Explosion FX

Hey guys,

I'm currently working on a <s>small</s>, easy to use script that "improves" the effect of explosions on air vehicles. You can watch a demo video and download version 1.03 beta at the bottom of this post.

The current version supports all vehicles, although so far only helicopters and planes have FX. Other vehicle profiles will be added in later versions.

I always upload to fileplanet for quick Public availability.. For some reason the upload takes less time + the file can be downloaded the second its uploaded + it processes for stream-ability while people can still download it if they do not want to wait wink_o.gif

Ok, YouTube has now finally finished processing the video...

sadly some of the particles can't be seen due to the compression but it's ok.

really nice smile_o.gif I like many big parts flying away during explosion, it looks like aircraft is really braking apart

is it have to be addon or mission scripted?

It's a script - no addons required.

I've just about finished the first version, so I'll be posting a link shortly.

It works on everything - aircraft, tanks, static objects - even infantry...

But it looks best on aircraft.

nice script...thx.

will you improve the fx asap?

+ heavy smoke before explosion after crashlanding

+ several flying parts could be minor (Trucks, 4x4...)

Sweet!  IMHO, maybe a bit too much stuff flying off the vehicles, and would be nice to see that much flying off when it hits the ground.. If that is possible ;-)

Very nice *satisfying* effect!  Really gives that 'Umph!' to the hit.  thumbs-up.gif

Edit: Now if the addon makers would like to add a wing/wheel/turret flying off when the model gets damaged. The combined effect would be awesome.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

I am currently working on some more features:

- explosion debris on crash

- Possible complete destruction (vehicle is deleted) if destroyed by a heavy explosion

- Different explosion effects for different vehicles (perhaps wheels and stuff flying away like Scrub said, although I would like to keep the script addon-free for universal compatibility)

- burning wreckage causes damage to nearby infantry

- Multiplayer compatibility

I welcome any more suggestions.

Amazing script work, MaddogX! Simply fantastic.

Something I'd like to see is a random chance of the helicopter or plane not always getting 100% destroyed. If it would just hit the ground and not explode, I'd be estatic.

what if you make the falling debry kick up dust like bullets? I think it would look really cool.
