Dan ick(uk) 0 Posted October 21, 2007 Hi mate, Again THANKS for this amazing map.I was just wondering if maybe you could add some kind of trench style grooves at the sides of the roads coming into the city an maybe some on the edge of the city. i dont mean proper trenches,i just mean ditch sort of things,you know so it can provide half decent cover,i am at my mates at the moment but when i get home tomorrow ill post a pic of what i mean,theres a similar thing on alex sworns gardinaas island. I have tried to do it some places for the very purpose you described, however the terrain grid in ArmA is rather large compared to other games, so getting it right is a bit hard. I could do what I've done some places and just elevate the terrain here and there manually in Buldozer, but this yields poor results as the terrain gets a spike'ish look, also it's very time consuming. If anyone wants a temporarily fix for the dedicated server problem, you can download THIS config, unpbo Sakakah, replace config and repobo. I don't know about compatibility issues with server running new config and clients running old config, so it'd be advisable that all replace it. Many thanks to Sickboy who corrected it for me! jasono 0 Posted October 21, 2007 Thanks for the config update, however it still takes quite a long time to load after a server restart. Server Specs: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ - 2.41GHz 2 Gb RAM. Task Manager shows around 10% CPU Usage and 132,508k of mem usage. Which, is good considering its loading something? Edit - Took pretty much same amount of time as it used to with one person on the server. No other people on at the moment to test more, but it may probably get an out of memory error (even though the results above are fine) when more people connect. Anything over 3-4 crashes on island load. Just checking i've done it right DePBO Sakakah.pbo Find Config.cpp and replace with version posted above PBO The Sakakah Folder. sickboy 13 Posted October 22, 2007 Tested with 3 ppl before, seemed to run fine. Also our crash (before the fix) was at load of the Island, every single time, not depending on player amount. I will do some additional tests to see if I can reproduce crashes as in your case. All of us had the fixed config btw. Not just server. Long load time is pretty usual on server restart though, I mean, Sahrani does load pretty slow aswell after server restart? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
jasono 0 Posted October 22, 2007 It does, but Sakakah Al Jawf is in the 2-3 minute mark, where Sahrani is under a minute. Odd since Sahrani is 200mb bigger. The island loads in about 5 seconds after already being loaded before. I haven't had a crash yet, but we never did with one person loading the map. Once a few of us was connected it decided to do the 'Out Of Memory' error' when loading the first time. You can have about 10 players on, and it's still fine after its loaded the first time.. it's just that very first load that takes a while. Edit - I'm using the exact same pbo as the server (uploaded from my addons folder - file sizes match exactly to nearest byte, so correct one is uploaded). I had the best nightshoot ever just now... 200 vs 100 + armoured group I lost allot of vehicles and soldiers, but the enemy got absolutly pwned hammered and shot to poop. 200 kia and some collateral dammage, Awesome map at night! Please please please do not use QG objects, you will aleniate a large section of the player base. If you can , will you make two versions, one with the QG objects and one without. Please please please. #Errors found, malplaced objects etc. I got an error, something like 1024x1024 etc etc. i didnt get a screenshot #General suggestions. Please dont use QG objects. I will make no compromises what so ever to cater for people just because your mummy is being strict on this years allowance. If in case you do actually have a valid reason (such as not being able to purchase a hardcopy in your local area), well that's regretable, but enough for me to waste unnecessary amounts of time developing two different versions. Mickd 0 Posted October 22, 2007 actually, its really since our whole community will not buy it/cannot buy it. We would have liked to use it for an ic-arma.com campaign in future months. Here 100+ people would be playing it at one time in large PvP battles. We can and do sustain these size of battles. As the configs are based on eachother, at least I guess, and possibly more, this might be a good point to start looking. If I find some more time I will look into it. Then maybe like...if you could set the heigh for that tower on Porto in QG, and just set that ontop of another building. You can call it a mosque lol. Thats only if worst comes to worst tho!
