Shadow NX 1 Posted March 11, 2008 Well if you look at pics from excercises of the Era like Reforger you can find quite a few pictures where crews have the Greasegun. But at the end i dont care much as both seems correct. And once they bail out they are toast anyway
The_Captain 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Though crews could have either IRL, I vote for the XM-177 for magazine compatibility and general usefulness in combat. I think regulars (non reservists) were more likely to have an XM-177, but I could be wrong. (speaking of tank reservists... man, I'd love an M60A1...) Great stuff, guys! Thunderbird 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Both weapons will be included in any case as they are both available and fit well with the era, and there would be 2 US Armored crews, 1 with the Greasegun (MBTs) and another one with the XM-177 (APCs), therefore, both will be used. :] Regards, TB
19KiLo 0 Posted March 11, 2008 Being a tanker from the mid-late 80s in Germany, I can say with some authority that it depends on the tank. While using the M60a3 tank, the greasegun was standard equipment (one issued per tank). The M1 series brought forth the M16A2 for us (also one issued per tank, stowed in the loader's station). The personal weapon of the U.S. tanker of that era was either the 1911a1 .45 or the Beretta 9mm, carried in a shoulder/chest holster. -KiLo
Thunderbird 0 Posted March 12, 2008 The Greasegun, finished product. Once again, vilas proved his skills by another quick but effective modeling. Regards, TB

xav 0 Posted March 13, 2008 You are gonna make all these nations for the soviet block side, and only US for NATO? No Western Germany, France, UK?
Danickas 0 Posted March 13, 2008 They are making only poland and soviet union for east block.
Thunderbird 0 Posted March 13, 2008 The MOD is at the moment based on Soviet, Polish and US Forces, but we envisage to increasingly include further armies within the near future (West/East German Troops...). Of course, this will depend on some factors. Regards, TB
fingolfin 1972 Posted March 13, 2008 Regarding the weapons, have you thought about a XM-177 or XM-733 with grenadelauncher for the US special forces? I don't know if the XM148 was still in use in 1985 or if the M203 can be combined with XM-177.

BraTTy 0 Posted March 14, 2008 I am interested in this Era and I have some comments and questions. I was actually in the military in 1985 and I didn't see any action nor get offered any ( I was only National Guard anyways, a part of the US Army) I always felt it was almost a war but would have been a button war (nukes) My impression of the Cold War was just a bunch of spying and few incidents could be labeled as accidents. Also I believe that soldiers in the military are told little as it would also hinder your performance You know often you are told "load up in this chopper we are going on routine maneuvers" then they bring you within a warzone I see you making some nice stuff,Was there tank wars and such? Did other countries have action? Sorry as a teen then and I haven't researched much history about this era. I was thinking more like subs, spy planes, espionage etc... For the Cold War Era You making some subs?

For the Cold War Era You making some subs? I think its more like "what if scenario" in this mod, just like in OFP. And about action, there was... NSX 8 Posted March 14, 2008 2 BraTTy Big requests mean big efforts. We're making Tom Clancy's "Red Storm rising" like scenario, not a DEFCON-1 sim. If you're such a historian and like to delve into every detail - maybe you can help us? Oh, I gotta love people coming with their advices telling - "I want this!" and "I'd like to see that!". We're making standart vehicles of that era. If you'd like to simulate nuclear explosion you may do it via scripts without any addon. Cause you won't see a sub as a simple Army man - you'll just see a simple blinding flash. "And if you saw a flash - it's already too late"© Ka-boom. You're dead - load your last save. Benoist 0 Posted March 14, 2008 What? Duck and cover man! It always worked. About gameplay: The tanks will have the same sistem in default ArmA or something like NWD_Tanks? The damage for the infantrymen will be the same? Or it's going to be like the SLX mod?
Thunderbird 0 Posted March 15, 2008 Quote[/b] ]The tanks will have the same sistem in default ArmA or something like NWD_Tanks? Sorry, I actually can't answer whether NWD tanks system will be implemented or not as this will depend on several factors: [*] Tanks Modeling Development. [*] Decision about the sort of tanks that will be included to the MOD. [*] Deep research regarding the system to be implemented as this will have to be adapted to 'NWD Tanks system', since it only features M1A1/T-72 systems. [*] Technical research: - Compatibility with the rest of included scripts. - No impact on performance: Friendly CPU. I can ensure that we are interested in NWD projects, as well as similar counterparts in order to make certain that the realism aspect will be considered on solid ground. Quote[/b] ]The damage for the infantrymen will be the same? 'Human damage system' will probably be based on WGL [For OFP] explorations and studies. The 'Damage Effects' are inspired by 'SIX Blood' and 'FFN' outcomes, but they will be based on a light scripting structure for a matter of performance. However, we are open to improve the work in development, by constantly adjusting and adapting it to the community's daily releases. Regards, TB

Thunderbird 0 Posted March 17, 2008 A couple of news from the front: - First, we envisage to implement ECS AI system to the project, alongside with FFN, as we are convinced that a combination of both systems will result to a real progress in terms of AI reactions and interactions, of course with the MODs permission. - Released several new screens on the website (Clickable image).        Thank you for your previous votes, 'set up again a new poll, and would        greatly appreciate to get your opinion as this well help us for the development process.
