally share a very close comradeship and distinct esprit de corps. There is also a special perception of discipline which can for example be seen in a relatively informal relationship between officers and soldiers during normal day duty.

Armoured Corps

Part of the troops are assigned to the armoured corps, which specialises in combined operations with armoured personnel carriers.

The Sahrani Armoured Corps endorses fast aggressive tactics to quickly disrupt airborne or amphibuous invasions before initial assault forces are able to establish a firm bridgehead. Its reliance on brute force contrasts with the more fluid tactics of the rest of the army.

Artillery Corps

The Artillery corps is responsible for operating medium and long-range artillery.

The unit is tasked with two principal missions: Assisting RACS maneuvering forces, at the place, time and with the firepower required. And paralyzing and destroying enemy targets throughout the RACS zone of operations.

Missile Corps

The Missile Corps is the component of the RACS that controls Sahrani's strategic and tactical conventional ballistic missiles. Due to the difficult terrain of Sahrani, no missile silos were built, instead, mobile truck mounted ballistic missile systems are used.

Air Defense Corps

The Air Defense Corps is a combat arm specialized in anti-aircraft weapons. Its main task is the defense of Sahranian Airspace and to protect the RACS from aerial attack, missile attack, and surveillance.

Royal Sahrani Air Force

The Royal Sahrani Air Force (RSAF)is the air force of the Kingdom of Sahrani. It is mainly based at the King Joseph Air Base within the Paraiso International Airport. The role of the RSAF is to defend the national airspace and to provide air surveillance of the land and maritime borders.

RSAF Pararescue

Elite RSAF operatives tasked with recovery and medical treatment of personnel in humanitarian and combat environments. These special operations units are used to support RACS missions and to recover wounded soldiers from combat areas.

Royal Sahrani Navy

The RSN is the sea-based branch of Sahranis Forces and part of the RACS. It was established in the late 19th century. The RSN is mainly responsible for maritime defence and maintaining the sovereignty of Sahranian territorial waters. Other tasks include surveillance, search and rescue, oil spill recovery and prevention as well as contributions to international tasks and forces.

The RSN also has several air wings, operating fixed-wing aircraft.

Royal Marines

Armed by the US Marine Corps in the 50s, the main task of the Royal Marines is to guarantee the maritime security of the country's ports and external and internal defense of the country. To accomplish these responsibilities, the marines are trained and equipped to take on any type of operations from Sea, Air and Land.

Army Reconnaisance

The Recon units provide essential elements of military intelligence to the command element of the RACS; supporting their task force commanders, and their subordinate operating units. They are reconnaissance soldiers who cover great distances to gather intelligence and fulfill their mission.

It is responsible for operating independently behind enemy lines performing unconventional special operations, in support of conventional warfare. The unit's various methods of airborne, heliborne, submarine and waterborne insertions and extractions make them one of the most versatile units of the RACS.

National Guard

The Sahrani National Guard is the reserve force of the RACS. It is a infantry unit tasked with responding to external threats, civil disturbances, and natural disasters. It is also responsible for the mobilization of reservists. After their tour of service, a citizen may serve up to 8 weeks a year in the National Guard.

Military Police

The Military Police is the uniformed law enforcement branch of the RACS. It is responsible for various law enforcement duties, including aiding RACS commanders in enforcing discipline, guarding the military prisoners, locating deserters, and investigating crimes committed by soldiers

The increasing number of international operations with the participation of Sahrani soldiers and new threat scenarios hugely expanded the spectrum of tasks. Additionally to its traditional domestic tasks, the formation now also fulfills tasks in international operations, like setting up checkpoints.

Royal Fusiliers

The Royal Fusiliers are a light infantry special operations force, above the level of the standard army units. Their equipment is of the next level and they are trained and assisted by American Special Forces and Ranger advisors.

Fusiliers are intended as a swing force capable of conventional as well as counter-insurgency operations. They specialize in counter-insurgency warfare and deep infiltration missions. The regiment has been boasted as one of the world's best anti-guerrilla forces.

Royal Commandos

The Special forces of the RACS, they are outfitted with next-generation clothing with digital camo. The commandos primary tasks are counter-terrorism, direct action, and national intervention operations, although it is an extremely versatile group capable of conducting many types of clandestine missions, including, but not limited to, hostage rescues and raids.

Princess Sarah Brigade

The Princess Sarah Brigade is a praetorian guard unit, charged with protecting the King and his Government, and responding to any rebellion, coup, or other threat to his power.

The soldiers are very well trained and well equipped with the latest armaments and training in all fields such as counter-terrorism, etc. The brigades soldiers proved themselves during the brief conflict with northeastern extremist groups camped in Sahrani, as the guards had no casualties and spearheaded most of the attacks.

Royal Guard

The Royal Guard is an elite special forces military unit composed of Special Operations soldiers handpicked from the ranks of the RACS and organized under the Princess Sarah Brigade. The unit is tasked with direct protection of the government and ceremonial duties, retaining an elite level of combat readiness. It is under the personal command of the king.

