[Patch 1.05 Bug] AI won't follow player

The ticket was expired. Guess BIS does not view this as an issue at all.

Well then i really hope the community can make a fix because it's a AMAZINGLY annoying issue which makes controlling AI a pain and at times impossible :(

Well SNKMAN's GL4 does have a "Force Move" feature which is very cool but even with that, I still have the occasional troops who just won't move. Would be nice if they fixed it at the source.

Perhaps Suma didn't see whats the real bug + annoyance is?

Problem:

The player has to wait in or after combat till his AI #2 tells all others that its "safe". The AI's in team are now staying "danger-stasis" - regardless if the player give the order Aware or Safe.

How it should work:

The AI should strictly follow the order given by leader/player in and after combat.

Examples:

1. During combat the group has to cross quickly a road or should run/retreat to a better place.

2. Shortly after the battle the group has to follow their leader to board a vehicle and to withdraw before enemy's APC's can destroy this vehicle.

Now its like the player is not in charge of his AI team/group. Imho if the player gives the wrong order he should be responsible for any loss or mission failure. If he gives the right order he should stay responsible too.

I have described it myself. Others have described it. Honestly, what do we have to do to get this fixed?

I really dont understand what happened here. I keep checking for Beta updates about this. Guess we have to open a new ticket.

+1^^ I couldn't agree more. I feel like I am not in control of my team as the leader. If I'm not mistaken I think this would be rank insubordination, or something of that nature, in the military ;).

Might be a good time to petition BI for the old AI back -seemed fine to me and I'd rather have them listen to my orders than anything else.

Why with torches and pitchforks of course!

There were a couple of threads about it in the Beta section, so perhaps we should re-load them up to the top and ask Suma about it.

I came across this post and responded today and it seems to catch the attention of others, like yourself, so maybe you are correct. Let's push them all to the top and go in guns a blazin, LOL.

We already moaned about it in the beta thread before final 1.05 patch was released but to no avail :(

But okay lets try again :)

I believe this was what broke the AI:

[60718] Changed: AI now goes to Combat behaviour automatically only when under fire, not when player is prone.

I'm confused. I replied to the 'bounding overwatch' thread in Beta section, but is that actually a separate issue? Is this even seen as a bug and/or problem by the devs (please say yes)?

I miss playing, and want to get back to creating my own little missions and bossing my AI around, but every time I try, this issue frustrates me to the point of quitting.

Good, bad, or ugly, I just want my darn bots to do as I ask. Please.

Edit: Is this the correct ticket to watch/vote for, etc?

Might as well add to this thead. I of course get the same experience. I'm having a fantastic mission and all of a sudden my troops refuse to respond to my follow order, and decide they aren't going any further and have had enough of war. :(

They still follow other orders live move here, they even say 'roger' if I tell them to follow, but they just won't follow, the stand still. Agh it's really annoying. :mad:

EDIT: Found a temparery fix. If it's possible to team switch then try that, then go back to the team leader, and it should work again.

I am using 1.07 / OA 1.52 and this still happens... they just stop moving/obeying at all from time to time.

And if I switch team into such an unit, do nothing at all and only press a movement key sometimes even I CAN NOT move a single step.

However going prone and standing up again "resets" the blocked unit somehow.
