Guest Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) I needed some time to get used to the new colors but I like it. I actually prefer it over the old one, looks more professional if you ask me. Also it is nice to have your own theme other than the blue one as the whole net is filled with the default blue forum. Its even a little faster than the old theme so you probably did some performance tweaks as well at the same time. Nice job :-) Edited February 18, 2011 by Guest
PuFu 4600 Posted February 18, 2011 The icons for new post, read post etc should be changed altogether, not just have the blue in it desaturated. The reply, quote, new thread, multiquote, edit buttons needs some love. I like their simplicity, but there is something missing though. Please keep the size of text inside the buttons the same: All the drop down menus to the right of Bohemia Interactive logo open behind the forum window. The underlined category in which forum is should be Community, not Home. Make up your minds about the color scheme used: At the moment i got red, red bold and grey (for threads i already read). I hate Quoting myself here, but here goes. 3/6 fixed already
-martin- 10 Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) I like this theme more then the old one now, but I think that the grey background box around the forums looks a bit unfinished, you should make it in a very light grey like that shadow under the BIS logo, take a look here: The colour I used as the background is #f7fcfd R = 247 G = 252 B = 253 Good work BIS All the drop down menus to the right of Bohemia Interactive logo open behind the forum window. There aren't any drop down menus there any more, at least not for me. But when you click on one of those link it opens in the same tab/window like the forums, might be better to open it separately in case someone is wiring a long post and clicks one of those links by accident. dmarkwick 261 Posted February 18, 2011 While you're making changes to the site, can I ask that sticky threads are only seen on the first page of each forum? Some forums, over half the screen's viewable area is the same each time because of the stickies taking up all the room :) I think stickies only need to be on the first page. Some forums, over half the screen's viewable area is the same each time because of the stickies taking up all the room :)I think stickies only need to be on the first page. Good idea. I would also have a break/gap between the sticky threads and the rest of those. It takes a bit of time to figure out where the stickies end. One normal thread height would do. You can even have collapsible sticky threads as per THIS ONE How to - collapsible sticky: Open FORUMDISPLAY template Find: $threadbits_sticky Above it add: <thead> <tr> <td class="thead" colspan="<if condition="$show['threadicons'] AND $show['inlinemod']">7<else /><if condition="($show['threadicons'] AND !$show['inlinemod']) OR (!$show['threadicons'] AND $show['inlinemod'])">6<else />5</if></if>"> <a style="float:$stylevar[right]" href="#top" onclick="return toggle_collapse('hidesticky')">Show|Hide Sticky Threads <img id="collapseimg_hidesticky" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/collapse_thead$vbcollapse[collapseimg_hidesticky].gif" alt="" border="0" /></a> </td> </tr> </thead> <tbody id="collapseobj_hidesticky" style="$vbcollapse[collapseobj_hidesticky]"> <tr> <td class="alt1"> Below it add: <tr><td class="tcat" colspan="<if condition="$show['threadicons'] AND $show['inlinemod']">7<else /><if condition="($show['threadicons'] AND !$show['inlinemod']) OR (!$show['threadicons'] AND $show['inlinemod'])">6<else />5</if></if>"><img src="$vboptions[cleargifurl]" width="1" height="1" alt="" /></td></tr> </td> </tr> </tbody> Edited February 18, 2011 by PuFu

kegetys 2 Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) Looks quite nice, though for some reason there is a horizontal scrollbar when the page is less than ~1200 pixels wide. The content itself seems to scale properly though and on the overflowing space there is only white. edit: now it is gone Edited February 18, 2011 by Kegetys

celery 8 Posted February 18, 2011 I've always found it annoying that when you click on a thread that you have read before, it will send you to the first post. The small arrow takes you to the first unread post. On another forum I've seen the opposite (default to first unread, small icon to start), and it works very well. The only small arrow I see is when the thread is a thread I've actually got a post in. I think a "go to last unread" icon would be very useful :)

Nicholas 5 Posted February 19, 2011 I'm actually really liking the gray. But I think that the red color of the names and page numbers should be made a little bit brighter.

Gnome_AS 10 Posted February 19, 2011 I vaguely recall someone else perhaps mentioning the grey/red and related indications are less than helpful. Appears that the forum sections are indicating as "read", (which you might assume means "in whole") when really you've just visit a single forum within. Seems odd'ish. Still much cleaner than the previous, very welcome change ;) .
