As much as the gun turret on the AN-12 is a nice touch, It'll be pretty redundant as in R/L. Any ArmA2 fighter will knock it out of the sky at range with a missile.

Nice touch though.

Will you be releasing civil versions of the plane, something like the AN-12 from Lord of War?

Alesh the crew over at ArmA Underground can help you with that. They are making a BEAUTIFUL AC-130. They did the model from scratch and created the weapons separately, then stuck em on using attachto. (I think, You can't sue me if I'm wrong!)

Sorry guys, but IMHO the attachto command is NOT a serious solution for a serious addon like the An12.

It has problems with fast moving objects ....... like planes.

I definitely should be spending time working on rigs for voro but i just got so addicted to retopology :(

at least it's done now! Looks alright in game and it's all ready for when the rigging stuff works... Which it damn sure will :cool:

and mick...... your suspiscions were correct. And if you're reading this, install max, retopology is like... really really sick and theres a free max script that helps with it

I DEEPLY Apologize. I just found out the the ArmA Underground guys did not make the model. They used the ArmA 2 C-130 mlod as the "base" for it.

I decided to start over, I had looked back and saw things that I wasn't happy with that I did due to inexperience. The dark areas are places that I have redone from the original freeware model.

I have point and face count down to just under 14k, still have 80% of the thing to optimize/ finish left.

Done:

  • Cockpit fleshed out, made more accurate to the movie.
  • Leading edge is redone, along with the light housing.
  • Nose and antenna completely redone, canon heavily optimized.

In progress:

  • Making cargo bay to spec.

To do:

  • Redo intake.
  • Redo landing gear, not even close to the movie. :/
  • A bunch of other stuff I haven't thought of yet.

I can't wait to finish this bad boy. :yay:

I've heard it's pretty good, but $100 and from a developer small enough for me to feel guilty about pirating it... If i ever wanna try it out i'll probably just buy straight off the bat, like i did with crazybump.

But, for now max_retopo is working for me

Probably a pretty boring video... but I finally figured out drawLine and the other draw commands for maps... Here is a video to show off some very very early work on a FBCB2 type interface for battle management.

Video shows complex raster graphic map overlays (the target thing). These are basically images you can draw in photoshop and place into the game as map overlays (you will be able to toggle multiple overlays on and off). Also plan to incorporate the ability to load map marker built overlays from the editor. :)

Also show is force path tracking, this tracks where units have been.

Eventually there will be a whole suite of features for managing large multiplayer and hopefully single player missions (think of it as high command, but on steroids).

Also, this is all independent of your map, so it keeps that nice and clean. :)

It looks quite nice. I really like the way the shaders work with the folds.

One critique I can give is that the folds do not seem (at least from those shots) to keep a consistent shirt circumference. The shirt especially seems ill tailored, seeming increasing quite a bit in size around the mid section. Folds in cloth tend to form at tension points, and flow like water out from those points. I especially wouldn't expect to see such aggressive folding at the rear of the pants below the character's seat.

This is a very good rendering of drapery, I think. Notice where he puts the folds and the character he gives them.

If I'm reading the model correctly, the clothes seem to be baggy and stiff, kind of like rugged work clothing. Guile's clothing looks more flimsy.

This is another good model for folds. It gives a lot of different situations where the cloth is tight vs. loose, being compressed vs. being stretched.

Finally, I couldn't find any pics of Dickies (work pants) tucked into boots, but here are a couple of images showing less extreme folding, typical of images I found on the net. I couldn't find any pics of stiff shirts that are a baggy as the one you're portraying.

Its a old combat uniform design you can't see much body outlines in them:

This is me being the model and while I am no where near as muscular as that bodybuilder guy I am thin. The shirt is a size small-long and the pants Medium-regular. I tucked in the shirt and then hold my arms above my head and this is the fit you get.

I think his model looks pretty realistic.

i totally understand your crit but a. its baked and i dont rly want to go back and retopo again, and b. im trying to make a 26 de julio guerrilla, they wore their fatigues very loose in the tropical climate. the pics we see shows they seem to try to get as much aereation as possible. i might not have conveyed the look as well as i hoped. the detailed feedback is appreciated though and ill pay extra attention in future sculpts

The folds look nice and it renders very well but the placement of the folds and the overall shape of the thing isn't that great.

I wasn't suggesting that he should make the character look like Guile. Notice the folds in your uniform are at the tension and compression points in the fabric. I wonder if you would have the massive folding under your buttox that were present on the model.

I wasn't talking about the looseness of the clothing but the placement and sizes of the folds.

The folds you have do flow very nicely. Everyone has room to grow as an artist.
