Hello everyone, I have been trying to add custom materials to kenoxite's OFP Materials 1.2. I've added quite a lot of stuff successfully by unpacking pbo's, writing down all the PAA and PAC filenames and added to the config.cpp for OFP Materials. However, I do have problems with two particular addons; SPD Jungle Special Forces and SPD Desert Special Forces. For some reason I cannot unpack these. I've tried UnPBO, PBOTool, WinPBO to no avail. Either I get an empty folder or just a logfile. The creator of the two addons have provided a config.cpp for each of them which lists some of the texture files, but only for wounds. In other words, some parts of the models (backpack and part of the boonie hat for instance) are not impacted by OFP Materials and are therefore much brighter than anything else. I haven't dabbled with these things before, and I was hoping that someone could give me an advice on how to get the list of PAA and PAC files in these two addons respectively. Many thanks in advance. Cheers.

WW4 Extended - Unofficial expansion for WW4 2.5
tkullander replied to kenoxite's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hi peeps, In WW4EXT I'm testing the included CCE2 scenario. When the scenario starts, I get the following dialogue; Works fine, I can use the C key to open the Fwatch menu properly just as expected. I can also change the key bindings as suggested. The problem is if I abort the mission. When restarting, I get the following error; Somehow it seems that the key bindings are messed up after exiting the mission. I cannot use the Fwatch menu, not the switch sight and zeroing function. Not a game breaker, but it would be nifty to have. If I do a complete reinstall I get the dialogue again, but the error shows up after aborting restarting the mission. Any suggestions on where I can correct this manually? Not sure whether the problem lies within Fwatch or WW4EXT. My guess is WW4EXT, but where to start? Thanks in advance! -
I certainly wouldn't complain about that! How complex is the porting? Since you mention you are no scripter, I presume it's mostly about putting markers / triggers in good geographical locations? Yes, I just fought off a squad of winter soldiers on Lingor. My point is that other dynamic missions make it possible to select what factions should be used. For instance, maybe you wish to have only FIA to fight, or maybe both CSAT and FIA. In Dynamic Recon Ops, the mods are also listed, making it possible to select Lingor Rebels and Afrenian Army as OPFOR, for example. This functionality would make all the different ports shine the way they could. Unfortunately I'm no scripter either, but one can always hope.

Guys, big thanks for porting Pilgrimage to different maps - I simply cannot stop playing! Paired with TPW (with some features disabled), Improved Ammo A3 (increased global damage), Advanced movement and rappelling, AI accuracy fix, Mao's weapon sway fix, Rested weapon movement and various sound mods, I've had my most intense Arma experiences during the past week. Awesome. Too bad my computer cannot handle Tanoa with Pilgrimage, but oh well. Was there any thoughts on porting this to Duala? I could imagine it would be very immersive if paired with the Duala units, and perhaps the African factions for CUP. Also, a question related to units.. Is it possible to somehow "narrow down" what factions will be used? For instance, if I play on Dingor and have CUP Units loaded among my mods, I will have Chernarussian rebels dressed for cold environments showing up which kind of breaks the immersion. Maybe this would be a next logical step to improve on Pilgrimage? To be able to select the main factions for red/blue/green/civ in a similar way as in the setup for Dynamic Recon Ops? Anyhow, I mainly wanted to say thanks - Pilgrimage is excellent, and having it ported to other Islands is simply great. Keep up the good work!

Oh yes, this I know. But WW4 2.5 comes with an ECP-compatible config.cpp, which is why I was curious about what it actually does.

What exactly do you mean with "in order to get the models to work"? Do you mean as replacement units for BIS units?

WW4 modpack 2.5 sound replacement mod

Does anyone have version 1.1 available perhaps? Both links are unfortunately dead, and the link provided by zulu1 only contains version 1.0. -
Hey peeps, Just wanted to share something I discovered. I cannot see it has been mentioned here on the BI forums before. After meddling with a ECP + WW4 + WW4EXT mod combination, I noticed that I started crashing on startup when adding a few extra islands to the mix. It seemed like some memory limit was reached somehow due to all the mods I had loaded. There were also some strange issues with sudden extreme lag, all textures (including menus) where blurry and some random objects showed the lowest level of detail, even though I was up close. I have previously messed around with mods in Morrowind/Oblivion, and remembered an application called the 4GB patch by NTCore, which basically allows 32-bit application to utilize 4GB of virtual memory instead of 2GB. This only works in 64-bit environment however. After downloading the application I patched ColdWarAssault.exe, and now it runs sweet as hell with all the mods I want. After patching, I have played approx 10 hours of single player, and have not encountered any crashes or instabilities. I was using the steam version of Arma Cold War Assault, but I also tested briefly on the GOG-version and encountered no issues there either. Just wanted to share this piece of information to anyone having similar issues. The patch can be found on the link below (please note that I have no affiliation with NTCore what-so-ever). The application also backs up the original file (ColdWarAssault.exe.Backup) in case you would experience any issues. http://ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php Cheers.

