M60A3 NATO camo

Importance:

This is a beta version, and might have trouble. A lot of tests are not done. Especially, the multi play is not tested. tounge2.gif

I think that the thing used at the same time as RACS M60A3 is possible.

I want you to play a little for the time being.

And someone's mirror PLZ huh.gif

Friendly suggestion: you've used the bds_ tag for the armor classname, well done, except it's not registered. Head over to OFPEC and register it smile_o.gif

Secondly, you haven't used your tags for the ammo/weapon classnames, which pretty much nullifies the point of having a tag in the first place. Just place your registered bds_ tag in front of each ammo/weapon classname, and you're good to go. smile_o.gif

Thank you, this beast is looking good. smile_o.gif

Regards,

Wolfrug

Nice.. but i found two ?bugs?

First time i tested the tank i got the message:

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">Warning Message: Cannot load texture bds_m60a3\m60_tlt_co.paa.

The second thing is that the smoke from the exhaust discharge on the right side of the tank. I guess it should be at the rear?!

In one of the LODs the texture for the commander's hatch is missing. This is possibly where the error message Buliwyf mentioned comes from too, since I got the same error when I zoomed out once.

I think the config values could do with a bit of tweaking so that the SABOT rounds aren't as powerful and so it can't stand up to quite as much punishment itself since it's an old tank, but that's just my opinion. I know it's very hard to get a decent balance to gameplay and realism with the armour system we have and it's an age old problem trying to please everyone with the values.

That said, the model and textures look fantastic. I'd been following your progress on this through your blog for a while and was always impressed by the quality of it. It was a welcome surprise to see it released today.

Looks good. What conflicts were these used in in real life? Or are they just fictional?

Well, they are not fictional.

Weren't these the main US battletank in the cold war era ?

The Patton tank was used in Vietnam and up to when the Abrams took its place in the 1980's.

M60 was used in the Golf War I

in Israel Vs Syria and Egypt (The 6 days War)

Even in the Latest months of Vietnam.

and off course it was the main Battle Tank for US during the Cold War Era.

Still nowdays many Armies have M60 in Service.

The most upgraded and Oparational Version is the M60A3 Sabra, by Israel.

Actually it was the Sabra MkII that was the most upgraded version.  It however was never used by Israel but was export only.  I believe Turkey bought some of the Sabras.

The most upgraded version used by the IDF was the Magach 7C.  However it is no longer in service.  All Magach tanks were only stop-gaps until they were replaced by Merkava MBT's.  Today all MBT's used by the IDF are Merkava variants.   However, the Magach 6 and 7 variants did see enormous amounts of combat and definitely were highly reliable tanks in the hands of capable Israeli crews.

Egypt on the other hand, still uses quite a few of the M60A3's, although these are being replaced rapidly by M1A1/A2 MBT's.   Likewise Jordan is upgunning and uparmoring their M60's with their Phoenix series of M60 upgrades.

Hi, this M60A3 looks very good, but the commander's M2HB texture

is too clear in my opinion; some times it looks purely white and is

very noticeable at the distance. Also i think that the camo pattern dirts

could be more defined instead so blured, and some scratches here

and there will make it look much better plus some mud here and

there too. The addon is not signed, and that's bad; while i was

inside of the tank i didn't seen anything strange, but when i putted

it empty on the map to check out "how well" it stands the RPG's

and M136's i gotten this error message:

bds_m60a3_bug.jpg

but everything works ok when i hitten "accept". An uparmoured

version will be very pimp, and also a RACS version will be just

great. Let's C ya

Very cool tank indeed!

The only negative thing that strikes me about it is that its shells seem far too powerful. I had a go at tweaking the config and came up with the following values (which are based on various internet sources)

Quote[/b] ]class CfgMagazines {

class Default; // External class reference

class CA_Magazine : Default {};

class VehicleMagazine : CA_Magazine {};

class US_20R_105mmSABOT : VehicleMagazine {

scope = public;

displayName = "M833 105mm APFSDS";

ammo = "M833_105mm_APFSDS";

count = 20;

initSpeed = 1494;

};

class US_20R_105mmHE : VehicleMagazine {

scope = public;

displayName = "M393A2 105mm HEP";

ammo = "M393A2_105mm_HEP";

count = 20;

initSpeed = 732;

};

class US_20R_105mmHEAT : VehicleMagazine {

scope = public;

displayName = "M456 105mm HEAT";

ammo = "M456_105mm_HEAT";

count = 20;

initSpeed = 1078;

};

};

Quote[/b] ]class CfgAmmo {

class ShellCore; // External class reference

class ShellBase : ShellCore {};

class M833_105mm_APFSDS : ShellBase {

hit = 460;

indirectHit = 0;

indirectHitRange = 0;

typicalSpeed = 1494;

airFriction = -0.0000500;

cost = 1050;

deflecting = 15;

model = "\ca\Weapons\shell";

SIX_tracerEnable = 1;

SIX_tracerColor = "R";

SIX_tracerPer = 1;

SIX_tracerSize = "Big";

SIX_tracerLife = 4;

};

class M393A2_105mm_HEP : ShellBase {

hit = 210;

indirectHit = 30;

indirectHitRange = 10;

typicalspeed = 700;

airFriction = -0.000240;

explosive = 0.8;

cost = 300;

model = "\ca\Weapons\shell";

SIX_tracerEnable = 1;

SIX_tracerColor = "R";

SIX_tracerPer = 1;

SIX_tracerSize = "Big";

SIX_tracerLife = 4;

};

class M456_105mm_HEAT : ShellBase {

hit = 402;

indirectHit = 16;

indirectHitRange = 4;

typicalspeed = 1020;

airFriction = -0.000240;

explosive = 0.8;

cost = 600;

model = "\ca\Weapons\shell";

SIX_tracerEnable = 1;

SIX_tracerColor = "R";

SIX_tracerPer = 1;

SIX_tracerSize = "Big";

SIX_tracerLife = 4;

};

};

With these values the M60 is much more realistic IMHO and not a one shot one kill monster (which it really shouldnt be). It'll still kill a T72 in 2-3 hits (depending on where you strike it) and is a perfect match for the Russian tank (unlike the unfair M1A1 - T72 trade). I've made the tank shells 6th sense tracer compatible as well!

Hope to see these or comparable tweaks in an official release sometime thumbs-up.gif

Hi all smile_o.gif

Thank you for a lot of opinions.

The correction concerning some bugs and ammunitions is made a thing done in a

hurry.

and Exhaust.......

Apparently, I seem to be wrong though I thought that it is a pipe at the

position of side. Back? Will you teach the position of the exhaust that someone is correct?

Excellent work! My only complaint is the balancing as well. T-72 for the most part was on par or surpassed the Patton depending on variant of each.

Hmm instead of the M833 shell I'd use already the M900 which represents the latest APFSDS for the 105 mm M68.

Furthermore the standard loadout of the M60 is 63 shells ... probably 20 APFSDS, 23 HEAT and 20 HEP.

This looks great. The M60 fits the scale of the island battle quite well.
