  7. First of all Id like to say that this is a brainstorm Ive had over the past few weeks that Ive decided to put towards the community. Its a project proposal basically. We've been very fortunate to get given lots of US Military assets - we have the Air Force mod, multiple different Army & Marine mods and lots & lots of small addons depicting vehicle systems, firearms, uniforms, etc. However out of the 5 main service branches of the US Armed Forces there is 1 very important branch that's yet to be presented as a whole mod package - the US Navy. [logo incoming] Over the course of some time, this mod (inspired by the USAF mod) will add Navy assets both current and future. Ive considered also doing Coast Goard and that maybe done at a later time. As I've figured, the best way of tackling the issue of adding in multiple large warship vessels into Arma is to contact already experienced mod makers in the community who've released or are working on releasing US Navy vessels if they want to participate in the development of this mod by contributing their creation basically creating an all-in-one Navy pack to be everyone's go to mod for US Navy assets. By no means am I capable of doing this mod by myself - Ive read a lot about how the Arma engine doesnt like very large objects (ships) and how its troublesome to get units to walk on moving objects, thus the idea of combining the brain power and knowledge of experienced modders make something great together. WIP Features list: - Navy flagship: Nimitz-class Carrier - OHP-class Frigate: A2 Gnat's - Arleigh Burke- class Destroyer - Wasp-class LHD: Chortles port - LA-class Submarine: A2 Gnat's - Naval Special Warfare Command operators (SEALs, Assault boats, SDV, etc) - MH-60S: A2 port - Seahawks: A2 YuraPetrov's - F-35C: USAF mod's - E2C Hawkeye: A2 OFrP !notice that nothing in the above lists is set, rather its something like how I envision the mod would look like. There will be lots of PMs being sent out to the respective addon makers about their willingness in participating. No permission = no inclusion into the mod until an alternative can be sourced. If anyone out there is interested in participating with the project and have something of any size (big or small) related to the Navy that they'd like to contribute please dont be afraid to leave a comment below or shoot me a PM! Meanwhile Id appreciate any comments/suggestions/concerns/recommendations from the community as to what you think about this project. Thanks!

    Looks like this mod will provide a lot of good times! I can imagine a scenario of an earth defense force/ united nations fighting off aliens on many many maps. perhaps you should expand the human UN mods to include more units, weaponry and vehicles? maybe include national patches of all countries?
  10. Im trying to spawn in the E-2 hawkeye on the nimitz carrier with its wings DOWN and not folded, on game start. I tried this in the init but it doesnt work. this animate ["wingfold_left",0, true]; this animate ["wingfold_right",0, true]; Whats the code for the hawkeye wings?

  12. what is wrong with attachto turrets? the turrets traversing becomes choppy and AI cant shoot/kill anything! someone made a video about it not long ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aLgK83HsWA I was attaching 4 AA turrets to a static ship and the AI could not shoot down 1 aircraft at all!

  15. Hi jarrad, merry christmas mate! I like what you're doing here, there's a lot of potential in making a very unique and varied selection of SF units with the amount of awesome gear and weapon mods out there! Im liking your plan of attack in doing this - using already existing high quality addons instead of making your own which means you get to devote more time on creating the actual configs for the troops. Whats your end goal for this mod? How many factions/units/groups/branches would you like to portray? Happy festive season and hope you have a great chrissy!

    Belravninan Army (BVS)

    i really like the concept, its a great idea. i get the perception of a modern east European country with a bit of a dark history that wants to be highly advanced and not entirely depend on old soviet ideology and equipment. but, there is a lot of room for improvement with the textures and some of the model. I like how you've come up with a unique set of weaponry for this mod, and the organisation of the military is pretty authentic too. definitely keep working on smoothing this mod out, plus add a few interesting high tech stuff down the line which will set apart this mod from other East European countries that are very soviet influenced. Im keen to see what you will come up with for the vehicles. Cheers!
  17. Hi guys, Id like to share this little project Ive been working on. this is a direct port of the Destroyer from Arma 2. Currently its just a static ship to be used as a prop for missions. I have plans to improve this further by adding more functionality to it but not until I learn more about Arma modding.     Takistan bases by Donbass

    good progress so far and bases are looking good from the pictures. one suggestion referring to the Rasman airbase layout on your original (first) post, I prefer to see hospital and prison swapped around. Its better to have the hospital closer to the flight line so patients can be unloaded from helicopters and go straight into a medical tent. and prisoners can be out there so they wont listen in to important info from HQ. :D if you havent already seen this template I think you'll get some good inspiration from it: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=12756

    US Military Mod (80s 90s)

    I dont see a problem with requirements. in fact I love it. why have 50 different M4 mods when there could be 5 high quality ones? Im saying 5 because Im hoping the authors of these 5 mods would be competitive enough to make each others mods beat the others. quality > quantity, to an extent. CUP is a wip. Dont consider what you see to be the end of the developement roadmap. Im sure somewhere down the line they've planned new textures, new sounds and maybe even model revamps. Look ahead people. and of course you get the convenience of having a mod with lots of weapons in it from different classes and types.
  22. some may remember the classic LSD made back for OFP in its days.. Ive always wanted to use it amongst the other available amphibious ships in arma (LHD and LPD) to create the full complement of a marine expeditionary task force but being a really old addon the ship has issues, mainly: 1. its out of proper size 2. textures all weird and in different places 3. fall through the ship in a lot of places I was very proud today to have done SOMETHING in regards to modding arma.. I put the .p3d into object builder, twice the scale of the model, packed model into a pbo and voila! the ship was twice as big (although still doesnt look proportional as to how it should look irl) now the concern is, Id really like to take on this ship as my first project and an entrance into the modding scene however 1. Ive contacted the author and the email is no longer valid 2. I dont have any experience whatsoever. question is, can I continue working on this very old model without having gained express permission from original author with his contact details now expired? if so, Id very much appreciate it if I could be pointed into the right direction as to how I could start fixing up the scale and textures.
