Map Plus v1.0 (No Satellite Texture, Added Ruler, Compass, Line Drawing)

Recommended Posts

For Swedish keyboards the line creating buttons are (close to RETURN button);

Ã¥ + LMB = Initial dot

^ + LMB = Draw a line from initial dot

* + LMB = Delete last created line

The * and ^ are actually made with SHIFT here just to more easily show what buttons it is. Youll know when you see it. Those 2 buttons are aligned with the RETURN button on your keyboard.

Oh and great tools! :)

Alex

Sweet addon. So they STILL do things this way in the Army? I would have thought that with GPS and Google Earth type stuff being provided on computers that you would simply let the computers figure it out.

GPS could not be available at some point. Either you lose your GPS device or GPS is actually disabled (for whatever reason, satellites blow away, you are OPFOR and they are disabling data in your area, etc).

Doesn't seem to do anything here!

I have the latest betapatch 60393.

Everything just looks thesame in the map and the ruler and compass don't work.

Don't know what causses it.

Pitty.

I haven't tried in the beta. The only thing I can imagine that would cause that is them changing the class name of the map control. That would be incredibly odd.

It works with the latest beta for me, but only when I'm in the mission. For some reason the map is stock Arma2 during briefing, but switches to this improved version for the mission.

Ah, you know, those are separate controls. I should fix that as well...

I'd leave it the way that it is or make it separate add ons.

Having the textures and such during the briefing is like having aerial photo's etc.

Once you are out in the field it's the basic map and what you can remember from the briefing.

This looks like an awesome addon - just removing the map textures itself would have me say so. :)

I do have one request, though: would you mind making the keys configurable? The key setup you have conflicts with my keys so at the moment I cannot use your addon.

Alternatively, if key config is too much work, would you mind releasing this without the features that require key presses?

The changed map satellite texture values, as well as the better visible contour lines are now included in ACE2. Hopefully I can work with them to include the other features as well.

Also I noticed that in the 1.05 patch of ArmA2 they have added more visible contour lines! Thanks BIS! Its the little things that sometimes make a huge difference! :D

Great mod. Is there a way to implement this so it works via the editor instead of the in-game map? It would be useful there too with the GL4 mod. In that mod, you can set distance based parameters for AI reinforcements and it would be nice to measure how far things are in the editor map with this mod. For example, one can configure the GL4 AI to call in reinforcements that are closer that 2000m. With this tool, you could simple measure that exactly and place the group of AI.

Yep, things are coming along quite nicely. I think I have cracked the magic numbers to get the thing to scale correctly on any map at any resolution and aspect ratio...

Working on a couple of other things. I am not sure how much more I want to add to this before I release.

I want to start implementing some thingst hat were in Spoons map addon from ArmA1, mainly more icons to add on the map, as well as being able to rotate the icons in the map as well.

I am working on a sharing option right now. You move up to someone who has the maptools and you can cop their map to your map with all the lines and stuff. Takes a few seconds to copy so you have to stay still. ;)

Right now actually I am moving all my public variables into the correct namespace that i finally registered on OFPEC (thanks Sick and Kill and everyone else who helped me in the CBA thread).

Can't play tactically without mapplus. It has been my essential tool in mission planning for months. :)

Will the new one be included in ACE2? I heard you are now member of the ACE Team, so I guess yes