WW4 Extended - Unofficial expansion for WW4 2.5
tkullander replied to kenoxite's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Thanks for this! I love WW4, anything building upon it is definitely nice. Two things however; 1. Support for ECP would be very appreciated. ECP with WW4 is my dream combination, and one of the best parts is that you provide replacement units that works perfectly with the campaigns. The replacement units does however not work when using EPC (even with Sanctuary's modified config), instead the vanilla BIS units loads. Luckily Marc13Bautista sorted out a config which makes it work for your replacement units when running ECP (thanks for that!) with WW4 animations. Maybe you could get his permission to include it in future releases? 2. I noticed a bug. When trying the WW4EXT version of the "Steal the car" mission, I got an error message when trying to blow up a pickup truck. It said something like "Cannot play sound ww4expl" whenever the truck exploded, and there was of course no sound. Keep up the good work, looking very much forward to an update. :-) -
Thank you, worked like a charm! And also a huge thank you for creating the ww4-pack, it adds exactly what i want in OFP. Before i used a lot of small mods, or FFUR, but now the only mods i need are ECP and WW4. Well, of course you at some points wish to play in different environments, so i keep AfghanEveron+Afghanpack and Tonal Redux ready of course, but WW4 is always loaded on every start. My hat is of for you!

Okay, i am using ECP 1.085e and the WW4-mod (2.5 with patch 1). There is a snow effect, which you can activate by placing a unit: Game Logic > WW4 Logics > Enable snow My first question is, how can i make it snow during a mission? For example, a simple west-present trigger would be enough, but i cannot figure out how to do it. And question number two, is it possible to control the standard weather settings with simple triggers as well? Also for changing the forecast and stuff during the mission. I do not wish to use any addons for it (since it's MP). Thanks in advance for the help.
-
Ah, how could i miss those commands?! Thank you very much. :) I tried grouping the game logic (which is just placed somewhere, and suddenly it is snowing everywhere) to a trigger, but with no result. I suppose it would be possible to maybe spawn the game logic unit midgame, but i have no idea how. Anyhow, thanks for the info on the weather related commands.

Hi guys. I am currently trying out OFP (or Cold War Assault as it is called today) on my old eeePC 900. It's running decently smooth, but i have a small problem... I am running Cold War Assault 1.99, and have installed ECP 1.085e and SLX 1.093 successfully. Both mods run without problems. When i am using the config for running both mods at the same time, everything starts, and seemingly works flawlessly, except for one thing. I get this error message in the main menu at times; "Cannot load mission, missing addons: bis_resistance" I have installed both mods by renaming ColdWarAssault.exe to FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.exe, and by removing \Res and \HWTL from the installer file in SLX (not \res_foliage though). I am also using the included mod config in SLX, the one called @ECP+@SLX. My shortcut looks like this; "C:\Games\Arma Cold War Assault\ColdWarAssault.exe" -nosplash -nomap -mod=@SLX;@ECP;@ECP+@SLX If anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this, it would be much appreciated. I'm having a real hard time ignoring that error message! ;) Also, keep in mind i am running this combo because the computer have very basic specs. For example, FFUR '85 have a much higher impact on performance. Therefore, if you would suggest other mods and stuff, keep the low-end specs in mind. Thanks in advance for the help! :)
-
Thanks for the suggestion Icarus! However, i tried that shortcut but it won't even start the game. If i understood the SLX readme correctly configs overwrites previous parameters and settings (if two configs have settings for the same parameters). Therefore, i first need to load both ECP and SLX, and the combined config in the end just makes them work together. Anyhow, thanks for a quick answer. Take care you to.

Eh, Nookie is not a Swedish word, and i don't know what it means so the joke is lost on me, sorry. But you got me curious to what it means, so please tell!

