ATI Radeon X1300 Shared video memory in MB 256 Are these good for gaming? Get a GeForce 7900GS, or a 7600GT if you cant afford the former. X1300 and 7300LE cards are useless. If you wanted to balance the cost a bit better, downgrade to 1GB and get a really good graphics card with the money you save on RAM. @otester: Looks good to go
otester 0 Posted December 25, 2006 20 quid more for X1950 Pro over the 7900GS. EDIT: Looking at past experiences, I think I'll budget my upgrades to under £500 so I can upgrade more frequently instead of getting an E6600, 2GB and X1950XT etc. for example. Scarlet_Pimp 0 Posted December 26, 2006 EimaReimaHebitaks, those specs are looking more like it mate, get the best video card you can afford, the x1900pro or 7900gs are good budget cards try and get 512 vidoe RAM cos this game likes that, your processor also could be better i would go for a least a 2.2 core 2 duo, but the one on there currently aint that bad. I'll check the framerates later but my initial impression is its one hell of a bang for my buck

You need a better one if you want any chance of running the latest games. The rest of the system is excelent. Are you building it yourself? If so, what sort of case and PSU are you using? Bunks 0 Posted December 27, 2006 Eima, balance is key to this game being playable. With those specs the best choices for vid cards would be:7950gt, 7900gt, 7900gs, x1950pro, x1900xt. Unless you have money to blow. But if you are on a tight budget then the minimum cards would be:7600gt, x1900gt anything less that that would be a waste of your time and money. right now the x1900gt is going for about $140-150 US and the 7600gt for $120-160 US. (if I had to choose the x1900gt is much more bang for the buck)
Warden 0 Posted December 27, 2006 Well my Girlfriend just went out and bought us a new PC without asking me about it sooooo what do you all think. Intel Pentium D820 Processor - 2.8GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2MB Cache - Microsoft Windows XP Media Center ---WTF - 1GB DDR RAM - 200GB Hard Disk Drive - Multi-Format Dual Layer DVD RW Drive - 512MB nVidia GeForce 7300LE Graphics ---Eh! - 8-In-1 Media Card Reader - Vista Premium Upgrade Included --oh Joys - 19" Widescreen TFT Monitor Your response decides wether or not i chastise her for being impulsive, like when she went out and bought the new car without telling me. Sigh.
DaSquade 0 Posted December 27, 2006 Quote[/b] ]ike when she went out and bought the new car without telling me. That must of been a very small or a very old car if i compair your impulsive pc spec. Nah, seriously... Imho if you buy a new pc, it should have a Dual core at least. XP media: no experience, but apperently these day it comes with premade computers (still have more trust in the good old XP pro). Video card: 512mb, guess that can't be to bad. Vista Premium Upgrade Included: no comment. In the end: What was more interested is the price tag of this (i assume) premade system. Just my 0.50€.
Warden 0 Posted December 27, 2006 lol, she got a 1 year old Fiesta. Â 499 plus bits and bobs she got extra, not bad i spose for a pre built , ill just have to take it apart and upgrade parts like the gfx card and soundcard, im hoping the mother board has a PCIe slot, and it looks like it is Dual core. Scarlet_Pimp 0 Posted December 27, 2006 Warden, mate Arma will make that machine cry, on low seriously. However you maybe able to salvage something with a decent video card but still I recon you'll be wanting a new machine in a couple of months If i was you and if the money was there i'd let her keep that for email and internet and build myself a core 2 beast with decent video card or at least try and take that machine back and get something that will last a bit longer. echo1 0 Posted December 27, 2006 Imho if you buy a new pc, it should have a Dual core at least. Last time I checked, the Pentium D820 was dual core.... With the exception of the graphics card, its a good system. Dont be too harsh on her, its almost impossible to get a good graphics card in a brand new PC without spending €1,500+ I should also point out at this stage that there is a dedicated, sticky PC thread for this kind of thing in Offtopic. Warden 0 Posted December 28, 2006 I see the thread but this is a thread about Pcs for Arma not just l337 u83r Pcs and pissing contests. the only things ill be chaging are thr OS, GFX and soundcard at the mo, RAR ill wait a bit for.
otester 0 Posted December 28, 2006 A £500 upgrade should get you a decent: -Processor -Motherboard -Graphics card -Memory That will run ArmA at medium/high settings with little fus.
overkill 0 Posted December 28, 2006 just thought I would chime in with the system I just got. Arma seems to run just fine with it. Every setting is on "Very high" or Normal, blood on low. No stuttering whatsoever when playing the DEMO version. P4 3 ghz Intel MB LT775(?) 800mhz fsb 1 gig ddr2 5300 Xfx Geforece 7900 gt
