CSM Beta v2 quick teaser preview

Recommended Posts

Cool good sounds, I didn't really like the helicopter sounds because they didn't sound like the real deal but oh well, if most of the people like them then its all good.

I can tell the AH-6 sounds is from a Notar, the high pitch whine is the tailboom fan, but screw it, Notars sound cool anyway.

The Cobra sound is from a variant before the Zulu, you can tell the sound is from a 2 bladed variant, probably AH-1W bla bla bla I don't want to make it take you any longer so I'll shutup.

Nah, its all good, the choppers are as close as I will get, I made sure they had at least a percussive sound to them so they'd sound good from afar as well as near or in teh cockpit. I think also, the inside and outside efect will be implemented.

I agree, the heli's wont be to everyones liking, but to some it will, I didt want to leave in too much the whine of the engines because that is not what you'd hear from far away, yet, I wanted to let some of it bleed in, the best of both worlds. Apparently a chap by the name of brentzig dislikes the whole mod all about, he claims none of it is real at all and that I didnt do enough research, its too bad for him, and he has to live 24 hours a day with himself. Nothing will come close to real life but the "idea" and "effect" is the key, but because I know and have a very very close recognition of the sound I have replicated them the closest as possible.

I've wondered about scripted sounds for vehicles. Like having the "far" sound for the helicopter as the default noise, and if the player is within, say, 20m of the chopper, he can hear the engine noise as well, which fades in the closer he gets. It might take some scripting but is it possible?

Excellent sounds Chammy, I await release smile_o.gif

I believe the last release of project reality use this kind of scripted sounds but for weapons, it would be awesome to implement it in arma: far-distants firefights sound different to close firefights.

The sounds are authentic but the guns especially just aren't punchy enough, I know it's because of your sources. But still that's been my problem with your mod from day 1.

I like FDF because the guns are loud.

Yup , personal preferences, plus, could be your volume, and I have to agree FDF are loud, but not "punchy" its hard to get that punchiness the right way, FDF as siad before are too metalicy, unless you throw the bass all the way up also, also depends on your speaker system. And to add, the weapons in that clip arent solidly done just yet, they are most likely will be in the Beta but just a little more cleaned up, the PKM was a test, I left in by mistake.

Well I have no idea what the Russian helicopters sound like irl, but I thought those sounds were fine, so if someone has never heard the real helicopter for the other sounds I doubt they will have anything to complain about. The only one that I felt was really out of place is the AH-1Z sounding like a huey.

Yeah, you can kinda do separate inside/outside sounds but will still hear both. For example, in the cockpit you will hear a turbine sound louder than rotors, in the outside view you will hear rotors louder than the turbine. That and I couldn't figure out how to do it without sounding buggy during startup and shutdown.

Yeah, with helicopters, I guess a person would really have to be super picky, I mean, if its close, which I think with my choppers, it would be fine, I think that further tweaking wuold be a waste of time, though, maybe later I might change if I find a better sample, but so far, I can point out where I got them from and I can honestly say that it was taken from the actually source, it may have sounded different on youtube or any other video but its there. smile_o.gif

Good point, guess that really needs an engine tweak.

Lovely sounds. I already loved your previous release and am still using it, can't wait to use this one.

I have never been in a battlefield (real one at least) but your representation of it sounds to me the most accurate one can have.

Good work notworthy.gif

Personally I think that some sound of vihicles can be good for the prospective loss of reality.

Any way, Sounds are very appealing, and unique. Great update Chammy! Keep On! Wait for your release! smile_o.gif

Nice one mate pistols.gif , Ive been (for myself) merging 4 mods together as i'm a fussy git when it comes to sounds, cant wait to get hold of this.

Is this the same pack being used in the Iraq ambush video for the Iraq War mod?

You will need no other sound pack ever again. tounge2.gif

Nope that's the CSM:Urban SoundMod that Chammy is working on, for specific integration into urban environments(Iraq Modern Warfare) and urban environments in general.

Durg and Cham are working feverishly on CSM Beta Ver2.0 right now. smile_o.gif

What I might end up doing is releasing a sketch, which is damn close to a complete Beta, just some test sounds is all, then releasing the Beta v2, I'm just waiting on Durg, his computer crapped out apparently, so be on the look out this week guys.

Sounds good but don't sweat it. No doubt your sound mod is going to be great. Take your time Chammy. thumbs-up.gifpistols.gifbiggrin_o.gif

Interesting news. So we can expect a pre-beta-CSM-release no later than the 2.3.2008 23:59 hour?

Yeah, another Beta test open to public. Right now I am battling a flu again, respiratory flu, I've been in bed most the day while my kids tore the house up wink_o.gif . Thankfully I have Motrin and Dayquil.

Take care of yourself bud. If that means you gotta shelf the work for a while you wont get any complaining from my end. Hopefully this time that very small, but vocal minority, will back the fuck off and be a little more respectful.
