Wow! You guys are definitely busy! I've been away from these forums for so long and have come back just in time for Christmas to see these lovely little titbits. Looking forward to the next WIP'ing session and all the rest of the kinky updates you ladies are going to offer...ooh matron!

In the spirit of it all...<span style='font-size:7pt;line-height:100%'>(Warning TWAT Alert! To the tune of that oh so popular carol: Do you hear what I hear?)</span>

...Said the night wind to the little lamb,

"Do you see what I see?

Way up in the sky, little lamb,

Do you see what I see?

A (<s>Future</s>) Lynx, a (<s>Future</s>) Lynx, dancing in the night

With a tail as big as a kite (it's not that big),

With a tail as big as a kite (seriously, it's not that big)..."

<span style='font-size:7pt;line-height:100%'>...weeeee...amazing what you end up writing when you've been drinking sh!t wine...*hic*</span>

Keep up the great work RKSL. Looking forward to the next 23 days even more now!

Hey thanks for getting on some updates. It's nice to see you are back in action.

We never stopped to be honest mate.  It’s just that we’ve been focused on some other projects in recent months.  I’m confident that the kiddies and bull-shitters will have nothing to shit stir about come the new year.

I had a TSR2 for OFP (October 2005) but it would require a huge upgrade to get it in ArmA looking even half decent!

I think you are going to enjoy the next few weeks.  You may not be going mad because there is a Future Lynx in the list, but no screens of it just yet.

"Big Cat Diary" - Puma HC1

After yesterday we thought you'd like to see something... well a bit less grey. So we're going to let one of our Big Cats out of the bag. The Puma HC1 comprises approximately 1/3 of the Royal Air Forces Helicopter lift capability. The type has been in service since 1971 but has always maintained its capability with a constant programme of avionics and engine updates. The 33 aircraft are currently split between 2 squadrons but are deployed around the world in various support and combat roles.

Nice to hear from you and the team.  thumbs-up.gif

Puma looks good. I understand the cockpit textures are still wip so I won't complain about it looking too bright and clean (the adjustment knobs).

I am pleasently surpised to see model nearly finished. Good update.

Maybe some "cloud pattern" on the specular?

Why surprised? I told you a few months(?) back where we were at.

As for your comments – I know what you mean but they really are just WIPs right now. It’s probable that not much may change in the push to public beta. But for the initial release we're more interested in performance and the integration with the cargo system than cosmetics.

Great work Rock as always! I did notice the model screen shots of a "Gainful" system and a "Straight Flush" FCR. I'd love to hear about RKSL's work regarding the "Gainful", the 1S91 (inparticular), the Fire Control Support System (FCSS) and other SAM systems being worked on when/if you get the change. I believe the last time we discussed this, the SAM systems were of a low priority due to the fact that nastly world of reality was affecting your teams efforts which is entirely understandable. I knew you were working on the SA-2, Rapier, and Hawk systems, but didn't know you were working on a SA-6 type system. With the permission of brownmab53, we are attempting to complete a Straight Flush FCR he created. Maybe we could get a few tips from the master? I would like to see it work without missle spamming and being able to pass along targets to various batteries. Also were you ever able to breath life back into that Hard Drive that took a tumble? I seem to recall you had/were working on AN/FPS-115 PAVE PAWS type of radar for OFP a few years back. Any hopes of resurrection and transferring it into ARMA? Forgive me for prying. Best of Luck!

The real world sucks it really does.  The SA6 and other SAM’s  will be part of “WIP Day Part2â€.

With the permission of brownmab53, we are attempting to complete a Straight Flush FCR he created.  Maybe we could get a few tips from the master?  I would like to see it work without missle spamming and being able to pass along targets to various batteries.

The FCSS was developed specifically to stop missile spamming.  We couldn’t find any other solution than to script it. The FCSS will also get an update day of its own, with the Rapier FSC.

I lost about 40% of my stuff, models and research etc in the Great Server Suicide but the SA6 set was not one of the loses.  But all the disks in that array eventually died. I’ve never bought Maxtor since.  They are just cheap crap.

The SSPAR facility was based on RAF Fylingdales in the UK.  It really wasn’t a good model!  I made it as part of a storyline for a campaign that a friend was writing.  But he never finished it so it ended up as part of the RKSL Test island 1’s scenery pack.  I doubt it will be resurrected but it may get remade depending on other projects.

Don’t feel the need to apologise for prying.  This Advent Calendar idea was brought on by some people spreading rumours that we’d disbanded/sold out to BIA/teasing the community/had no progress/were lazy/never finished anything etc, this is your chance to ask whatever you like.

It sad, but we got some much abuse from some people (although the 3 people I know who are definitely attacking us don’t have the balls to say anything to me directly) we decided to lay low and say nothing.  As a result of that these same pathetic people took that as a sign we’d left the community and started with the rumours again.  If we are open and honest about what we’re doing we get criticised.  If we stay quiet we get criticised.  There’s no way to win, I thought, ‘what the hell it’s Christmas, let’s be as transparent as possible and prove the little shit stirrers wrong.’

By the end of the year we hope the dickheads will be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

People are sad and suck. I mean, why the hell do people get so worked up about some free stuff? Jeez, I'd never release anything if the community tried to rape me at every step.

But do release something please! biggrin_o.gif

dec4_lynx_montage600.jpg

Following on from yesterday's Pumas, today we have the Lynx. We designed the AH7 version of this addon as a two player MP aircraft. You can fly it alone but to get the best out of it you need another human in the observer’s seat. The AH7 is meant to be a combat support helicopter and that’s what we’ve tried hard to represent.

Today we have the British “Army†Lynx variants:

<ul>- Lynx AH.7

- Lynx AH.9

Thats ATI cards for you, AA + ATI doesnt seem to work too well in ArmA. My laptop isnt the best for ArmA either

I have an ATI card and AA works fine for me. But i'm just saying for the purpose of the screenshots to turn on the AA, even 2x improves visual quality of jagged edges by miles! I've gotten so spoiled ever since I bought a new rig that I can't even look at arma without a 3km VD and mostly maxed out tounge2.gif.

In any case, good looking stuff! I thought that some of your stuff would land in VBS2, as the attention to detail and accuracy is on simulation standard if you ask me.

As for the manual guidance of missiles I suggest you either have a talk with mando, or the ACE team.

Actually, I just worked out a solution that works with the Arma engine. I just haven’t had chance to update the rest of the team.

Well I’m almost embarrassed to admit that was with Ant aliasing on. It’s on a Tosh A200 with an ATI 2900 mobility chip. Not exactly a gaming machine to begin with. But on a side note I’ve never managed to get AA noticeably working on any ATI car even in my desktops.

My workstation is currently in bits while i swap out the main board so the really pretty stuff will have to wait until its back up and running.

I have a question in regards to the Lynx. Are you going to focus strictly on the British version, or are you open to creating another countries' version as well?

The "Naval" versions will support other Nationalities. The AH series show today are UK specific. No other nation bought AH7 types.
