dm 9 Posted March 19, 2010 Well, turns out that deleting the GameSettings.bin and letting the engine make a new one fixed the freeze (so far, fingers crossed)
sic-disaster 311 Posted March 19, 2010 It's weird how many people have problems with BC2, because the beta worked fine for everyone i think. At least i didnt hear any complaining about it.
Bulldogs 10 Posted March 20, 2010 I like PB. Only rarely ever had issues with it and it's always been fixable through manual PB updating. The one system I really don't like is Securom. Only because according to the underground community it is extremely easy to hack and, like Norton anti-virus, it implants itself in odd places in your registry and if for any reason that becomes corrupt then it prevents you from playing any securom game again unless you do several hours of tactful registry editing (with some 3rd party programs since Securom tries to block your intrusion even though it didn't block itself from becoming corrupt in the first place). Well, registry edit or just take the better option and reinstall your OS. Oh and Norton, I just plain hate Norton. "Would you like to uninstall Norton Anti-virus?" "yes I would" "well we know that you really don't want to so we'll say we removed it then we'll leave many files scattered across your computer and registry and leave several processes running in the background that'll slow down your system more than when you were running Norton Anti-virus. Thank you, have a nice day"
jblackrupert 14 Posted March 20, 2010 It's weird how many people have problems with BC2, because the beta worked fine for everyone i think. At least i didnt hear any complaining about it. There was an enormous amount of complaints about the BETA also tons of people couldn't join servers and when you could it went from pretty smooth to a unplayable lagfest as more people joined. TangoRomeo 10 Posted March 20, 2010 It's weird how many people have problems with BC2, because the beta worked fine for everyone i think. I´m curious, during the beta, was it possible for OPFOR medics to revive opponents? Re. infinite revive-kill loop. Only rarely ever had issues with it and it's always been fixable through manual PB updating. Already tried this, also running BC2 as admin.
Bulldogs 10 Posted March 21, 2010 PB has been known to conflict with certain anti-virus software as well. You can add the PB services (a & b) to the exception list if you are running an anti-virus, also make sure that BC2 and PB are on your firewalls exception list (in the case of a router or hardware firewall then open the suggested ports)
Guest Posted March 24, 2010 Haven't played for over a week, I don't even know why lol... Maybe I'll boot her up later on today.
Bulldogs 10 Posted March 24, 2010 My guess is that you didn't have time to wait for the server browser to load. My copy finally arrived yesterday and haven't had much time to play multiplayer (finished singleplayer at my friends place but never bothered playing multiplayer) but other than some annoying niggles it's quite excellent. Of course the niggles being that they haven't fixed the multiplayer browser from BF2. That being that if you want to search for a quick game (join now) without browsing, you can't choose ranked or PB only matches. The second problem being that if you do go to the normal server browser, then hit search, make a cup of coffee, watch a TV show, do some gardening and by the time you come back it should have almost loaded your servers. (this problem has been since BF2 that it has to query the master server list which has to update each time you ask, so if you live far from the master servers like say, Australia, then it's very slow) Of course after it has loaded the server list you see a bunch of games that have slots open so you click to join those games only to get a 10 second pause before "Server currently full". The one difference they seem to have put in place since BF2 is that if you don't manage to enter a server within a few minutes then it decides to auto-update again, this time taking 3 times longer to update (and sometimes it just sits on updating forever). I still can't understand why the battlefield games are the only ones that have this horrible problem. The first time I played though I decided to use the "join now" option rather than waiting for the server browser, and I had to hit "join now" 12 times because each time it would return with "server currently full", but eventually when I did get in I was getting destroyed. I couldn't do a single thing but spray and pray before getting destroyed. My K/D ratio was at 2:13. I thought that I had lost all skill til I noticed it was a no PB server, so I went back and found a PB only server and sat on that for hours slaughtering everyone with ease (and by that I mean coming around the mid area) Overall, other than the annoying browser issues it's a heck of a lot of fun. TangoRomeo 10 Posted March 24, 2010 Pretty much gave up on it, as far as public servers are concerned.
Flash Thunder 10 Posted March 24, 2010 Well i do have to say that its getting better, the server browser doesnt take light years to refresh anymore, only about 10 seconds. Also since I've been playing alot with my clan United gaming federation, I've noticed that the game can get fairly unbalanced when you got alot of people that have unlocks in a game with abunch of noobies with no unlocks. I mean you start out with nothing unlocked! Why do you have to unlock the ammo box, medic kit, and repair tool???? I think that was a poor design choice, anyways you pretty much suck until you're level 5, where you have a decent amount of unlocks Dice still needs to balance the weapons more, pistols being stronger than LMG's, shotguns taking multiple shots to kill at f'ing point blank.... Also wheres the sights/scopes for the M14 EBR???? Only ironsight are you kidding me Dice?? Lets hope that DICE makes a few Weapon DLC's, they pretty much did a copy and paste from Bad company 1's weapon roster.
