froggyluv 2136 Posted July 9, 2007 Just had a power lull which fried my 2 gigs of ram  Now I'm using a measly stick of 512mb 533 which has turned my Arma into a slideshow. Did mangage to hear a grenade- it frightened me.  I'll give better feedback tomm with some new RAM- off to rant in the Disappointed thread...

kroky 1 Posted July 9, 2007 First impressions: Very good sounds: M2, DShK, AT4, impact sounds of bullets on metal, wall etc., super sonic crack, echos good sounds: M249, M240, PK, grenade explosions sounds ok: reload sounds (especially the M249, M240 need improvement) definitely need improvement: M4, AK74 Overall the sounds are a little bit to dry (didn't find any other expression) They sound very good from a distance. But should definitely be more agressive or sharp when firing a rifle by the player. Of course they sound very similar to what you can hear on youtube, but this is from a hearing perspective of a camera/microphone, which always is at some distance to the fired weapon. mcnools 62 Posted July 9, 2007 woah, just tried these sounds, and they sound amazing good job chammy, bloody good job!
stingfish74 0 Posted July 9, 2007 agreed, the AK, PK, 249 and 240 need to be considered for rework. some of the sounds in previous demo videos sounded much better. also, something sounds off on the svd, maybe me.
EvEnLeaSe44 0 Posted July 9, 2007 hey guys, Almost forgot about this, just put this in ure mod folder, no unpboing or repboing required, just put this in the same mod folder, this replaces the sound for the .50 cal sniper rifle. HAVE FUN! Download for M82 .50 cal
Matt23 0 Posted July 9, 2007 "Listen, and carfully, when you download, you will have a bunch of WSS files, you will have to copy the weapons.pbo, put it in a mod folder, open it, go to data/sound, replace all sounds, re-pbo."Give more detailed instructions, please. What tools etc... (?) 1) Download MakePBO v1.1 and UnPBO v1.5 2) Download the sound files for the mod. 3) Copy your weapons.pbo (found in ArmA\AddOns\weapons.pbo) into a mod folder, i.e. @ChammySoundMod\addons 4) UnPBO the copied weapons.pbo using UnPBO v1.5 5) Replace all the .wss files in Data\Sound with the ones in Chammy's Mod. 6) RePBO the weapons folder using MakePBO v1.1 7) Add the mod folder name to your ArmA shortcut's target line, i.e. -mod=@ChammySoundMod (Keep in mind, the RePBO process will take a while.) I did that exact process and it gave me an error when i loaded it up. "cannot load texture ca/weapons/data/w_weapon_t.paa" any help?
sakura_chan 9 Posted July 9, 2007 I had this error too. I guess I'll wait for a standalone version.
EvEnLeaSe44 0 Posted July 9, 2007 have you tryed taking you're regular weapons.pbo out of ure addons folder and replacing it with the edited one?
Matt23 0 Posted July 9, 2007 does it have something to do with the properties panel on make pbo? it asks which files to leave or not compress. but the paa option is not marked.
EvEnLeaSe44 0 Posted July 9, 2007 i think it might, idk... mmmm
Matt23 0 Posted July 9, 2007 have you tryed taking you're regular weapons.pbo out of ure addons folder and replacing it with the edited one? wouldint that just defeat the whole purpose and bring it back to stock sounds?
EvEnLeaSe44 0 Posted July 9, 2007 no, cause then you would be sticking the edited weapons.pbo into ure addons folder making the new sounds appear maybe without error, try that, if that isint it then it must be how it repboed it
Matt23 0 Posted July 9, 2007 ok, I see what your saying I misinterpreted it wrong. so run it w/o the @chammysoundmod in the short cut. Because I already have it incorporated into the main add-on folder. EDIT: tried that didn't work. Tell me what to check or not check, this may be the problem. Blanco 0 Posted July 10, 2007 With pboview: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=63919 - Start pboview - press the unpack button (CTRL +u) - locate your weapons.pbo (A weapons folder will be created in the same location) - Browse in the weapons folder until you find the data/sound folder - Unzip the contents (all the .wss files) of chammy's sound mod in that folder. - Press the pack button (CTRL +p) - Locate the weapons folder and press OK (a backup of your original weapons.pbo will be created automatically, named weapons.pbo.bak.) Overwrite that (edited) weapons.pbo with the original. - Done. Simple as that.
CanadianTerror 0 Posted July 10, 2007 I did all that...made mod folder, replaced sounds etc etc Im still getting the default sounds (from the original weapons pbo) This is my fault somehow but its' kooky.
stingfish74 0 Posted July 10, 2007 let's keep this thread for feedback? maybe post instructions for adding the files in the first thread. back to feedback, the sounds also need a little bit more volume.
Mabes 0 Posted July 10, 2007 I get everything unpack and repacked (following the instructions from Thomas Ryan) and I get an error message that says: " No entry: 'bin\config.cpp/CfgWeapons/M4Aim.SelectionFireAnim'. " I've tried it in its own addon folder and replacing the stock (after backing them up of course). It only happens when I put down a soldier that uses an M4 with Aimpoint. If I use the 249 or an AK, it doesn't appear (though my M249 didn't sound any different). Oh and my weapons.pbo (the edited one) is 287MB.
