SASrecon 0 Posted September 13, 2009 3D style?!? if you get sick because of te head-bob you can turn it off somewhere in the escape menu in the game, not sure about the demo tho.
DaSquade 0 Posted September 13, 2009 I suppose you have the headbopping way high. Lower it. Here i have it almost disabled. It is a nice feature, but only enjoyable in long missions if you have it on a very low setting. Maybe it is also due to the blur feature. It add an other stress/concentration factor on your brains. Lower/disable it aswell. Use the search function in case you don't know how to lower/disable the above features. It has been covered in many topic on the forums by now :) . -=seany=- 5 Posted September 13, 2009 I like the head bob, but if its enabled,I like to use 3rd person view sometimes for moving about to relieve the stress a bit :)
kklownboy 43 Posted September 13, 2009 headbob to me is a 3D view. But in First person, anymore that the lowest it is just to hard for me now...
Drew 10 Posted September 13, 2009 turn Postprocessing/head bob off and your headaches will go away.
lockjaw-65- 0 Posted September 13, 2009 (edited) just go to options, game options and lower the slider for head bob right down :-) Edited September 13, 2009 by LockJaw-65-
Bulldogs 10 Posted September 13, 2009 It has to do with the way the brain processes images. While many people aren't affected by it, a lot of people do get a headache from it (the brain can't process what's going on), in other cases people get sea sick or have seasures. Disabling Post processing and removing headbob usually gets rid of the problem, but if not then you should be careful because it's usually a sign of the onset of other issues and could cause seasures in other instances. (In other words, see your GP)
Joseph Troska 0 Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) Yes removing the head bob is very important if the game is making you feel unwell. In my case playing in widescreen was causing mild seizures as well as a general feeling of motion sickness. I had to select 4:3 aspect ratio in the options and force my 22" monitor to display 4:3 also. The only problem is that I can't use any resolution higher than 1280x960, because I don't know how to force Windows to display higher 4:3 resolutions (such as 1600x1200) because Windows knows I have a 22" monitor and can't differentiate when I have my monitor forced to 4:3. Alex72 1 Posted September 17, 2009 First time i played ARMA2 made me sick as hell. I had motion sickness even the next day where i felt like puking all the time. I wasnt aware of the headbob slider lol. But damn i got sick... I removed it completelly at first, but now im on 30-40% cause its very nice and removes that stale stick in the arse feel. :)
Flaxpants 10 Posted September 17, 2009 I know where you're coming from, last night I vommitted over my keyboard, it was such a long mission that I was able to get 12 beers down as opposed to the usual 5.
icebreakr 3159 Posted September 17, 2009 ROTF flaxpants, that reminds me of our weekly squadnights... in fact, today is time for another one :)
Master gamawa 0 Posted September 17, 2009 I have reduced my headbob slider too because I felt like I was playing a crazy person. Human eyes have the ability to stay focused even when the body moves (Vestibulo-ocular reflex or something). When you run in real life you can set your eyes on something and have no problems maintaining contact. In Arma 2, running on default head bobbing felt disorienting and panicky. I wouldn't mind if the default head bob was a simulation of being shocked from damage or fire suppression.... you know like "oH mY GOD i just got shot I must run for cover like a crazy panicked person!" Good thing with Arma is that most annoying features are configurable and those that aren't... are modable.
kavoven 4 Posted September 17, 2009 This isn't about a point you can fix with your eyes but about different signals coming into your brain. On the on hand you've got a really fast moving picture that indicates your moving and on the other hand you've got no moving signals at all from your body (your balance system for example) This results is feeling sick... echo1 0 Posted September 17, 2009 Yeah, although it didn't make me physically sick, the head bob and blur did make me uncomfortable. Turning it down made it playable again. They really should have turned the default down, but I guess it's too late for that now.
-RIP- Luhgnut 10 Posted September 17, 2009 once you get over the initial "motion sickness" soon you're brain will get programmed to accept it. Remember the first (very first) first person shooters? I'm talking Wolfenstein 3D and Doom.... they didn't have paralax scrolling worked out and you got really sick all the time. When you turned, images in the distance moved as fast as images in front of you. First Person shooters now warp the picture around the sides a little as you turn. Check it out next time you play, you probably didn't even notice. But turn slowly around and notice how the sides warp in and out of the horizon. It's to reduce the car sick feeling. Pretty smart. Dwarden 1126 Posted September 17, 2009 there is HUGE warning in manual and i think small even at box about possible motion sikcness and other issues caused by e.g. too long gaming
SWAT_BigBear 0 Posted September 17, 2009 yea, but I'm with Flaxpants, There is no warning "You will be playing fun, long missions" that will increase the amount of alcohol you normally consume. In which case "headbob" automatically turns it self back on......then comes the auto blur!
kavoven 4 Posted September 18, 2009 there is HUGE warning in manual and i think small even at box about possible motion sikcness and other issues caused by e.g. too long gaming Well, this problem doesn't occur after HOURS of gaming but just after a few moves. Today it takes me about 10 seconds watching HL2 for example and I feel sick...
