I think some AA units might be a good idea. I just hate the way its indefensibly, no incoming warning and no counter mesure system.

As for your AA unit issue, have you looked into Mando Missle Scripts? You can add warning indicators and chaffs/flares to air vehicles, among other options. Best thing about it is that its not an Addon, its 100% scripts in the mission itself, thus compatible with vanilla Arma.

How easy would it be to reverse the map so that the US start at Pita and work their way down?

We have 10-15 people constantly playing Evo on our server.  By now everyone knows Pariso, Somato and Cayo inside out and starting from the top would be a completly new challange.

Really enjoying 3.0, still by far the most popular map on our server.

In east edition You will start from PITA.

Also east edition is great! Much better then west...

Okay I am posting this over here. Said it was wrong to post over in troublshooting?..

First all before I get started on my problem Kiljoy. Thanx for the mission. It's good and I enjoy it. Ya did good!...

Now if I can get this bug fixed, that would be better...

I have this bug with evolution recently. I have played evolution before and had no problems. Now for some unknown reason my score or points are not being saved. I go to any EvO server and when I leave and rejoin later on. I have no score or points. I start back all over again...

Anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

Before you say it because of lag of joining the server. Well I have even tried it on my own personal LAN server. Which is 3 feet from me as I type this. I still have the same bug...

So I am at a loss why this is happening?..

winxp sp2

arma USA 1.08 patched

mods "New view" & "Health bar" (it has worked before with these mods)

Did I change or add anything? -> "No"

Other new things installed or programs? -> "No"

Firewall on or off? -> "Tried both On and Off, no relief"

Versions of Evolution?. -> "Evo V.3 & Evo V.3 Ice edit"

@ Oswald, Both Nocd .exe and original .exe have same problem...

Clarify this an original bought game. I own it.

Does Evolution save a file on my PC (client side). In a temp folder some where? Or is the file saved Server side?..

How does it save your score?

How about this idea: Instead of pilots being the only ones allowed to fly helicopters, as I previously suggested, how about making pilots the only ones who get transport points?

I have a small dedicated server up that only me and a few buddies play on. Where in the scripts can I find the ranks so I can change them so we don't have to take a long time to build our way up to 200 points? This way things will be much easier for a small group and my friends won't get mad at me when I have to restart it.  smile_o.gif

The community really wants a Evolution XAM1.3 version with all its fratures, its some hard work i think, are we allowed to edit your map and how axn we do it please?

I've printed an read the readme for version 3.0, but it doesn't give me any control over some of the bits I've seen on other servers; No crosshair/ the bananaphone room (love that!wink_o.gif no 3rd person view etc. How do I get at the options for those?

On a server I was on last night, I accidentally teamkilled a player. For 60 seconds, I was moved to a closed room (in the hotel, I think) with bananaphone playing. Could'nt move, quit, shoot, anything.

Same thing happened to me when I crashed a helicopter on base. Also I was demoted from colonel to private when that happened. yay.gifyay.gifyay.gif

First off, Evolution 3.0 is absolutely great. I cannot heap enough praise on you Kiljoy! You have absolutely made ArmA a favorite amongst my friends, and your hard work on this is truly appreciated.

With that being said, I'm hoping someone can help me with the one thing that is ruining this game for me. I've been all over this board, as well as others, trying to solve this so please don't think I haven't done my homework.

My friends and myself randomly get the Freeze or CTD, sometimes with "Create Index Buffer Failed", sometimes not or other errors as per ArmA.rpt. It can happen an hour into the game or I can set up a private server and it will last for days but then crash all of a sudden. It's driving us nuts! Since we only play with a few people we have to work hard to progress and we have gotten up to 5 cities in and it crashed, multiple times. SOOOOOOOOOOO FRUSTRATING!!!! ....sorry about that....

We all have the same problem so I generally host the server since we have had the most luck with mine.

My specs:

C2d e6600 o/c'd to 3 Ghz (Stock voltage, 96hrs orthos stable never above 51 C on TAT)

EVGA 680i Mobo 97.92 drivers

2 Gigs Geil ram (wonderful by the way)

BFG 8800 GTS (640mb) 158.22 drivers

2 74g raptors

1 250g wd

using onboard sound Realtek R171 drivers(weak but avoids more conflicts)

ArmA v1.08, most settings normal or high, eax and hrdwr accel off, 1280x1024.