Bulldogs 10 Posted March 25, 2010 the server browser doesnt take light years to refresh anymore Sorry to go slightly OT but I hate when people use "light years" as a measurement of time, being that a light year and a year are the same amount of time and a light year is actually a measurement of distance light can travel in a year.... ... and the server browser still takes light years to load for me. Another odd thing, yesterday every server was giving me a ping of 13-70 which was sweet, now I'm getting 150-300 on the same servers, yet every other game runs at non-changed ping. I thought it was just a lag in the server browser but I've had several times when I load someone full of bullets then they kill me, then they drop dead and I get a kill. Still, I'm sure the problems will be ironed out soon enough.
Flash Thunder 10 Posted March 25, 2010 why is it that almost every server is ran by a bunch of prepubescent power nazis? I asked this one guy to balance out the teams since it was squad deathmatch i was by myself against the whole squads, getting owned, and I get a nice mature message pop up on my screen. and a boot. Anyways im getting awfully tired of playing people who just like to spawn noobtubes, just like in real war, lots of grenades..... :j:

Bulldogs 10 Posted March 26, 2010 Odd thing today. One of my mates wants to buy it but he didn't want to get the Steam version so while I was at the shops I decided to check the local games stores to see if it was cheap anywhere. Went into JB Hifi and couldn't see any PC games so I asked where the PC games section went and got, "We don't stock PC games anymore. It's a fading format and not profitable to stock them", fortunately it only seems to be the one store that's decided to take that route.
Guest Posted March 26, 2010 I decided to buy this game as well since a few people I am playing with bought it too and I am actually enjoying it. Great action, good atmosphere. Only the server browser sucks cookies (no response, servers full all the time, servers gone etc). And...........for some weirdo reason i can not add any friends. I can sent requests but they never recieve them and I never recieve their friend requests neither.
ziiip 1 Posted March 27, 2010 (edited) Only the server browser sucks cookies (no response, servers full all the time, servers gone etc). You have to cancel the auto refresh and all the servers will pop up immediately. Btw I remember that someone suggested sharing our ingame names, so mine is ziiip in BC2. 7 0 Posted March 31, 2010 (edited) I wish there was an option to remove squad-spawn in HC mode. Did they even think that feature through? One guy arming M-COM suddenly turns into four. Bullshit! There's no point in trying to hold the line when all it takes is one dude to completely destroy any defense your team had what-so-ever. Edit: And they even removed scope sway from beta. Snipers in HC are a pain already, scope sway could've made them require a bit more skill to use. Now it's just point, click and kill! Zipper5 74 Posted March 31, 2010 Perhaps you should refrain from playing hardcore then? Personally, I really, really want some server browser and connection issues fixed. Namely adding many more filter options to the server browser, a constantly updating list of servers behind the dialogue box when you hit refresh, and for someone to fix this damn bug that logs me out when I try to join certain servers. These are the only things stopping me from loving the game. :(
Madus_Maximus 0 Posted March 31, 2010 (edited) Odd thing today. It's a fading format and not profitable to stock them", fortunately it only seems to be the one store that's decided to take that route. Give it another couple of years and that'll be the case pretty much everywhere. It'll all be digital downloads or where you have to order it from places like Amazon if you want the physical copy. Even the HUGE HMV's and so on here in the UK (they're a massive retailer of games/music/films) have like 1 shelf dedicated to PC games, most of them are old titles in the budget bin (like "Best Seller" series etc) or the latest multi-format tripe poorly ported over. Even in GAME (they sell erm... games lol) only have half a shelf for PC games now, same situation as above. Checking Steam shows a bad picture too looking at the latest releases, there's next to no PC only games released any more. Most that are tend to be indie stuff (which is often pretty damn good concept wise but can be a little unpolished due to lack of funds). PC gaming is beocming an even bigger niche. Maybe the move to the Mac platform for Steam and their porting of their current titles, and native release of new ones will bring the market out of the crapper as Macs tend to be far more capable hardware wise (think of the % of Macs running Intel CPU's capable of running games vs's the % of PC's capable of it). On the game itself. I'm not too sure why they keep some of the console limitations (if you can call them that) in the PC version. It's not like you can play against console players so any advantages you'd get using the mouse/keyboard or extra functionality isn't really an issue. Things like the lack of prone and leaning really tick me off and the somewhat pathetic time enemies remain. It's annoying in single player too when you load a checkpoint (another thing I hate about console oriented games, unless they've been done well) all the bodies have vanished and you can't nick their weapons. Madus_Maximus 0 Posted April 1, 2010 "Macs tend to be far more capable hardware wise" Running games???huh what? Look at the vast majority of PC's sold these days. They're almost exlusively low powered laptops with shockingly poor GPU's and aniemic CPU's. Macs on the other hand tend to be better at the low end than most mid range PC's, unless you get a gaming rig (which is a niche market no matter what we like to think). Shove Windows on pretty much any Intel based Mac and they'll be able to run most games released in their respective release period. They're kind of like the middle ground between PC's and consoles in that they have fixed hardware configs, like consoles, but there's still several configs available and they get progressively better far more often than consoles, like PC. jblackrupert 14 Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) Mac pro's comes with a GT 120 which is a rebranded 9500GT and thats after forking out over $2500 before tax. Xeon's are not gaming CPU's either. I'm also betting the Mac Pro case won't be allowing any new ATI or Nvidia cards unless you take a pair of tinsnips to it. http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/family/mac_pro?mco=MTM3NTI1NTI For that price and specs I could buy 2 PC's and play with a friend.
