CRCTI Warfare ( cti ) MP

We currently encounter a lot of join bugs as well as mass CTDs

- often when joining the server the all you an see is the map. And you cant exit it, stuck on it.

- at startup we often encounter CTDs of about 10% of the people. No error message.

- regularily stacks of people have CTDs at the same time without error messages.This happens quite often and its obvious its not a single player problem because several people lose connection

- there are a lot of "mega lags" when the server becomes totally stuck and then continues with a timewarp.

- sometimes you are stuck at the "initializing CRCTI" screen... it just doesn't go away

I think making your map STABLE should have top priority over savegame issues. who wants to save a 12vs12 map anyway? Its CTI. Not a coopmap.

Hey, if you decide not allow us to change the mission, could you please make a small explanation of what you did change? I really want some base building, coop defense mission with a smaller group of players that can build, recruit etc like in warfare. Maybe even on a smaller map then Utes. If someone got the same idea pm me. Maybe we can work something out!

yes anyone can change this mission, just make sure you change the name first...eg crcti_Spkka.pbo

@Alienfreak: what version are you playing?

Its version .07

We tested it on 2 different Servers (both of the XR CTI Servers, they are 2 physically different ones, even in other countries).

Today we tried to play about 3 rounds an every round crashed the server after about 40 mins.

Hello,

first i must say that we love this mission. We played several times huge battles with 24 or 36 peoples. Its really fun and for many of our members the reason to buy ArmA2.

But we from FHW have the same issues with Version 07. Also the Mission continuously drops the server FPS from beginning around 50fps to 8-10FPS.

The server hardware is not so bad:

Q9450 4x2666MHz

4GB RAM

100Mbit

and the CPU load never more then 50-80%. With 36 human players around 50%.

We tried then also the orginal 12vs12 Version but its not much more better with the performance.

I dont know if this is an problem from the mission or more from ArmA2 MP netcode.

good to see that we are not alone with the problems. First i was thinking its an problem with our server.

i think that the focus for new version must be on performance improvements. Maybe decrease the number of allowed AI soldiers to 5-6 ?

Maybe that are problems from the portation?

Hey 1 more question about the map. Is it possible to edit it in the editor? After extracting and packing the pbo the edit button disappeared i think.

If what I ask has already been answered please just paste or redirect me cos I don't want to read through 11 pages.

I would like to know if warfare can be setup so the I can place specific player squads with restricted load outs. e.g a grenadier gets to choose rifles with ugl and not sniper rifles.

Also that the players don't get money.

I'm looking to use this for realistic squad tactical combat so unlimited choice and money is not useful.

Also how to confugure to play against the AI and to disanle AI squads or limit their number per side?

Hi, im Gröbel from FHW.

As Desiderius said, we have the same problems with v0.7... We reworked XR 18/18 Version to more flags (actual 24 fighting areas). There are no performance differences between XR and FHW 18 Player version. V0.7 made by sqeeze has a lot of bugs, main problem is the player slot bug or commander slot bug.

So we decided to make a new version based on v0.6. Its more stable (i think best version actual). We will use the 12/12 Player version and set new warzones that 2 airports/ airfields are fightable.

Think we all have to wait till squeeze will release a new, more stable, version.

What we find out too is that custom files and mods will increase the size of arma2 error log a lot. Without addons/ mods or custom files the error log is really small... some megabyte only. With addons/ mods or custom files it reaches the gb area.

I think that this is a arma2 netcode problem. For that, i think - and hope - we have to wait for 1 or 2 more patches from bohemia.

For sure, nearly everything is possible in Arma2. The question is if someone will create what you asking for. 2nd question is if someone will play your version of warfare.

And thats the problem.

As you can see, only less player want to play veteran mode. If we set our server to easier than veteran, the server is allways full of players. If we set it to veteran and hard ai, it takes a lot of time till its full.

So i think your version wont have a real chance because you`ll find only less players who want to play. So its not worth to make such version of warfare.

@ SPKKA: You can edit each version of warfare in editor.

What you have to do is: Extract the file (with pboview) to a directory which has the same name as your warfare version. Then put the directory to "your files/ArmA 2 Other Profiles/ your Profile/ MPMissions. Now you can edit it.

mt79er: I did that, I have the folder from warfare in my mpmission folder. Anyways I made something with the editor before and I checked that pbo. Only the mission.sqm is there and after i extracted and packed it again I cannot edit it in the editor anymore?

Actualy it's for a clan I'm in.

We need something better than domination as it's getting to the point it's not dynamic and it's a slog when all the AI aim't at us.

I believe warfare has the potential to give us more tactical game play and ppl mostly hate the money system and the large choice of weapons (it's too tempting).

Also large groups of AI support on either side, it's ok for AA and base defence but we a light infantry clan. So want a changing situation and human players too, plus the AI might just give us a fight.

Hello. My ArmA 2 crashes when I join servers with this mission. It can happen after the loading process, when I already hear people speaking in server's voice chat before weapon selection, or after a minute or two after playing. Other missions of ArmA 2 don't crash my game, so the reason is ArmA and this mission. Why does this happen?

P.S. My game is original (licenced version, not warez) Akella's DVD (russian publisher) plus latest patch. Any (!!!) other missions are playable smootly, hours by hours, but warfare crashes my game.... =(

Check your rpt file and see what could be causing it to crash.

Figured they go into documents and settings/user/arma2/mpmissions instead of the valve folder where it saves them when clicking extract to multiplayer missions in the editor.

Its normal that only the mission.sqm is in folder. You have extracted the original pbo file? Then copy all other files, except the mission.sqm, in your missionfolder and it works.

I'fe been playing Warfare all evening yesterday, without significant problems.

I was only missing the mouse option to buy new weapons (at Barracs), other players were able to buy new equipment, but i ended up with a squad SVD players..... (only way :D)

Yes i got it all working. I succesfully added all other models to build as base defense. There are quite a lot of things to build right now. Some models don't show up when i try to place them yet though. Also adding more weapons to buy and such.

Check your rpt file and see what could be causing it to crash.

Excuse me, but where is it located? Haven't found any *.rpt files in ArmA2's directory.

Is it possible to turn "team swapping" on? So that it's possible to have all players on the Bluefor or Opfor side.
