Women civilians

Recommended Posts

First off hello to everyone.

So I've had ArmA for a few weeks now. And I've noticed in the mission editor, that there are only male civ's. What happened to the women? In OFP they had female civilians, and in the profile manager of ArmA, there's even a womens voice option.

At first I thought my install had made a balls up, and using  that LOD bug with V.105 confused_o.gif as an excuse, I renstalled my game.

No change...

Have they been left out for some PC reason, or was there some problem with their part of the game some reason?

So where they at?  whistle.gif

Cheers for any repliys...

They probably would have needed another set of animations and if you played v1.0 then you understand why they didnt add them wink_o.gif

Although that female reporter works more or less ok, except for her hands.. crazy_o.gif

I do miss them though, the civilians in general look weird, its like everyone on that island is on vacation and only men are allowed on the island. Some people in 'normal' clothing would have been nice. tounge2.gif

Didn't someone say it's immoral to have a game with anyone else than adult men on the battlefield?

My copy was V104 out the box so I never played V1.0. and I do agree with you. Some people in 'normal' clothing would have been nice.

Thanks everyone...

No wpmen no toilets no widelife bar baugs and gulls and the occasional hawk.

Of course less accidents on the road is a bonus though.

There are women serving in militaries of many countries. Could be in ArmA too, there is no moral problem.

Civilian women are of course needed too, lots of different sizes and shapes and colours thank you.

We had a similiar topic not a month again asking exactly the same question and get locked. Why we now need to have the same discussion again?

Quote[/b] ]I'll agree that we need male and female civilians in the game as well as kids; the whole game doesn't involve war.

Why you need kids in a wargame simulation? Dead civilian men already are good enough to simulate a war, you definitely don't need killed kids too.

Why not have kids? There were kid hostages in the original Rainbow Six and I didn't lose my mind when they got killed. I turned out to be a very stable person because of it.

As new people join the game they are noting the ultra realism of the AMRA sandbox is missing stuff. No women etc

I agree adding lots of civilians to maps would make the game more realistic and make more adult player suddenly refrain from blowing up towns.

Another aspect is that there is no surrender or POW option. In coop mode generally you kill ALL the enemy to achieve an objective. This is very unrealistic. Generally in current modern combat you kill enough people so the opposing force retreats or surrenders. Adding lot of civilians in towns and then penalising a player for killing them or not protecting them would provide thought provoking and realistic gameplay.

Capturing a town then setting up a POW center and escorting and gaurding troops as well.

Killing POW's or Civilians leads to loss of score, or loss of viechles spawns etc etc.

no game has even attempted this so far, this brings in a level of realism that matches ARMA realistic world. For all the bullet physics HDR etc.

The logistics of war, moral costs are not being simulated at the moment. In fact totally avoided.

On almost all COOP maps all the civilians have left, you kill wounded soldiers etc.

If you want realism these things should be added.

Ideas for Realism Modders:

Show a simulated newspaper headline accusing Civilian loses to all players when someone shots a civilian. The offending size is penalised with spwan timers, ammo loss etc.

Show media headlines of Prisoner abuse if POW is killed after surrender. Again gameplay negatives added for a defined time to offending side.

Offending player placed in prison for defined time as punishment.

Mission involving evacuation of civilian population before aggressors arrive.

Protection of Embasseys vs Civil Mobs.

GRAW, CS, Joint Op's, OP:F, ARMA, BF2 generaly relate to a sliding scale of miliatry realism and gameplay. Graphics in ARMA are photo realistic but we are still playing a Hollywood style gung-ho action game.

To the adult gamer missions of either force providing humanitarian relief and gaurding it vs armed rebels, criminal gangs would also provide great gameplay and be very realistic.

For all the Realism in ARMA, this sorts of ideas are missing and would provide challenge and exciting gameplay for the more adult player.

Yes, there was an exact same discussion a couple of weeks back and it ended up in a flame fest with some people taking the notion of children in a computer war game a little too seriously.

My view is it would be better to have some female civilians added, but first, we could really do with a little bit of a mix on body shape for civilian men as they all look too stocky and square shoulderd.

In Flashpoint all civilian men were quite slim, and even with different clothes they all looked quite different, but In ArmA their all stocky bodybuilders, and its very noticable that their all the same model with different T-shirts.

I know all the soldiers are the same models, but if you get a skinny guy and a broad guy suited up in combats and armour, then they all look the same anyway, but civis shouldn't.

So I say bring back the skinny civis first, then add 2 or 3 women body types, though I don't think it will come from BIS, I think we will only get them from the modders once the tools are out for them.

As for children, they would make missions more realistic, as you don't often find any towns without them in the streets, but some thing there are ethics to consider with having them in a computer game, but I don't see the problem with it.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm not saying we don't need woman in ArmA, I too miss them. But it's not that I can't live without them.

What we definitely don't need are children in the game. Would we have them I almost can guarantee you that by now we at least would have half a dozen of videos on youtube showing them not on the playground and I think we can pass on that "publicity".

Before worrying about putting women or kids in the game I'd rather they got what we have now to walk on the pavements or sides of the roads when there's no pavement. Getting tired of driving around having to dodge the pedestrian walking along the road centrelines....The cars doing that are bad enough but at least they move over as you approach them. Seems like all the civvies on Sahrani have a collective deathwish!!

it think that if Arma is an enhanced version of OFP with better graphics , it is fair that we should have enhaced versions of females civilians like Angelina from OFP, let's say an Angelina...Jolie inlove.gif

People, use your heads!!!! If BIS put wemon in the game then they would have to put in toilets and if they put in toilets that means plumbing (inagine the cost). Not to mention that if they put in toilets we would have to keep putting the seats down. How can you fight a war when you have to worry about putting the seat down?huh.gif

The idea must have been that men can pee standing up... soooo it only makes sense to just put men.

DUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHH............... smile_o.gif

As time goes on and more an more missions and campaigns are made it will be impossible for proper and innovative story telling to reach full potential if there is a lack of the 50% of the human race that exist today not being put into the game (ie women).

Also i would have no problem putting kids into cutscenes and similar story tellings aspects (but i agree it is part of a wider moral issue that needs to be looked at more carefully)

Bootleg
