That is actually a disgrace. It is like the designers couldn't be bothered to sort pathfinding in that area. We're dealing with AS (artificial stupidity) here not AI !!

Been playing this on my dedi for quite a while today. Enjoying it. Are there any plans for revive (from other AI groups?) I've not got enough points for my own squad yet, that I would assume they would revive me (if alive) but it would be cool (ala psychobastard's AIS). Once an area is taken over by BLUFOR I don't find the AI being told to move onto another area. Something not quite right ? EDIT: Just found a friendly boat spawned on a road !!!

The problem isn't just cost. I'm afraid the message of the wonders of VR hasn't got out to the general public yet. Once people actually TRY VR for the first time they are sold and will buy a unit.

Latest binary (v5 on dedi server) playing Total Conquest by @tvig0r0us with 192 AI in a heat battle environment .... stable 48FPS constantly !! Good job BIS. -

I don't mind running over Zombies but I do mind running over my own. Come to think of it, even a zombie making SOME attempt at getting out of the way of a vehicle would be amazing. Upshot of all this is .... we NEED a) better drivers b) smarter life-preserving AI c) a+b -

Mouse over my avatar and you'll see I've been around a LONG time here. If I thought it was an unacceptible game I wouldn't STILL be playing it. However, there are issues that have never really been dealt with by BIS - driving is one of them (jesus, just look at tanks - they can't even reverse !) This thread isn't about reversing tanks, but about immersion breaking AI roadrage! It just so happens that DRIVING OVER TROOPS is as immersion breaking as it can get. If we don't keep complaining about this then nothing will get done and you'll be 'spackling' your whole life. Oh and less of the 'bud' - you don't know me well enough. -
Red/cyan unfortunately is a very poor substitute (as you can imagine!) I wish I was able to demo my Rift and Touch to everyone ... that would really help with the uptake. Once you try VR, it IS hard to go back to flat gaming. VR _is_ the future. PC specs are rising, generation2 HMDs are really shaping up, and investors are pumping billions into it. Jump on that bandwagon asap guys. LOL it is the exact opposite for me. The more hectic the game that more you forget about real reality and are totally immersed. I DEFY anyone to try Dirt Rally in VR with a force feedback wheel and pedals and not squeal with delight. Fecking amazing right there !

@clawhammer have you ACTUALLY tried VR because it doesn't sound like it? In VR there is a massive sense of immersion. Just look at the latest release of Star Trek : Bridge Crew for instance! Or using Google Earth! The reason we can't have VR for us here is because ARMA 3 brings even massive rigs to their knees normally. It is not made for VR. However look at the amount of money being invested in VR and AR.... Billions! Sure the technology is still first generation but it is massively impressive, and more than good enough to convince your brain that you are THERE! Just been walking on Mars today :) If certainly is NOT 'putting screens on your eyes'! We don't need that Luddite view.

Loving it so far! Is there a way to increase the viewing distance of the vehicle positions ? It seems like I nearly have to be right up them AND pointing at where they should be. Could that be lessened a little (perhaps out by 1-2m) ? -
How does it feel @jumpinghubert? Convincing? I've been following Vorpx for a while but haven't heard great things about it. Is there any lag? If fps is less than 90 you could get sick. I know that Rift has ATW AND ASW but even then it may not good enough. Please let us know as I'd be tempted.

It would be the same as sending units into cover .... they have to find that cover first of all. Surely you'd just have to set a temporary waypoint OFF the road by 10m then get the troops back on again when the vehicle has passed. -

The attention in that thread you quoted is about navigation of roads. I'm not talking about that directly. My point is about saving soldiers from being run over! Either soldiers get a way to avoid traffic or vehicles have an extra check for pedestrians. -

Here's a suggestion ... fix it. Here's the analysis ... mixed arms doesn't work as AI (should actually call them AS - Artificial Stupidity) can't move out of a bloody vehicle ! Can't be arsed with the indepth dissection. I CAN however put this on general so that DEVs know that we (the supporters for a LONG time!) would like it looked into. Blah blah .... squeaky wheel etc etc -

Still not really acceptable however. It seems that all vehicles really do head towards for you. Just spent 30 minutes watching a 'shit' ballet where about 15 vehicles TRIED to get through a town at the same time. Just sad. If I'd thown a series of troops in there too ... ALL would be dead !