Hi there! I could really use some help fixing a issue with OFP/CWA. Just installed it on my laptop, but i am having some strange issues. Without warning the game freezes for about 10 seconds (while the current sound, if any, just repeats), then it starts running again. I'll post some aspects of the problem; I have not been able to find certain actions that triggers the freeze - sometimes when firing a LAW, sometimes while just standing still. Something i have noticed though, is that objects seems to be reloaded / redrawn when the freeze is over. Stuff like trees and bushes disappears and pops up again very quickly right after the freeze. The intervall between freezes vary between 15 minutes to 15 seconds, but it seems like the game is freezing more often the longer you play. This is not a performance issue - i have a very stable framerate, sometimes for 10 minutes or so, until the game freezes 10 seconds again. These are the things i have tried; Tried GOTY 1.96 and CWA 1.99, same problem on both. (of course i use legal versions) Autodetect for graphics gives me pretty high settings (which actually works fine), but when adjusting down the graphics to extremely low settings there is slightly less freezing, but still at a unplayable rate. Raising the values impose regular lag. I run the game in 'Direct 3D HWTL', since it runs smoother and the freeze problem persists in plain 'Direct 3D'. I have tried running mods (FFUR 2008 1.05, TonalRedux) and of course clean installs of Resistance and even Classic Flashpoint. Results are about the same (Tonal had less freezes, but it feels like it's a coincidence) I have played OFP on alot of different computers, and never had this problem before. It is quite disturbing since it's the only computer i own, and the only game i really play these days is OFP. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you very much for taking the time to read this.

Game occasionally freezes for 10 seconds
tkullander replied to tkullander's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
Will try it, is away on vacation at the moment, will post results when i am back. Thanks for the tips! If i ever catch that friggin' Murphy... ---------- Post added at 06:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:24 PM ---------- Yeah, i checked all processes - nothin' out of the ordinary. I also disabled my AV software (comodo), and of course rebooted my computer frequently during my tests. That's the thing, i usually figure these kind of problems out - this one seems like a hard one to crack... Thanks for the reminder though! -
My own personal opinion; I would prefer having female soldiers in the game. Even though i mostly don't play through the campaigns, i would certainly like to have the choice of using female characters in the editor, armed and kickin', civilian or enlisted. By not allowing female civilians to use weapons, the immersion is ruined - if it's female, it just cannot be a armed insurgent dressed as a civilian.. It just seems a bit conservative to me not to have female soldiers in the game. In Sweden the amount of women in the military have been increasing alot the last years. 22% of the recruits in 2010 were female, and it seems like it's a steady trend (source in swedish). What female recruiting statistics does you country have? I also think that the fears of having 'lara-croft-look-alikes' are a bit exaggerated. Please take a look at the image below. It pictures four swedish MP recruits training Urban Combat. One of them is female, and a friend of mine. Can you guess which one is her? My point is, from a distance of about 25 or more meters it can be hard to distinguish a female soldier from a male soldier in full combat gear. If implemented, i trust BI to present female soldiers in a realistic and nonsexist manner. Thank you all. Over and out.

Game occasionally freezes for 10 seconds
tkullander replied to tkullander's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
When i have tried with mods i use the normal parameters, plus the -nosplash parameter. I have also tried running it with no parameters at all, with the same result. Yes, i did check it out earlier. Problem is that the game freezes for about 10 seconds, while the interval of the freeze may vary from 10 seconds to about 15 minutes. In other words, i don't think it's the same issue. Also, that solution is obsolete since nvidia removed the option of alternate depth buffering in their drivers years ago. Hmm, this is a really strange problem. Why does issues always occur to the most important games..? -
Game occasionally freezes for 10 seconds
tkullander replied to tkullander's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
Correct, i have also checked the CPU temperature, and it is within normal rates. Terrain detail is set to low (i have also tried normal), i avoid high and very high since it supposedly creates glitches. I don't know what LOD stands for, but the settings are as follows; Max Objects: 256 (highest) Objects LOD: 0,019 (about 75% on the scale) Shadows LOD: 0,050 (about 60% on the scale) What is LOD, and how does it affect the performance? -
Game occasionally freezes for 10 seconds
tkullander replied to tkullander's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
Thank you! Sorry, forgot to include the specs on my laptop. Though i really do not think it is the performance on my laptop which is the problem. I have played OFP from time to time since it's release in 2001, and i remember the trouble to make it work somewhat playable on my 500mhz with 128mb ram. :) My laptop is a HP Pavilion DV6064ea, which means; AMD Turion 64 X2 1,6ghz 1GB of RAM Nvidia GeForce Go 7200 128mb Running good old Windows XP It is certainly not top of the line, but definitly enough. I can play Swat 4, Rainbow Six: Raven Shield and Delta Force Xtreme, all on higher settings. I also play ArmA Combat Operations on low settings, and it runs very smooth. Maybe i have bad luck (compability issues with hardware or something) but as i said i do not believe it to be a performance related problem. Of course, i may be wrong (but i would certainly be surprised!) ;) ---------- Post added at 02:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:48 PM ---------- Oh, by the way - when i crank down the settings to the config my old 500mhz could handle (running classic flashpoint), the freezing issues remains.
