    Congratulations on BAF!

Yep, BIS have generally taken a large step forward with OA and BAF, the whole thing is so much more polished than what we had when Arma2 was first released. I think the voice acting on BAF is great too, a huge step up IMHO. I am also loving the campaign. Good on you BIS for raising your own bar and constantly improving what you do, that's why we all stick around!

    Men of War

Been playing this weekly over a LAN with some friends the past year or so. Have to say, it's great fun multiplayer, and the direct control feature which allows you to aim and shoot with any unit, combined with being able to zoom right down in amongst the action, makes it pretty absorbing. There's a lot of micromanagement in the game- if you want to utilise it, you can still win without it though if your positioning and tactics are strong enough. That's the great thing about men of war, its flexible enough to accomodate players with differing skill levels, but allows more advanced players to do more advanced things, if they so wish. The single player campaign is tough, if you have the patience though it is very rewarding, and again, good fun. My main criticism would be as has been mentioned, the voice acting. Its so bad to the point of being amusing. For me though it's not a major gripe as I simply don't listen to it.

ARMA 2 a great game why so underrated?

Most media these days is designed for the Quick Fix, as SAS recon said, patience is in short supply these days, it's all about fast amusement and fast money. Arma is different. I spent years trying all sorts of games till I found this- clearly a piece of software built by passion- (if it was money they wanted they could have adapted it easily enough to make a CoD type game),it's what I'd been looking for all along. Now I have no interest in 'games'.
  4. Not really, no. Mostly I dream about womens bottoms. Having said that I did have one dream once where I was on patrol in a northern Chernarussian village when I came across this small farmhouse. As the door was open I thought I'd take a look inside, and would you believe it, there was this beautiful girl spreadeagled across... Ach, sorry.

Stop going in the damn water !!!

Yes, I was playing a mission the other day and decided to flank the target by going around it along the beach. Shortly afterwards whilst nearing the target I realised that two of my AI team had decided to stay behind and squat down in 2 feet of water and refused to obey orders. So I shot them for insubordination. Perhaps if somebody came up with an 'ice cream eating' script this would have some humour value.

    I must say

Its so true to life this game- if you wait around for a woman in this world you'll likely end up in trouble.

    Way to equip airplanes

Mandobles Mando Missile addon has a rearming system which allows you to choose different weapon configurations and loadouts, may be what you're looking for.

    mission editior

Charlie Team, I was in your shoes about 6 months ago, I know absolutely nothing about programming/code etc.. and like you found the editor quite daunting. However, after spending a bit of time reading on these forums and consulting guides such as those Jezaa recommends, I can honeslty say that now I feel as though I am getting to grips with it. Once you get the basic principles into your head it is like a light coming on, and as was mentioned, each new piece of knowledge you pick up will lead you to other breakthroughs. Before you know it you're setting stuff up in the editor that would of been impossible a few short weeks previous. There's no question, you will need to do some studying, but I can guarantee you that the rewards will come much sooner than you may now believe. If you need some pointers from a fellow noob feel free to pm me.

    How old are Arma2 Players?

Wow that's impressive ChiefRedCloud! I'm 44 and you make me feel like one of the youngsters on here. Makes me wonder what Arma will be like when I'm your age.....mmm.
  11. For a general all-round mod then it has to be ACE2. I guess it's not for everyone but for sure the majority go for that. Then pick and choose what you like from the others as far as additional units, vehicles and so on are concerned. The link in erict15's last thread is a great resource, it's like walking into a big toyshop where all the stuff is free!

    Community awards

Congratulations to all award winners, nice one. And many thanks to all those modders/ video makers who didn't win- it's all great stuff and gives a lot of pleasure to thousands of people, including me.
  13. There surely has to be enough people on these forums alone to cover most languages, surely it can't be too difficult to find decent voice actors?. With many games it seems the voice acting is the last thing they addressed, like an afterthought -'Ooh better do something about the voices now we've got the rest of it working- go and get the cleaner, he speaks English'.
  14. Best thing to do is spend a few hours with the editor and do plenty of reading on these and other forums and you'll be able to make exactly the kind of mission you're after in 30minutes, or download a handful of missions and try them out, you'll soon pick it up. Everyone has their game configured differently, uses different mods, some use missions, some don't, so you're unlikely to get a definitave answer to your question as it depends on your tastes.
  15. There's a few rumours knocking around that BI are doing a rework of the sounds on the new expansion. I know what you mean though, ACE disables them by default which is my solution for now.