List of what tried:

1. lower resolution (made it worse! )

2. global vsync off (nhancer)

3. reformated and increased/decreased page file

4. updated drivers, of course

5. <leftshift> "-FLUSH" (seemed to increase the crash frequency! )

6. Lan through Hamachi in case internet burps (Yes, we all paid for the game)

7. Smashed forehead on keyboard (didn't work, but my wife thinks I'm very strange) banghead.gif

If you have any ideas, or even if you have the same problem, please respond!

Another thought, as a workaround, does anyone know any way to "save state" on the server so that we could maybe pick up where we left off when it does crash? (shows my lack of programming knowledge, I know...)

I'm sorry for bugging people, but I'm desperate because I love this game so much, specifically because of Evolution, and I just can't bring myself to play anymore because we keep losing all the work we've done!

@Benny the Fish Does the server crash or just clients? If its the server can you post the last few lines from the arma_server.RPT after a crash in here so i can take a look?

Are you running the game locally or as a dedicated server?

Theres no simple way to save progress on a server , I think someone worked on a way to save rank tho.

About XAM1.3 i tried to google it but couldent find out what is in the mod. If its new units and weapons then it would need a custom evo made for it.

@thebiggestever make sure you dont have any commas " in your user name or it wont work.

@Sand Flea what would be the point?

@Twiggy159 score requirements for rank are defined in init.sqf rank1=10 ect

@TankbusterSPAFF bannanaphone room is always active and only takes effect when you have a total negative score the other stuff you change in game options when your running the game.

I'm not sure how to answer in that I am essentially hosting and playing from the same instance of ArmA through MP->New->Lan->host=Lan from the menu system while using Hamachi to connect with co-players. We used to set up Lan but hosted by Internet (also me being host) but switched when we had these crashes, and stayed with Hamachi because we seem to have less lag when we do... I suspect that means that the answers are: Locally because I am not using dedicated server software, and I don't have an arma_server.rprt (but that sounds familiar, I may have had one in the past). I do have the arma.rprt file from the most recent crash, in fact I only have this bit because one of the fixes I saw in another post was to delete that folder that the report is in so it re-creates and somehow that's supposed to help. Obviously it didn't.

No my name doesn't have comma or of that sort. In fact i reinstalled the game. I still can't keep my score. Where is the score saved?...

Can anyone provide me with any tips on how to edit/custom Evolution to add the XAM 1.3 weapons (eg Claymores), classes (eg Sniper Ghilies and Spotter) and vehicles (eg Transport chopper).

I normally just unpbo into my missions directory and edit from inside the game, but this is way more complex.

.....maybe I just need to wait for someone that knows what they're doing confused_o.gif

Whenever I leave a city to rearm and I'm playing by myself, The enemy all respawn back at the city when I go back to there! I haven't even cleared Paraiso and I have over 400 infantry kills and 70 vehicle kills!

@thebiggestever The scores are saved on the host server in memory if the mission ends your score is reset. Its only use is if you should have a client crash or maybe want to disconnect for a while and take a break as the mission can last up to 12 hours.

When you reconnect in this instance you will get your rank back.

@Benny the Fish While I have always tried to make evolution compatibil to both a local server and dedicated server but nearly all tests for the last few updates have been done on dedicated servers. Its hard to say whet will happen after extended playing on a local server as you are running it. My advise would be to run a dedicated server in the backround instead and have everyone connect to it including yourself and see how it goes. Normaly the advise is to have a separate computer to run a dedicated server on but with duel core cpus these days half your cpu is doing nothing anyway. Try this link for more info

Yes, it would have to be on the same machine (none of the group has a second computer) so I'll try it and post the results (good or bad) later.

I am thinking it may be to late to request something for Evolution but might as well ask.

In the berzerk maps there is a Weapons UI that appears before you spawn and it remembers what you had chose on your last selection. It would be rather nice to have that script added to Evolution, assuming it is even possible for you to add it.

Unless the server has something wrong?...

I don't get it?..

Very, Very Frustrated here. I have stopped playing arma online. no use for it. Won't save my score and rank...

What, rather than having to go and pick up am M16a4, M136 and 3 rockets, M9 every bloody time you get killed by some sneaky little AI SLAg?

I only play on certain servers that are patched up to 1.08. So what the use of playing? If I can't join them...

I can't make all the squad members downgrade there's to 1.05 and the servers. Just so I can play...

Not really an option there...

Maybe I will just have to wait for the next patch?..