Royal Sahrani Police

The Royal Sahrani Police is helping to keep the inner peace of the country, and is now also protecting the Border, fighting arms and narcotics smugglers alike.

It is divided into two branches, the normal patrol divison and the special weapons unit.

Red Brigade

Because of the worsening living conditions in the North since the Fishing War, many soldiers of the Sahrani Liberation Army deserted across the border and chose to fight with the RACS and against the northern communists. Seeing the potential morale advantages and not wanting to waste capable fighters, the RACS acquired obsolete Warsaw-Pact vehicles and weapons and armed the deserters. They now fight as a paramilitary force alongside their Southern Brothers, specializing in motorized operations.

Sahrani Legion

The Sahrani Legion is a military service wing of the RACS established in 1978, unique because it was exclusively created for foreign nationals willing to serve in the Sahrani Armed Forces. Commanded by Sahranian officers, it is also open to Sahrani citizens, who amounted to 24% of the recruits as of 2009.

Sahrani Seguridad

Following the quelled Revolution in Sahrani South, the Kings's Government ordered on February 18, 1957 the formation of the Sahrani Seguridad Militia. It replaces the former National party's paramilitary arm. The uniformed and armed Seguridad's stated aim is to "defend the cultural and spiritual heritage of Sahrani" and to "fight the communist threat and anarchism". It is a voluntary service outside the chain of command, mostly joined by RACS Veterans and ardent supporters of the King.

and this is exactly why it is not worth it for me to take one more second away from my family for this community.

http://realsoundmodarma.weebly.com/about-us--contact.html

direct violation of my EULA

distributing ripped content freely

unauthorized ports of pracs to arma3

these are the guys who screwed all of you.

Kudos to those guys for sharing and keeping it open source. I like this community, but quite often the snobbery can be a turn off.

I'm so glad to see that such wonderful modders are starting to filter into the Arma community... [/sarcasm]

Just to give you guys a better idea of what wld427 is dealing with here:

Untitled-1.jpg

"reserve the right the right to modify any content freely distributed, on the ArmA 3/ArmA 2 games."

Um, what? How do you reserve any right over someone else's IP? Oh yeah, that's right, you can't. (If you can, then I reserve all rights over all of your possessions and the ability to do whatever I want with them) In other words, they just wrote a bunch of BS to sound like they're legit in what they're doing for their facebook fans. PRACS isn't open source, it's freeware, there's a difference. PRACS has a license and it says, word for word, in bold, "DO NOT modify these addons in any way shape or form without the expressed written permission of the RACS mod."

Also, they keep saying, it's for private use and it's for demonstrative purposes (which is also against the EULA in the first place), but:

Untitled-2.jpg

In their own comments, they mention their intent to release the addon.

"Used under the Creative Commons - For demonstrative purposes only!"

And again, they wrote a bunch of BS to try and make their blatant theft seem legit. PRACS doesn't even use a CC license!

Just a heads up to other mod makers as well, a few of the other addons they've also ripped are:

the FDF mod's F-18c

the RKSL Eurofighter Typhoon

the GLT F-16

scar's F-22

and possibly more...

Kudos to those guys for sharing and keeping it open source. I like this community, but quite often the snobbery can be a turn off.

Yup, kudos to these guys for stealing from talented addon makers who are making new and original content, and driving them away from making more for you to enjoy, just so you can have your Arma 3 port a little quicker...

I'm all for open source and knowledge sharing, but seriously, have a little god damn respect for someone else's hard work, and what they do or don't want done to it... especially when it's free of charge. Freeware != open source. How is that such a hard concept for certain people to grasp? :(

This is only my opinion, and I am not trying to argue, and in no way take this as flamebaiting, but they did indicate the addons were made by PRACS and gave them recognition. I fully respect the rules of this forum, so you'll never see a video or screenshot or content release from me that displays illegitimate content.

I'd go more in depth, but I don't want to incur any further wrath.

Disgusted that these guys think they can just slap the word private on it and then give it out to people as they see fit, whilst trying to hide behind some thin a@#e excuse about CC rules etc.

I blame Dayz for alot of the 'New' players that have turned up with there own ideas about respect for the original creators wishes etc, Just look at all the issues that Vilas is having..

Lack of respect is slowly killing this once great and respectful community..

Why this mod disappeared from the site www.armaholic.com?

Why this mod disappeared from the site www.armaholic.com?

because author had enough of abusing content (intelectual property rights), read page before , abusing copyrights and taking content to other mods kills addonmaking

Are you making more warships for this mod?

Did you seriously not even read the post above yours?

wld427 stopped working on PRACS and removed all download links due to the plague of addon theft that seems to be happening (and/or allowed to happen) around here now. :(

If

can't respect his EULA, then, unfortunately, there's only one solution. It's a damn shame... There was a lot of content that never was, and probably won't ever be publicly released. Not until some bad apples learn the meaning of a EULA and importance of respecting it.

