Armored add-ons

Recommended Posts

I'm making AFV add-ons to ArmA. Currently focusing on SLA vehicles. Consider the BMD-1 update as a first step on an avalanche.

I want your honest opinion are such beasts as T-80 or T-90 over-kills for SLA? Forget about other mods and think about Saharani.

The next step will be RACS. I'm going give them 80's and early 90's U.S. stuff. So that about makes them on level what they have now and what the real world countries have.

I'm sure that U.S. stuff will be more than covered by countless mods and add-ons to come.

The T-80 could be a nice choice, imo. smile_o.gif Isn't a T-80 *Late Model* almost/is as good as an Abrams?

Anyway a M2/M3 Bradley IFV for RACS would be nice though. I really hope the Bradley will be made, when the Tools get released.

no i dont think it would be overkill when you assume that the north is an oil state.

they have the KA-50 so they probably also have access to other russian quality goods.

please.... they have SU34 fighters....

money is likely the least of their problems...

so yeah.... your choice, give them new "state of the art" russian stuff like T80 (maybe not T90 though), BMD3, BMP3, BTR90, Tunguska and so on

and for aircraft... why not give it a couple of older migs too (mig29)

as for RACS, late cold war stuff would be fine...

They don't have the Su-34 - the plane we have in game belongs to the Russian Federation.

I think if you follow the oilstate idea and see that they allready have the T-72 it might be logical that they at least upgrade their elite guard units with the T-90.

This baby would not only fit into the games balancing ( T-90 beeing the russian tank on Abrams level) and the T-80 would not make much sense in such a small place like Sahrani.

Good idea, I think a T80 would suit the SLA perfectly.

I am slowly working on a M730 Chapparal for the RACS, I thought it would be a nice mobile AA for RACS.

I work within a two separate team v team tournaments. One tournament I play US and the other tournament I play SLA. In both tournaments, I think you will all agree that the SLA is lacking in the way of balance. This is why I am very excited by this post. And both ICs of both tournaments should be as well.

My vote for an immediate need in the following order is

1. Tunguska

2. T-90

Any one of these in any order would be helpful but these are the MP team vs team community needs from my perspective.

Thanks so much! I wish you God Speed in creating these. Don't be afraid to ask for testers.

I know several SLA players who will feverishly test these for you. LOL. As they are screaming for balanced vehicle assets.

Frankly anything could be possible, depending on the storyline the Mapmaker is trying to create, for example this area of operations could be a chain of Islands or even a contested large area off the coast of the mainland.  Their economies could be based on oil, or maybe a dictatorship/government that is receiving support or supplemented support from like minded countries or regimes.  Maybe NATO or other like organizations has decided to Loan or lease the equipment.  Unless some super-advance tech (like Lasers or Nukes) is used most anything is possible. I can see where just about every addon created for OFP could be used in some fashion or another.

My money would be on a late model T-64 with reactive armor packages for the SLA's elite tank forces.

I heard a completely new modelled and textured T-64 ( 2-3 variants ) is being made in the Kenji tank construction plant.

T-80s are there too but untextured atm.

Mainly they were made with Germany85 in mind but they will also be released as single addons.

Think i can can something in 1-2 weeks.

answering to that question:

Bradley from OFP released already since month or more

it was released 24 of March

m2a2_2.jpg

this is conversion of BIS M2A2 addon, but with reworked some parts of model and realy high detail wheels , new more poly barrel and few details more

in 2 colour version - orginal OFP and ARMA colors

No offence, but that OFP Bradley stands out like a sore thumb in ArmA. It needs way more optimising to stand a chance of looking decent

Yes (to my point of view). What about some good ol' T-55 ?

Btw is anyone thinking about modelizing some ERA armor for SLA T-72 ?

Would be nice also to have some M-60 tanks for RACS smile_o.gif

M60 and M2 for RACS and Marines.

And T80U(M) and T90S for SLA.

edit: T55/T62 would be cool, same as T72BM, but a modern tank is more needed.

Who0t! Good news! smile_o.gif

T55/T62 would fit to SLA, too (like Marus wrote).

But what i really miss is something like a BTR80 for SLA and a Bradley (M2A2/3) for US/RACS.

Actually i don't really miss a T80/T90 at the moment ... will wait for Germany85/RHS Stuff smile_o.gif

I think these would be cool for SLA:

Tank: T-55AD(Kontakt-1), T-64BV, T-80UM, T-90 with working Shtora smile_o.gif

APC: BTR-80A, BTR-90

IFV: BMP-1, BMP-3, BTR-T

Air defense: 9K330 Tor (SA-15), 2K12 Kub (SA-6), 2S6 Tunguska

Artillery: 2S1 Gvozdika, 2S9 Nona, 2S19 MSTA

Sorry, I'm a bit insatiable smile_o.gif

well if you go here: Wiki military forces you can see that they dont have alot of T-72s or other armored units so maybe more advanced tanks would be a kind of overkill, but still they seem to have been able to aquire 4 expensive Ka-50s banghead.gif

any way my vote goes for:

T55 and/or T64 for SLA

M60 or Lepored-1 would be perfect for RACS

just my 2 cents thumbs-up.gif

T-55AM would be a realistic and interesting addition to the SLA i would think. For the RACs the M60A3 or M48A5 would be a fairly logical choice, seeing as how most of their stuff is U.S leftovers.

I agree this is the most realistic idea.

I was thinking of this for RACS: M60, M730, M667, M551, M113 Ambulance (last one is done)
