But what version is this? If it's US then I'm buying now. If its German or any other then, I'm not sure if I want to be stuck trying to get a language patch or such for it, unless there's one already available for it.

notice I edited this

Ok, I found out it will be 505 , which is what I have of ArmA1 , no problems there. Is there a language patch for this or is it in English at all? What would be the difference with US version, Got Game?

i ordered from cdwow too, 12th of June and they only dispatched it on the 3rd of July. Its a 505 UK Version, so its completely in english and completely no different the to the US Got Game Version

CDWoW has a DvD Regions link,

http://www.cdwow.us/DVD/DVDRegionInfo

I'm hoping their 10 day delay was due to waiting to press the 1.02 version, but if not, I'm ok with which ever I recieve.

why doesn't BIS just put a short Press Release here telling us what happened so we don't freak out by NOT knowing ?

is THAT too much work ?

I am very confused about this.

Maybe BIS just isn't up for this type of big release?

Sad day.

All of the versions released since June 19th offer English (depending on where you order it, you may have to specify English but if you do that then there is no language patching involved).

The difference between the 505 box and the GotGame box will be the little logo on the corner of the box (and the fact that the 505 version will have been out for a month by the time GoGame ships it's first copy).

The difference between the box and the d/l versions are that the box comes with anti-pirate software built in (SecureRom I think). The d/l versions do not (instead they simply limit the number of installs per key).

*Steam is another story all together, but there are pages of threads explaining Steam.

Absolutely untrue--preorders were merely cancelled by Gamestop, most likely because of problems getting a contract and even more likely because of the horrible publisher, Got Game Entertainment.

Another awful thing about Steam. Add that to the nightmare of patching and modding the Steam version, as well as the fact that you never know when the application will choose to be stable. There is no way I'll download it.

Steam is stable unless you have a rig with hardware thats more than 6 years old, and there's no issues with using mods with the steam copy. Where are you people getting this idea that there is?

Also last i checked there's no installation limit on games with steam.

That's why I said that "Steam is another story all together..."

Nexway, Direct2Drive, and other d/l portals do limit the number of installs per key (as I said, this is instead of the anti-pirate software found in other distributions).

Understood, I was just correcting Armoredfury in his comment which was suggesting that there was a limit to the installs on Steam.

All good.

I figure in the end, as long as you're playing it really doesn't matter where you got it.

I was just reporting a previous experience me and my friend had with GTA IV and Call of Duty 4 through Steam... he went through several installs and when he finally got a new computer Steam would not allow him to install the games anymore

Strange.

I've used steam to install the same game on multiple computers so I could play my game in different locations.

I went into an EBGames in Providence RI today and they didn't have any idea what the hell I was talking about when I asked for ArmA 2. It wasn't in their computer system at all and the guys weren't familiar with it in the first place. Only later did I realize the date was pushed back for in-story copies.

So, I'm downloading it via Steam although I would prefer to wait for a boxed copy. A friend of mine bought it yesterday and I can't wait two more weeks to play.

I went to Gamestop today and it was deleted from their computer, they didn't have a new release date and told me "it probably got canceled or they're waiting to see how well it does in Europe."

Kinda stupid that stores are doing this. BIS should of picked atari or another publisher in the first place..they are going to lose sales..

Not sure about COD4, but Steam no longer carries GTA IV, maybe that's why.

Something doesn't sound right about your friends account of what happened. Did he even try to contact steam customer support regarding the issue? Any and all games purchased through Steam are forever tied to his account, not the pc. I have gone through 3 different pc's with Steam, all games since then are still available. Were there any other games he had on Steam that he could not install?

Also Amuro, GTA IV is still available on Steam, at least according to both their main store site.

Anywho, to be on topic, what the hell is the deal with Go Games? Where they unable to produce enough discs? Did they get cold feet?

Alright, thanks.

Aside from Walmart/BestBuy/Target, I'm primarily looking on Newegg.com. The only problem is that they had Arma II set for 6/31, but it's still not available.

Got Game was simply contracted *very* late. The announcement went out June 22nd. Figure time to green-light all the retailers, order product from the manufacturer, secure product from the manufactuer (think "shipping container on a boat from China", here), then do the actual distribution. It's a pretty large scale task. Logistically, there was no WAY they could have had product on the shelves in just a few days.

This stuff can take months even for an established distributor (if they knock it out in "weeks" I'll still be impressed....the product will be late, but it will still be quite a feat).

The delay in annoucing a US distributor was why I just purchased the d/l. I knew there was no way they were going to be even close to the previously announced release date for the US (which was announced long before Got Game ever came onboard).

It's a shame BIS didn't have that duck lined up further back up the road. But you can't really fault Got Game (yet)....they were invited to the show pretty late.

In the U.S. no stores have heard of the game and some have told me "we don't have a contract to carry it."