The mod is kaput, period.

Don't you think that trivialises it rather a lot.

I think its more accurate to say that the Mod is now dead due to the repeated violation of the EULA and the selfish acts of a few individuals. So the rest of community is made to suffer because of them.

EDIT I dont think Eddie will mind if I add this either:

Don't think that Eddie has taken this step lightly or selfishly. Part of the reasoning at least is due the very way that the PRACS mod came about. It was built on Donations from this community, all of which came with EULAs of their own. A responsibility that Eddie aka WLD427 has worked very had to respect and uphold despite repeated personal attacks against him and his friends. Contiuned assaults on his IP and the IP of the original donators has taken its toll.

I have a huge amount of respect for the sheer volume of work PRACS has taken. I'll be honest i doubt that I could have done what he has all on his own. I seriously doubt many here even realise how much time and effort he's poured in creating a complete faction. We've lost a valuable member of the community, the recent events have just been the straw that broke the camel's back.

For that 2nd URL, just to clarify in the readme he says:

Big shout out to the lead modeller at PRACS for letting me use the base model to this bird from a while back.

Then WLD posted htat its hacked... not sure about that :(

BIS really needs to get to doing something about this stuff.

It's not the first time wld427 has had issues with that guy either... He originally ripped it a little over a year ago for Arma 2, and then tried to release it on Armaholic. He was still claiming that somebody from PRACS had given him permissions for it back then too. What's even more funny is the fact that we actually discovered what this guy was doing before he released it,

, but he never got a response. Luckily Foxhound is awesome and removed it right away. Unfortunately, the guy still shares it among his clan (whom I shall not name) though, claiming it as his own.

Faking getting permission seems to be a popular new tactic of addon thieves...

It's just sad that all this could have been avoided had the person just asked. What are they afraid of, getting a "no?" That's why you ask before you tear someone else's shit open, so you don't put any work into something that you wont be able to share.

Very sad news indeed. I'm really not happy about the current situation about addon theft etc.

PRACS always has been one of my favorite, if not my most favorite, mods for Armed Assault and Arma 2.

http://www.armaholic.com/plug.php?e=search&pre=project+racs (this will already show some results but just ignore for now)

In the Select page categories select the following categories (press CTRL while clicking to select multiple categories):

- OA/scenario/singleplayer missions

- OA/scenario/multiplayer missions

- OA/scenario/campaigns

- OA/scenarios/Mission Packs

Press "Find"

Output is 5 available downloads. The gamemodes section was not selected, there could be missions using PRACS there as well.

Maybe if you select the corresponding Arma 2 sections you will find even more missions.

Searching for mission which require a specific addon is so easy. Yes, that selectbox is a bit small so our new website will have all this improved :)

@Battleship

Long time ago i made SP pack for PRACS. Check signature in my profile or go to armaholic and search for: tom3kb's racs sp mission pack.

There was pack with 32 missions: RACS CWC Classics (remake of w0lle's cwc classics) but i don't think you find working links. I can send you this pack after next weekend when i be back in home. Just write here or send me PM if you want this pack.

Arma 3 is poorer for not having Project RACS. As a full faction, we could have ignored the in my opinion, contrived and bolted-on future setting and had a good game with the updated engine and gorgeous environment 3 gives us with the lovely woodland paint scheme these units have.

That said, I'm privileged to count Eddie as a dear friend so totally go with his reasoning. If you reading this, mate, know that we're missing you more than you're missing us. :)

---------- Post added at 08:28 ---------- Previous post was at 08:25 ----------

Is there any campaign/mission for arma 2 or OA that runs with pracs mod?

There's two listed here.

Really sad to see another big name leaving the modding scene, but your reasons are more than valid . . . family goes first. Just wanted to thank you Eddie for your fantastic mod. I hope that we are still granted to make usage of the last release for some missions in order to honor and showcase what you've done for the ArmA community.

All the best and thanks for PRACS.

cheers

Yes, it is that sad, I was sitting in front of my PC playing with myself....

7zan.jpg

On a more serious note, This thread should be sticked for all to read...why?

To Show any of the new people who venture into these forums a few things..

1. Respect the Mod makers, they are people and offer their hard work to a user base for the sheer thrill and enjoyment of others

2. Respect the content, the Mod makers do this for the love of the game, don't abuse their wishes and hack their work apart, or soon, no one will enrich the base product.

3. To show the wider community what happens when you forget the first two things.....

4. You the end user don't 'own' the mod maker, they are not your servant, Respect the person as well.

P:RACS is/was an awesome mod, I am still finding new nifty little things about it.

Long live P:RACS!

Uploaded the DL link for the CWC classics missions. It should work now. I made them with an older version of PRACS, but they should work fine.
