I reckon i have no clue about Russian hardware, but i believe it could be some electronic warfare device. Something like the longbow radar. I'm not sure tho as on one hand a hardpoint is not the best place to fit such a thing but on the other hand better have one on a hardpoint that none.

WHen the russian choppers are in testing they tend to carry a box full of various sensor equipment to give feedback about various performance aspects of the chopper and to monitor systems

Ok to counter RobertHammer’s complete and total thread hijack here are some screen of the latest EricM and RKSL Hinds.

UPDATE:

If all goes well I am going to pass the final Private BETA build of the Hinds onto Eric tomorrow for approval. If he's happy and doen't want to add anything will release a Public Beta a few days later.  However this will come with several conditions:

This BETA Pack will NOT be "open source" nor is it permitted to edit or modify it in any way.  This is to allow us to validate the beta build and fix any bugs found in our Version during public testing so we can release a fully working Paint kit and Public template version later. We wont support a modified version of the BETA for obvious reasons.

The Beta pack will contain:

- Mi-24D Hind D in Green Camo

- Mi-24D Hind D in Desert Camo

- Mi-24V Hind E in Green Camo

- Mi-24V Hind E in Desert Camo

- Mi-24V Hind E in TigerShark Camo

- Mi-24P Hind F in Desert Camo

The final release and templates should follow fairly quickly depending on what sort of feedback we get.

looks good, but i still don't like how these hinds sits on the ground... hind's back is way lower than it supose to, just fix rear gear.

i don't like wings too, they are a bit longer to me.

@gedis : About the hind's back being lower/higher than it's supposed to and the wings too long/short, I modeled everything from blueprints, it fits all the photos that I found so far and it was the same size as RHS Hind last time i checked (a long time ago to be honest).

note : MI35 has shorter wings though... and this model has dampers which indeed make the tail drop a little, though I think it's a nice feature.

Suicide is not an option.  Walking away from the jibes and dickheads of the public community is a possibility.

@Gedis the scale is correct to all the published info.  If anything the wing span is actually narrower than it should be in reality.

As for it sitting too low.  Its appropriate for a combat loaded Hind.  IE a full weapons load and full fuel load.  Something that most Hinds don't fly with due to the take off weight issues which I’m sure you are aware of.

You have to remeber that the pictures RH is posting every few days are not the same build as Eric and I are showing you.

In a public community there are always those kinds of remarks and ppl. It is just the way it is. Maybe in the BIS' there are more (or they seem that way) because (some)ppl are already frustrated by the game itself....
