ArmA II release date discussion thread

505 Games just put a release date on their ArmA II official page :

Don't know if that only depends of them.. 26th June

Is this only the editor that choose or BIS approved too ? (i suppose yes)

And the release date is back.

The release date changed to 19th June 2009 on the 505 games website.

For Czech it's the 17 and germany should be 31 may or something like that.

It is totally weird. Who sets the release date? BIS or 505???

I happen to follow the IL2:BirdsOfPrey on 360 game and in THAT case the devs seem to be ready but it is the publisher who holds back the release date. Overthere (forum) it seems the publisher decides the release date.

Anyway, i'm curious to see the respons of BIS (and on http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/958/958402.html 30-9 360 version for that matter)

max, see my other post on xbox concerns. Don't trust IGN. They also show the same thing for PS3, and we know it's 99.99% sure not coming to the PS3.

Well, a release date set only 2,5 month in the future sounds pretty solid to me. What's the gold-shelve time? 3-4 weeks? So what unforseen thing could happen in the 6 weeks from 'set release date' to 'gold'?

Surely 505 has decided on that date together with BIS.

I guess BIS is finishtouching Arma2/PC and prepping for gold. Nice for you pc folks outthere.

Well, the arma demo came afther the release, not sure about the ofp demo though, if that came before or afther the release.

I'm pretty sure we'd get a demo, but it might get out afther the release

See I don't get that - why would developers be so evil to release a demo AFTER!? ^^ You want to try before you buy... Ofc I Pre-ordered arma 2 long ago will buy it no matter what but in general >_>

OFP Demo came before the OFP release, though the 1.0 Version featured many differences regarding the demo.:cool:

I might be a minority here, but I hope BI doesn't have a deadline or pressure to get this done. The more time they have with the game, the better it will be. Right now there are plenty of games that keep me entertained quite happily. Empire Total War, Blackshark, ArmA, Free Falcon 5, etc..

As far as release dates go, publishers, retailers, and wizards can predict anything they want but I won't believe a word of it until I hear GOLD from the devs.

And Summer period is not really good to release a game. A lot of people are in hollidays:)

it came out in the states in may of the following year
