Even though I play the hell out of Arma 2 I still find myself going back to OFP and Arma 1 every once in a while to have some good old nostalgic fun.

Although I only go back to Arma 1, I would love to have the ability to play both ArmA1 and OFP from the ArmA2 exe if ever BIS decided to do official DLC conversions.

Funny how ArmA 1 runs perfectly on the highest settings while ArmA 2 runs like crap even on the lowest. ;)

Funny how that's nonsense.

My brother plays ArmA1 because that's what runs best on his PC. I also sometimes go back to it and play, it's nice to play a game which runs nice and smooth. :D

@BIS

Is it time to change 1.18RC to final now? Please. The MP is split in two because of it.

We put Domination Everon on our A2 server from time to time for some nostalgia (it looks sweet upgraded), but other than that I am total OA at the moment. I bought OFP Elite for 99p from the bay for my old Xbox recently and it brings back fond memories, but as my game time is limited I would rather spend it on the newer titles.

So I don't really fit into any of the categories.

Since A2 came out and it had features i really wanted too see that needed tedious scripting in A1 for my missions, I have to admit the day it arrived I have never once gone back to A1 at all. Oddly enough A1 ran better on my dual boot under Vista, so to play It I have to reboot into that and most I use under XP. A2 on the other hand ran worse under Vista for me than XP (and OA) so pretty much everything I have is under XP boot anyway.

I keep all my missions and scripts and things that I have learned to bring over to A2 but that's it.

CAA1 brought the maps back which in turn brings back decent FPS so the boxes are all ticked for what I wanted in A1 that I can have in A2. The only comparison is I find OA and accessing A2 a performance difference in micro stutters, so I will keep accessing A2 via its exe for full A2 play (SP) and OA as OA even though they are combined installs.

Oh and I know its odd, but I got turned onto Arma 1 in 2007 I didn't really try out OFP, I had a demo and I just didn't like the graphics much and was still hooked on Ghost Recon 1 :)

Though I am much impressed with the improvements and changes in ArmA II and Operation Arrowhead I still occasionally play both OFP and Armed Assault. An important reason to play the earlier instalments of the series is the fact that the AI more slavishly follow the commands in Armed Assault, which makes squad command less of a hassle.

Regards,

Sander

That's really sad, cause playing OFP:CWC will show you how graphics are easily forgotten when the gameplay and the story board are top notch.

I still play OFP all the time. I give ARMA 2 a go every now and then but always end up going back to OFP. Never liked ARMA 1 at all.

I play Arma 1 sometimes, because of Evolution Blue on Silent Warriors. Last time I played OFP was about a year and a half ago, on the mountain trip with school where we had just some crappy laptop. :) I dont play it anywhere else because of different controls of movement and things like that which I am used to from A1 and A2. But still, it was the best game Ive ever played. :) 2001 was the best year in the pc games history. :P

I have OFP/Red Hammer/Resistance, ArmA 1/Queen's Gambit, ArmA II, and now Operation Arrowhead are all installed onto my PC. Just doesn't feel "complete" without the whole set. :P

I play the OFP:CWC/Resistance campaign sometimes. Fire up ArmA 1 to play the Quarantine mission with Yomies sometimes.

Similar problem here :) forced my friend to buy OFP when i had A1, and then A1 when i had A2 :D he's still one generation behind so i need to go one game back to play online with him. :P

though ive never played OFP or ArmA over LAN. Must be hell of a fun to play coop with friend next to you.

btw im thinking about installing all the series on my PC again. :) just from nostalgy :D I have them all...just Red Hammer is missing, because it wasnt sold in the country of OFP :(
