Is there anybody here running ArmA on a Quad core PC?

Because my Brother has just talked me into ordering a (Quad-Core) Intel CoreT 2 Extreme QX6700, with a GF8800 gtx.

I've seen somehere some people having some issues running ArmA on Dual core PC's, I hope I'm not too future proofing!

i think its not the right time for Quad Processors, as the Quad6700 isnt really Quad yet, its just 2 x Duo 6700 connected, in feb/mar should the real Quad architecture be on the market, till then i would just make sure, that you have a motherboard which is Quad-Ready. Thats at least what i've done, so i bought the normal duo 6700, which isnt even supported by Arma btw. so far i got a

Duo 6700E / MSI 8800GTX / 4 Giga Ram 667Mhz

which is still not enough if not far from an optimal setup for Arma, i think you need at least 2 x OC'ed 8800 GTX and such a real quad core

btw; i'm crashing all the time, just testing now with some old MSI 8800 drivers...

I am about to upgrade my GPU and those are my choices limmited by my income smile_o.gif either GF 7600GS DDR2 512RAM or GF 7600GT DDR3 128RAM what would that be?

Current config:

Asus K8N4-E

AMD64 3000+

Blitz 512RAM

Sapphire X550 128RAM

WD 80GB

And yes I know it needs atleast +512RAM..

Choose the 7600 GT. There's no 128 MB 7600 GT, so something was miswritten. And also, a 7600 GS can't take advantage og 512 MB memory because it is only 128 bit. So 7600 GT is a lot better choice!

the perfect pc for armedassault isn´t made yet...imho... wait til a couple of "new generation" grafx cards hit the table (and come down in price too smile_o.gif ) upgrade then... together with a fast dualcore cpu and generous amounts of ram memory..

don´t upgrade before...that p4 singlecore thing won´t really push armedassault into new heights... neither the 7600 card *sigh*.

at least my 3ghz pentium d coupled with a ati1900gt and 2gb of ram doesn´t really cut it in terms of performance... sad_o.gif

anyway...happy xmas smile_o.gif

EimaReimaHebitaks seriously mate all of them comps will struggle to play this game, all of them have on board video which will probably struggle to run mine sweeper let alone arma. My PC a64 4200 with gig ram and x1900pro gets like 20-30 fps on normal detail, and my second PC a64 3200 with gig ram and 6800gt struggles to be smooth on very low, both res are set to 1024x768.

EimaReimaHebitaks sorry mate but that video card woun't cut it either, though the PC is the best of the bunch you have posted. you are going to need at leat a 7600gt i would guess and that would most probably have to play on low settings to have and enjoyable experience, at least until bis do can come up with a fix or way round the extreme demands this game puts on a machine. confused_o.gif

Must add though that i'm only playing the demo so hopefully by the time I get the full game in feb the game will be running better. I do love the game though its amaizing i'm just dissapointed that i have to set everything so low when i can play everything else on max at higher resalutions.

We already have extremelly powerfull DX10 cards out there ($$$wink_o.gif and peoples reports arent very encouraging, same with dual core CPU's.

OPF didnt really took much advantage of new HW, im afraid this might be the case with Arma too.

If you are going single core go AMD. wink_o.gif

(and please use model designations instead of gigahertzes, those do not mean that much these days)
