What are the most important sounds for you while using JSRS?

  1. 1. What are the most important sounds for you while using JSRS?

    • The weapon sounds!
    • The vehicle sounds!
    • Environmental sounds!
    • Explosions, Soniccracks, Bullethits, the sound of danger!
    • The script features like the "distance sounds"!
    • Everything combined! The whole Mod itself is important.

You can't run CO through steam like that. If you want to run mods with CO you're going to have to use a different method to start the game, such is Play with Six, Six Updater or Spiritedmachine Arma Launcher. All will work pretty easily and run CO properly, regardless of where you got the game from. Of course, assuming it is installed correctly, meaning that you have at least once ran Steam as administrator and launched Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA separately (as standalone).

Of course, this isn't really about JSRS, and more about running mods with Steam in general. Then again, I'd probably recommend using at least 1 of these programs regardless of whether you got the game from Steam or not.

File jsrs_distance_c\config.cpp, line 10058; /cfgWeapons.cwr2_UK_L7_GPMG: Undefined base class 'cwr2_M60E3'

Anyone had this error yet?

I deleted the above files, as I'm guessing this error showed up as I removed cwr2 a couple of weeks ago, question is will this remove the distance script ofr ACR aswell>?

Make sure that you have the latest version.

Make sure that the server has the keys for the latest version.

Well I think I pretty much answered my own question, as I deleted CWR2 a while back (and sparsely play arma these days) and booted up JSRS with a file dependent on CWR2 it obviously wouldn't start the game up. My fix: Delete the files jsrs_distance_c.pbo and jsrs_distance_c.bisign, this may not be the correct way, but it enabled me to start up the game with JSRS.

If any of the team would like to weigh in, making us aware if this is right or wrong, then that would be beneficial to the both of us and countless others I guess.

If you want to play with cwr then use the cwr configs (distance_c and bising) and if you dont want to play with cwr anymore or delete cwr, then use the original configs again. You cant just delete files and accept it to work. The distance.pbo and distance_c.pbo qre the most important files at all. Without those nothing will work anymore...

So why you use cwr2 configs, and where you put them? In JSRS1.5\addons?

I never did such thing, I just downloaded J.S.R.S and placed the @JSRS 1.5 in ArmA 2 OA directory.

was watching some syrian war vids, (don't get me wrong, i know it's not a game), but i tough lord might find something useful here, like t-72 driving and shooting sounds, or SVD shooting from inside the building etc.

Could you maybe redownload the update 3? Thos seemse to be an old error I remember. But I am not sure that it still exists since I play with the latest version myself wothout any kind of trouble here. Sry about the configt stuff I mentioned earlier coeze that won't fix anything since the cwr weapons are contained in the script system no matter what. What you could try also is:

Redownload update3

Or:

Download the extra configs which allows you to disable certain sounds. There is also a normal backup config in it. Maybe that can help in a.y way ;)

@NeuroFunker

Thanks for the video but I'm not sure if I will continue to work on JSRS in any way sooner or later. Really busy with real life and ArmA3 around the corner it does not make mich sense to keep up the work wo much. First I eant to take a look on A3 and see if we are able to port the mod just like that before working on it again. ;)

Sry for the horrible writing. i hate my cellphone :D

lol yeah, i see, arma 3... I hope it doesn't require a lot of work. :) Actually it could be a good platform for ya, since it has futuristic, non existing weapons, so you can use more creativity there, to make it sound believable, but not to sci-fish

BIS will handle it pretty well to let it sound believable I believe ;) And well, futuristic weapons are not what I had in mind to work on. Not sure where to go from here, but if A3 wont suite my needs I will have to look for another place to go, new game, new community and stuff. We had an awesome time here and I'm really glad that I was a part of this amazing community, but if A3 is (as I dont think it is) too sci fi like and if there wont be much... usual military stuff (weapons, vehicles) I will loose the interest in A3, A2 wont live long enough to be worth it spending time into it and there wouldn't be much else here.

Maybe Liberation 44 would be interesting, not sure yet. I will just take a break from here on and look around for a new game (Here or somewhere else even) or maybe a job. There are a lot of new projects starting each day on Kickstarter, maybe there is someone in the need of a sounddude :P

Has anyone pointed out the SMAW spotting rounds issue yet? When you fire the spotting round you get a backblast noise.

Ok, I'll download update 3 and see where we go, I deleted the distance_c.pbo as it was the reason the game wouldn't start, after removal it worked fine, as did the sounds/distance sounds.

I'm pretty sure it was, also it seems it is a fix with update 3 aswell.

well, that would be a big lose if u will leave us, but you've done already a LOT for our community, and we are all thankful for what u did! :D If u think your ready to go commercial, then i wish you good luck, and i'm sure, J.S.R.S could be a ticket to the business^^

Why is everyone worrying about futuristic stuff? You can always just not include them in a mission if you don't like them, and if enough people think the same as you then you will actually have people to play such missions with. I know I'm not excited about futuristic stuff either, but know for sure I won't have a problem finding people who want to play with modern (currently applicable) equipment, be it equipment included in the game and/or equipment added or re-added via mods.

I'm yet to see anything futuristic in any ArmA 3 video, the only thing that is futuristic is the date, in terms of ballistics etc we have all of what has be shown already in today's advancements. I can't wait to use the Bouncin' Betty's.

_____

Downloading Update 3 fixed the issue, thanks LJ.

LordJarhead is just very afraid of making brandnew A3 sounds instead of keeping those familiar oldschool A2OA sounds...

Hi, i think your sound mod is pretty good (not true, is fkng. awesome).

I am here to report a problem: The sound inside the cockpit of MH-60S (The U.S. Navy variant) is almost inaudible. This when the engine is fully turned on and the "ignition sound" has finished playing.

Other little problem is the sound one hear (while being on ground at med distance) when a chopper (flying of course) launches rockets, specially the Mi-24 (Takistan variant). It's like they have been taken with a cell phone. I noticed this when playing on Utes, I was on the runway and a chopper was flying and launching rockets at aproximately 300-400m.

Keep up the good work.

Yap, two known issues here ;) Will kinda work this out soon.

BTW: 53742 Downloads so far from our main download source at 24th Platoon. 61218 from ArmaHolic. Thanks for the mighty participation! Thanks!

Anyone else getting choppiness with JSRS and those CBA's enabled? With vanilla sounds playing wasteland is pretty smooth with the occasional loading pauses at 5-10fps, but with JSRS near towns it's basically pausing all the time as you move/turn around.
