rksl-rock 1300 Posted April 1, 2011 Myke;1888500']@AbsThere are always ways to achieve something. The problem as we use the droptanks as cfgAmmo proxies' date=' there must be a reliable way to detemine if tanks are present, if yes how many, what happens on refuel and so on. Actually with the F-16 i have exactly the same problems and i will surely ...[/quote'] Due to the way that arma handles the fuel quantity (ie its fixed in the config values) The problem comes when you drop the tanks then try to refuel the plane. You get the full fuel amount again but without the tanks. Example1: "Internal" fuel = 50% 2x "External" (Drop Tanks) Fuel = 50% Total 100% ... Take off, drop the tanks. Fuel state = 50% ... Land refuel at the fuel truck. Fuel level goes back up to 100%. Example2: "Internal" fuel = 50% 1x "External" (Drop Tanks) Fuel = 50% Total 100% ... Take off, drop the tanks. Fuel state = 50% ... Land refuel at the fuel truck. Fuel level goes back up to 100%. In the standard game engine there is no accounting for quantity. Or the volume of each tank. Loadout differences etc. Any scripted system is going to have to deal with all this... Please understand I'm not saying its impossible... I'm just asking is it really worth it when even the biggest islands are big enough for 2hours flying time on most types (assuming you dont have the throttle fully open ALL the time.)? Spartan 163 0 Posted April 1, 2011 I remember that there was an addon in OFP that had drop tanks, which, when jetissoned, drasticly cut the amount of fuel you had. I just don't remember which one it was. My point here being that there is a way somehow, and it doesn't just have to be aesthetic. :)Abs Lol Abs that was the original F-18 for Arma that had that. I still have original on my hard drive and play it when I get fustrated with Arma2 nonsense.
[frl]myke 14 Posted April 1, 2011 Aye Rock, i know pretty well it wont be easy to catch and cover all possibilities and the examples you listed i'm well aware off. Actually i'm not yet at that point to dig deeper into this matter, just saying it is a point on my todo list.
Altimeter 10 Posted April 1, 2011 Lol Abs that was the original F-18 for Arma that had that. I still have original on my hard drive and play it when I get fustrated with Arma2 nonsense. The P-51 and Messerschmitt have that system as well. I think they were even before the F-18.

The problem as we use the droptanks as cfgAmmo proxies' date=' there must be a reliable way to detemine if tanks are present, if yes how many, what happens on refuel and so on.Actually with the F-16 i have exactly the same problems and i will surely script a appropriate fuel management system for it which then surely could be adapted for this F/A-18 but i'm not at this point yet. That said, in the initial release of the F/A-18 i wouldn't expect such a system, it will be probably included in a later update.[/quote'] Yes, that seems most likely the case... however maybe in the future the process can be figured out and having "usable" external tanks would be nice. And I would have to agree with you on having a right to comment about your work and this project.. Thanks dude. Please understand I'm not saying its impossible... I'm just asking is it really worth it when even the biggest islands are big enough for 2hours flying time on most types (assuming you dont have the throttle fully open ALL the time.)? Thanks for commenting and it may not really be necessarry, but I think you probably feel the way I do and others, that if it can be done do it. We all love realism so it is not the top priority and would look into it at a later time. I remember that there was an addon in OFP that had drop tanks, which, when jetissoned, drasticly cut the amount of fuel you had. I just don't remember which one it was. Thanks for taking the time to check it out. So, I have been working on some instrument panels and will know the next step in this WIP soon.
franze 196 Posted April 1, 2011 Just throwing this out there, but the system I used on the Su-17/22 had the fuel replenished to 100% from the drop tanks until the drop tanks were empty.
toomtoomX 10 Posted April 3, 2011 (edited) Ah, yesh, I do remember the Su-17 from OFP... Great Craft, even if it wasn't done  But back on topic, everything looks pretty good so far, keep up the good great work! Meatball0311 79 Posted April 6, 2011 I was going to post something today.. but was waiting for it to be in a better condition. I had a meeting tonight, so that took much of my evening away. I am home and getting started.. hopefully will have a quick video to show what I have done soon. A little update.. I had to correct something on the model inorder for Mandoble to finish his work. Unfortunately he wont be back until Friday. So, the project is moving forward and progressing towards a beta state. My goal is to get the F/A-18F to a state that is decent enough to release, then more will follow. Once again no timeline, and THANKS for your patience. Believe me I am working to get this out.... mrwesley 11 Posted April 6, 2011 i rather wait a bit longer and get a good version instead of waiting for not that long and have a bit worse version soo just as some of the other creators say ''its done when its done'' good luck with the rest of the stuff that still needs to be done and looking forward to the final release :D
Meatball0311 79 Posted April 7, 2011 Thank you. I am adding some important features to the bird and at sametime waiting for other projects to be completed. I am looking to post a video (I completed one step in a project, now I just need to complete the next) of what I have been working on these past few days. Meatball0311 79 Posted April 7, 2011 (edited) It took me so long to post this because I wasted two days trying to do something that I cant do at the moment, but will add later. So, before I chased that other goal, I had been working on this. I would like to give thanks to [GLT]Myke for helping me and giving me the idea from his GPS/INS System. This is Waypoint Plotting System that will allow you to plot a waypoint and the MFD screen will point to the direction (Green triangle) of the waypoint. It is also giving your heading (Red triangle). I would like to do more on the textures, but I know many of you are wanting some videos. So I will post this. Also, this is showing off the GLT weapons. Enjoy.... HcDdxbdXp9E?rel=0&hd=1 **** the error that you see is not form the F/A-18F it is from another addon***** Edited April 7, 2011 by Meatball0311

[frl]myke 14 Posted April 8, 2011 ...how many time we must wait your creation? thanks. Well, a rough guesstimate would be "when it's done" but could take 2-3 days longer.

Gruman 122 Posted April 8, 2011 This waypoint system looks interesting. Are those the scripts converted from Franze's F/A-18 Superbug Scripts or is it a development of you and Myke? Cant wait for the release, but take your time. Should still be fun for you to work on this addon :) Thanks for the work.
