I think the FPS/Performance is not about that people want to play with 10k+ view distance. I play arma on Lenovo y510p and i found a visual settings with i have 30+ FPS in the editor! But i simply can't play the campaign or missions with that settings fluid. I don't care when sometime the FPS drop(huge explosions), but it isn't the case. I don't know why is that. AI? Scripts? I would rather have more FPS instead of better/smarter AI or graphic. If the AI is the CPU killer, then why we can't change AI settings like the graphics? I know that it sounds strange. I don't know what is the bottleneck, but I imagine settings like /Fast, Normal, Precise/ which manage how much time the AI "think". Or maybe I'm voracious and i want to much from my HW? -

I voted Yes, I like the new method because it isn't break the beauty of the Arma 3. I think the restrictions are acceptable. If you don't own the DLC you should play with available vehicles. You drive your car, not someone else's. You can try it before you buy it, it's fair. Good job BIS! You always make me surprise! :)

Make test cases where you can compare behaviors during the speedup and normal speed. If there is a simplified simulation then maybe we should have it in the settings(Max Physics sim. delta time, Max AI sim. delta time) and players can decrease these to gain more in single player FPS. My second tip is that the simulation and the rendering is joined somehow and the engine can't render as much image as want. I'm not a game developer, but this is an interesting thing. -

I compared one critical object behavior in unigine and in Arma3. Here is one more:https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/71026113/LinkedContent/unigine_sg_forum.png How do you search and target the landing zone or enemy in the green shape? If you fly closer than rocks appear just like in red shape. Unigine fail in terrain simulation. It is only a "Looking good" engine for arcade games. Nothing more! I never tested the CryEngine but i think it is same category like Unigine.

I found two serious issues with the AI during the campaign. These happened with me 3 times so after rage quit i made tickets (with the save games for the reproducing). Here are you are : AI stuck and not move - http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=18039 AI not move to the ordered position - http://feedback.arma3.com/view.php?id=18042 I noticed the "AI not move to the ordered position" issue many times before, but now it is easy to reproduce. Check these sasp, please!

I have an idea to make AAR possible, but not in VBS style. I think it is impossible without engine support. I will make some concepts and post it here asap. -
Dunk: +1 They added lot of things into the Arma 3 engine. PhysX, DX-11, underwater and more complex animations which maybe consumed more resources than they thought before. But now it's there. I hope that BIS in the future will have time to refact the current systems instead of adding new(just like they did it with the animations, animals). They can easily climb over the uncanny valley if they want to.

I noticed huge fps drop in the latest devbranch. With no mods on stable i have 35 fps on the stratis if i start it from the editor. With the latest devbranch in same situation i have 5 fps. Changing the settings doesn't really matter. This is since EXE rev. 116103(win update). I don't know that it caused by the last(116121) or the previous(116103) but currently it is unplayable! BIS's develpoers: How can i debug what cause this drag? Deleting PBOs or is there any script command which can help you to grain some useful informations? DxDiag, Settings screenshots and force crash with command CRASH are here. Edit: I restarted the steam and now it's OK. I have 35 fps in devbuild too. Strange...

Many thanks to BIS for re-factoring the radar system! Currently the ground vehicles doesn't detects the ground and air vehicles. Only AA vehicles detects air vehicles. I think that the new setup is satisfying and instead of suggest more advanced system(script commands and configs): What about suggest a Radar module. The Radar module can placed in the editor and synchronize with units/vehicles/static objects just like other modules. The synchronized items shares the radar information between each other.

Cheetah and Zsu-39 don't have mounted radars. Zsu-23 (Arma 2) has mounted radar(big white cylinder), but arma 3 ones doen't so it is OK as it is now. The problem is that the AI is still using the radar information.

Well, as i experienced not really. The AI detected me. Maybe BIS forgot about it or it will be fixed later.
