CM Operation Flashpoint 3 announced | "Oops, they're doing it again..."

Recommended Posts

There's no reason a non-Battlefield/HALO/Call of Duty game like that to be around for longer than a couple months these days.

I guess it all really depends on the replayability of the co-op modes. 'Last Stand', 'Combat Sweep', 'Search and Rescue' and 'Convoy Escort' sound like they could be challenging for competent players in hardcore mode.

Yeah, the first 5 times you play them. I'm certain they will lack enough randomness to make playing them over and over as enjoyable as they are in L4D, and I'm positive the support for the game will be dropped so quickly after release, just like its predecessor, that you won't get any new ones. No design decisions or announcements outside of their words, and we all know what value those have after DR, have indicated they have changed their ways.

Besides, the attitude towards the game anywhere but their forum seems utterly and overwhelmingly negative.

Yeah randomness is definitely the key word regarding whether or not Red River is going to enjoy any sort of longevity.

Mmmhmm, I doubt that these modes offer much replay value as they are. The whole fait of the game rests upon... DLC. Sometimes - well mostly - Game companies sometimes do the opposite of what you would have thought to be common sense.

Does not:

Good Game = £££

+ DLC = +£££

+ More DLC and Expansions = +£££

And

Bad Game = ££

+ No DLC = ???

Thats looking at it from a crude perpsective, but the kind of view the "suits" at these companies will be looking at it from. But they see it the other way around; How this works eludes me. Mostly; this applies to companies like DICE,EA,UBISOFT and such. Oh, and ACTIVSION-BLIZZARD, of course.

How bout that background image. That has to be a placeholder image surely :butbut:

They obviously have some nice skyboxes this time. Check out these screens:

And there are some on the website, like this one:

Graphics looks definitely like step up, especially in terms of colors and art direction overall. Hard to judge a gameplay, because most of us haven't seen much yet.

I don't know what GFWL is and I wonder why I should care about it.

Games for Windows - Live.

Microsoft's attempt to merge Steam and Xbox Live. Disadvantages of both, advantages of neither. A total disaster in short.

I think you all judge too early. Codemasters post-release support for their game sis incredible. Look, they've recently released a new patch for DR:

http://community.codemasters.com/forum/operation-flashpoint-dragon-rising-game-pc-113/452471-operation-flashpoint-dragon-rising-pc-v1-03-beta-patch-released.html

The fixes will blow your mind. It re-adds mod support.

Incredible stuff, the supports shown will surely convince me to buy Red River.

No Codemasters were too busy to make an actual animation for the skydomes. So they are still images.....

GFWL- Games for windows Live (Xbox live on PC pretty much *utter shit too)

The game looks good for what it is, but it aint no OFP it should'nt be carrying onto the franchise name anymore.

Would buy it if it had Mission Editor and A Good track record from CM regarding patching and DLC support

DLC for DR was crap except the gametypes they added.

I need to see more than 20 seconds of gameplay, and if the AI is dumb then this game will fall on its back since its AI centric on all modes.

@CW001

LOL I saw that a while ago

TAKE THAT BIS! :sarcasm:

2) Win7 32 – ONLY APPLICABLE IF OPERATION FLASHPOINT: DRAGON RISING IS THE ONLY GAME INSTALLED ON YOUR PC – After playing the game,

installing the patch disables/deletes the D3DX9_42.DLL forcing the user to reinstall DX9 in order to play the game.

LOL!

All right all right! I take it back. Please, CM, stop supporting the game! Please stop patching it. Now the game and it's patches is destructive to both the hardware AND software of my computer. All that stuff I said about you not supporting your software- I take it all back... just stop, please.

That patch would never have come out if Templar wasn't given the patch to test all those months ago. After he threatened to release the info the public himself; They finally released it.

From what I gather, that patch was supposed to come out like immedietly after 1.02 and be the last patch. But ended up being a year late, for some reason.

This garbage again?

What's more amazing than the fact that Lenton et al are developing another horseshit cash grab is the fact that there are still people defending the first one.

With games like BC2 (and BC3 not far off) there is no need for this schlock.

Let's look at the pros and cons of DR shall we?

Pros

- The launcher reload animations

Cons

- everything else

Nuff said ;)

I was about to comment on that as I seen it but I guess they would have just banned me for that. :D

And no, I'm not interested in their crappy games nor do I check that place on a daily basis - just in case you get any ideas. :p

I love it how in the flickr pics they name them 'pre alpha stage', when all that's gonna happen is the graphics will become worse when they realise they're too performance-intensive, even for a corridoor shooter :P

Mark my words, I'll make a video of me eating my own hand if this doesn't happen...

Judging by comments made by those who recently tested the game at Codemasters Press day you might end up with egg on your face. Red River's gameplay may well turn out to be utter crap but I'm tipping the graphics will look very nice. Like a gold painted turd.
