Overdosed 0 Posted October 30, 2007 OK, i play arma since it came out, now i haven played for like 3, 4 months. I came back today and first reaction when a server list opened was: what the hell? I mean...there are like 30 servers, 20 of them have 2 players on, 9 of them was evolution (which i hate) and one had berserk (i love it) peoples on...4 of them. OMG. I dont like stupid coop upgrading, boring, shooting at AI. I want some man on man, 30 vs. 30 hold action. At the beginning i found this berserk game easily, now there is one with 4 people on? Is this game dead or something? Is it even possible for me to play MP? OMG.

Jack-UK 0 Posted October 30, 2007 The game isnt dead. It just never really took off to be honest. The recent increase in cheating has been stemmed quite a bit by Doolittle's Anti Cheat addon, and its beginning to recover a little. Its absolutely nothing compared to the old OFP days though =(

cross 1 Posted October 31, 2007 IC-ARMA They are having large battles between 2 armies in an organized fashion. ie no matter what clan/squad you belong, you sign in one side, report to your unit and fight against the other army. Battle each Sat at 1800 GMT. Couple of trainings and skirmished during the week. FYI.
deady 0 Posted November 1, 2007 A recent dedicated server update blocked illegal cdkeys, which possibly could account for the drop in players. In addition, there have been some really game ruining hacks released in the past few months that have driven a lot of players into giving up with open server play. Sad, but thats how it's been. Mehmehmeh 0 Posted November 1, 2007 it is a disaster... At this moment I can see 396 servers which have 12555 slots together but only 135 players... Naturally most with boring Evo on.... This is a failure simply.
ModaFlanker 0 Posted November 1, 2007 I agree, the blocking of invalid CD keys and the server anti-cheats are giving the smack down on griefers. The difference between a protected and unprotected server is night and day. Evolution Red/Blue has evolved a lot since the original Evolution. The enemy keeps airlifting soldiers to the city and sending tank reinforcements from the closest city (and restocking the city that sent reinforcements) until the radio station is blown, and it can be very tricky getting in to satchel it. ONLY a satchel can take it down. So I did get to enjoy it compared to my original Evolution experience which was limited... I was playing a coop game called "Domination!". Its very interesting, if you see people playing it you should check it out. It has artillery roles so you can call it in every 6 minutes (Either HE artillery, Smoke Artillery, or Flare Artillery which is great for nighttime). Engineers go about repairing what gets destroyed on the battlefield. There are mobile respawn points (the medic M113's) which can be airlifted by the helicopters. There are secondary missions that get you bonus equipment to be used. Everything does respawn in case noobs trash your stuff... however you do need to go and blow up blackhawks left behind on the battlefield somewhere so they can respawn. [As artillery I'll call in a strike on a left-behind BH to get it to respawn back at base]. If there are ever enough players, an RTS map made by Karillion rocks. It's not coop, its actual PvP but with AI in a supporting role. You raise your own army warcraft/starcraft style. Nothing like having a huge BMP tank force in line formation as you advance in on the enemy, taking towns to advance your frontline. You can airlift trucks behind enemy lines and take a rear city to flank/disrupt the enemy, it can totally swing a map. It'll need the anticheat installed though, I don't think Karrillion's server has done that yet.
Rambo-16AAB 0 Posted November 1, 2007 Well for me, ARMA is completely missing the spot. This game had so much poteential for large PvP games, yet 90% or the remaining players are only interested in CoOp. Player v AI can never replace the difficulty of countering the ramdom actions & desciscions that another human opponant can make.
Overdosed 0 Posted November 2, 2007 Yep...tried it again yesterday a few times and today few times...this game is dead, 100%. Its going off my hard drive. See ya guys maybe in some other games forum. p.s.: bohemia i am very dissapointed, this game had potential. Now its too late.
-Puma- 2 Posted November 2, 2007 if u look at the locked and passworded server u find more players there. This game was never been a mass hit so dont expect to see 10.000+ players playing each night.

Cormega 0 Posted November 2, 2007 it's sad, but it does seem that support for this game from both community and developer is simply non-existant how could they even consider a sequel when the first attempt was a failure? no interest + no support = no community <--- ArmA
Killg0re 0 Posted November 4, 2007 Its hard to get some MP fun, but its there.. For me, i only play on the armaholic server, cause of the anti cheat policy, and the commited guys over there. BUT, those guys arn't always arround, so then you're stuck. For yesterday i played the Domination (2.16 i believe) and it was quite some fun. Although only 4 players average on the server. But in this case, 4 Players was good enough for me to have a great battle.
MAGPIE 0 Posted November 5, 2007 I belive ArmA is still a great game and will always be because of the people who make new addon's etc...I started playing ofp when ofp was out & loved it! I don't play ArmA to often but when there's time I'll jump on a server! but yea the drop in players has stopped me jumping on! I would say the mission makers i.e Evolution was to indepth and in order to jump in those choppers you had to have stat's & time played. Berzerk on the otherhand is a effective game time played. I still think about the times playing battlefield 19** map on ofp...simple C&H with only one chopped each side.... MAGPIE
-Puma- 2 Posted November 10, 2007 i had fun yesterday on evo server with anti-cheat protection. havent pubbed for awhile, but it was fun evo session, with every1 working to get the towns cleared. (well ofcourse sum1 blew up the ammo trucks at base, but besides that no cheaters around)
daikan 1 Posted November 10, 2007 never mind the nay sayers... arma multiplayer still rocks for me. i find good games with 30+ players no problem. could be a euro time zone thing however... all evo red+blue, berzerk, ic-arma have a lot to offer to me. the only sad thing being that karrillion's RTS4 has somewhat lost it's sex appeal due to various script kiddie incursions in the past.. but i'm sure it will have a comeback with 1.09 at least, it's too good to be ignored. mattxr 9 Posted November 10, 2007 You want some man on man action hmm anyways.. Ive seen loads of Berzerk Servers FULL and C%H and DM and all that full so i dont no where you have been looking.
Allie 0 Posted November 10, 2007 The game is dead a bit, i think too. Main reason is the lag of good missions, good islands to have these missions on, good addons, and dedicated players. I play ofp/arma from the beginning and i really mis the days i was in a clan, it was the days of hardcore dedicated CTF playing those days, the really good thing was the ingame voice which gave this extra dimension to MP gaming. The good thing those days was the massive amount of people playing it but more important, they made a shit load of missions, addons and islands for us to pick from. I really dont know but there should be a couple of good clans out there that try to be really dedicated to the game. It is due to the lack of players , most games will be COOP against AI. or on most public servers its just RAMBO madness. Islands, missions, addons, and organizing players is the main thing we need, maybe some nice server browsing tool with some nice addon manager inside But again i'm sure there some good clans out there. Later dudes, Allie
