why the hell they can't use just simple black & white outline visuals ...

should save cost and touch the eye with 'comics' like style

Any word on being able to purchase it via download? Lord knows when or if it will show up on shelves here in the US.

According to the BIS site here, it'll be available on Sprocket on the 8th of October.

Thanks smile_o.gif

That was just the info I was hoping to get.

edit: Why in the heck would they wait so long?

maybe because their publishers have told them too? Possibly harder to shift hard copies that earns them more money, when there's a digital download available at the same time?

Hi,

Just to sum it up a little. If I understand correctly I need this addon in order to play on QG-servers (who would only use the addon for the Island) and nothing else, right? I'm asking because I only play online, never SP. I don't really mind paying 12 euros or so for some extra content but isn't 1 island a bit too little?

P.S. Anybody from Holland already checked which store will be selling?

Wonder what kind of editing guide will be provided with the gold edition of ArmA in English. Mr Murray's only at about 50% done with his translation, I don't know if theres enough time to finish the English version of it before the English gold edition.

*Wonders who will be writing the editing guide*

Well it's not just an island. I think the SP campaigns are considered to be the main part of it.

If the server uses the addon, you'll need it. I'm sure not all servers will use it, and I assume it depends on the mission itself, not the server.

@Maddmatt,

Wouldn't I be downloading the (multiplayer)mission if I join the server just like with any other coopmission-game I join nowadays? Which leaves me with 1 thing: The island. I'm not trying to whine, but I'm only trying to figure out if there is a necessity to purchase if you're an online kinda player.

if you only play MP and you're not going to touch the SP campaigns that come with it, then you'll be essentially buying an island, some merc units and some 4x4's with machine guns mounted.

Hmm,

when and where was ArmA a number 1 hit in the charts?

Well since that's a German cover, isn't it obvious? whistle.gif

Both OFP and ArmA sold very well in Europe. ArmA was no.1 in a few countries as far as I know.

Judging for QueensGambit in 11/2007 of german "Gamestar":

77%.

So the quality of QG is pretty much the same as the quality of Arma.

You can already order it from Dynabyte, but for 19 euros crazy_o.gif

Also check GCshop.

Its like 3 euros cheaper but with the costs of sending it which for one game is 2 euro and the fact it will most probably be sent a few days later than the release date I think atm Dynabyte is your best bet.

Also their pre-irder policy can be interesting, they tend to sent them out a bit to early smile_o.gif

Well, in the german PC Action they gave it 82% and somehow i give more about their judgement.

Gamestar is nice but their ratings seem weird and biased like they always moan about endless sequels but still rate all the EA titles very high.

Gamestar reviewed Queens Gambit and gave it 77%? I don't really get what you're saying.

I would have agreed with you prior testing Arma at their offices in Munich and seeing how much enthusiasm some of them have/had for the game. Petra is an oldtime OFP-maniac and we spent quite some time debating Arma. At no point I had the impression that they are trying to bring down the product. After playtesting Arma at their offices I understood why they were so dissapointed. It was crap at 1.0. Hardly playable and filled with bugs. A rating of 77 % at that time was more a present than a punishment.

Now if they rate QG with 77% aswell, they will have their reasons and I guess we will all see when the product is released.

I don´t expect very much from QG apart from new campaigns and new island.

Fair trade for the price, but still not sufficient until 1.09 patch really fixes some serious stuff in Arma. Else Arma is finally toast. Even for me.
