As I too though something would be there and I looked and looked and then I happened to look at my map and noticed that I should was right in the middle of it then I just happened to look down under the water. nominesine 0 Posted June 15, 2008 I don't know anything about LODs and map making. I do know a bit about artificial light, color settings and contrast/brightness though. I'll stick to what I know in this post. Trees popping in and out of view makes the whole island quite bizarre, as others have mentioned. This feeling is enhanced by the strong contrast between the vegetation (bright green) and the ground below (very dark green). I think that your Island would benefit from thourough paint job. Make the colours blend together more smoothly. Avoid contrasting colors as much as possible. I did enjoy watching the water towers and small huts fall apart, though. The animations are super. I didn't want to sound like a complete asshole and just say something, "I think the grass looks strange.", as that really doesn't help him out much. I just noticed the objects falling apart. I hope this is ok with you but I would just love to use this vegetation on my own island with full credit given of course. I tried extracting and adding it to CA but the plants show up as white in visitor and do not show up at all in game. Still.. Yes, I planned this island to run on low-end PC's too... but now I've re-edited the LODS of the objects. but now there's a little little little problem: THE IMPORT OBJECTS SCRIPT IS BUGGED! NOW THE ISLAND IS COMPLETELY MESSED, ROCKS AND STREETS! ROCKS NOW HAVE BEEN TURNED OF A RANDOM DEGREE! AND STREETS ARE NO MORE THERE! FORTUNATELY, I'VE SAVED THE ISLAND IN WRP, BEFORE RUN THE SCRIPT AND SAVE THE PROJECT: THIS IS THE END OF THE ISLAND, I'll relesase the next version which got more trees and big rock complexes , but barracks are the same. Linker Split 0 Posted June 22, 2008 Ok guys, I'm working on my baby again... unfortunately there's no hope to have new objects in the island, cause the PEW file is messed and no more recoverable. Well, my answer: this new character can AUTOMATICALLY change the colour of his uniform according to the terrain he is on. A sort of dynamic camo. mr burns 133 Posted June 29, 2008 Well since your asking for it: i always wondered if it´s possible to make ghillies or such grass camos sway in the wind the same way like the normal arma grass clutters do - which only occurs with helo downwash to be exact. And if its not too much of a performance hog you could aswell try to bind it to the "wind" that affects smoke in ArmA. Maybe something futuristic like a SCARS spec ops rifle (if any have been made for ArmA or could be ported over from OFP), but if using just BIS weapons, then I would suggest a M4/M203 combo. But also I hope you make a squad and not just one character as soldiers don't normally operate on their own. A full squad with a good amount of equipment would be good. Also instead of a beret, a MICH helmet with the stealth cammo on it would be sweet along with ammo pouches and other gear with the stealth cammo. The Island also by the way is looking great!
