Bobcatt666 0 Posted October 8, 2007 most of the good scripter already baile don OFP for ARma, so kinda don't hold your breath, mostly why none of TC gunnners scriptes were placed on the tanks. Got a few hours witht he victers they came out nice. still too early to really mentione anything I need to make sure the issues were not mod created first. but over all rather good so far. Macser_old 0 Posted October 8, 2007 I'm all too aware of the exodus,Bobcatt. But there's still one or two decent coders browsin the OFP end of the forums. The only real reason I'm still messin around with OFP, is because I like it so much. And I'm in no rush to leave it behind.Despite it's age,and many flaws,it's still one of the best games I've ever played. Anyway,if the "hatch gunner" never happens,it's not a big deal. It's just nice to have a bit of variety. As long as it works.
panzergrenadier3 38 Posted October 8, 2007 No! It is not one of the best games!!!! It is the best one!!! And I don't think, that a better one come up the next years. So I'm very happy and grateful because there are still talented OFPler out there, who work on addons for this great game!
Macser_old 0 Posted October 8, 2007 Ok PanzerGrenadier, fair enough. No offence intended. There's life left in OFP yet.And as long as there's a community, even a small one,I'll be stickin around. --------------------------------------------------- And a little more news on the addon. After messin about with textures, modelling and scripts,my config skills got a bit rusty. Having got back into editing the Stryker's Cfg,I saw something I could change, which would definitely improve it.Although you still won't have any optics, The gunner position is now a viable "player" option. I've arranged it to rotate a full 360 degrees. As opposed to the limited range of motion currently available. And it was annoyingly simple too.
Ase290406 0 Posted October 9, 2007 Yeah you got it, I don't see the edges of the floor/wall. Anyways it's not that critical, if you can't find it I'll live with the addon. And anyways keep up the good work! It's definitely has a potential.
Macser_old 0 Posted October 9, 2007 Small update, I'm not too sure how version numbers work. So for the sake of keeping track,I just called it version 1.0. Vix_Stryker_V1.
sanctuary 19 Posted October 9, 2007 Just got some time to test the latest version and i have been amazed by the amount of work that was put in it since the original release of the 1st post of this thread. Superb addon edit : oh i see you have another update , he he you can't stop improving your work I will have to see this one.
Lamentin 0 Posted October 9, 2007 The gunner being able to see all the way around the vehicle is good news. Â Getting the gunner to pop out of the hatch looks like it could be quite a task.
Macser_old 0 Posted October 9, 2007 Hello Gentlemen, @Lamentin Yeah,I guess a completely new version of the model would have to be done, inheriting from the Tank class. Even then it may be problematic. If can get round to it, I might see if it'll work.Sef lav 25s are basically tanks, although they're a bit "light".But they'd be a good reference point. @Sanctuary Thanks for the compliment.Much appreciated. It's definitely been through some changes, although had I more time to devote to it,I would've liked to make it more efficient. It's a bit messy in places. I used some of the original textures,as they were already mapped.I didn't want to do a complete re-work,as it would've taken too long.I thought it better to just get some work out there, while there's a little interest. miles teg 1 Posted October 12, 2007 Well so far I'm quite happy with it. I'm looking forward to making some missions with it on my mod's Southern Iran/Iraq map. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

Macser_old 0 Posted October 19, 2007 Hello Pants, I've just tried the link and it worked fine for me. Maybe it was connection related.Try it again, if it doesn't work,PM me and I'll get a copy to you. How's that?
miles teg 1 Posted October 20, 2007 Bug report- The Slat armored version with the Mk-19 has a muzzle flash bug (constant muzzle flash). Didn't get a chance to test the non-slat armored version. I'm surprised nobody else noticed this bug. This was on the version that I downloaded from ofp.info. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
Macser_old 0 Posted October 20, 2007 Ok,thanks Chris,I'll check that out asap. Sounds like a CfgModels entry might be missing. *edit* Well,I've had a look at the newer version, and it seems to be fine.So try that out,and let me know if the problem persists. The link's on the previous page of this thread. DiFool 0 Posted October 20, 2007 I think the addon is working fine enough. Good work! One thing is disturbing though: The armor value of 500 is much too high. A RPG should disable the vehicle with one shot. As for the more or less RPG-protected slat versions the armor should be higher, so that you need two RPGs to crack it. But when you look at the armor of King Homers M1A2 I have to admid that the armor of the Stryker fits. None the less a very good Addon!
Macser_old 0 Posted October 20, 2007 Hello DiFool, It's hard to balance out armor values, and the effect of the anti-RPG scripts. But I think overall it turned out well. There's no way of creating something that everybody will like universally. So ye do your best to get it as close as you can to the real thing. I've read stories about a Stryker taking up to nine RPG hits and still being able to limp home. While others get taken out in a couple of hits. As it is without the slats, the addon can take about two hits before there's a high chance of it being disabled. And three direct strikes should destroy it.Of course the crew and cargo may suffer severe injury by the second hit. But there's nothing wrong with people adjusting some of the values,to suit their own tastes.Changing any one of them should have a noticable effect. If enough people have a problem with the durability of the addon,I'll gladly try to make the necessary changes. For the moment at least,Im going to leave it as is. Anyway, thank you for the reply, and the feedback. I hope your enjoyment of the vehicle hasn't been ruined. Regards. Macser.
spooky lynx 73 Posted October 21, 2007 Very good work! So, what about some other versions? I suppose RV, ATGM and MGS versions would be quite enough for complete pack.

Yeah, I see the problems with the armor and the hit values. Sometimes a lucky shot kills and sometimes you barely scratch the armor. I have developed my own (more or less) balanced armor and hit values. But it could be boring to destroy a heavy MBT with a single ATGM fired by a light APC. Greetings Difool
miles teg 1 Posted October 22, 2007 Personally I'm fairly satisfied with the armor values now. Slat armor versions can take quite a few hits in real life, although insurgents have gotten smarter and try to hit the rear door area (where even with slat armor, some hits still penetrate) or shoot down from rooftops on the light roof armor of the Stryker. But for the sake of gameplay, I still like that its not impossible to kill. Since you can't simulate top attacks vs. side/front attacks very well in OFP, I think the current armor values is a good compromise. This way determined AI or human players can still take it out with anti-tank rockets. In the missions I'm making for this addon, (against Iranian soldiers), so far the Iranians often destroy at least one out of a four vehicle convoy. They also take a fairly high toll on disembarking infantry if the infantry happen to disembark within range of enemy soldiers or if they disembark because the stupid AI vehicle commanders forces them to. I've learned to haul ass away from the Stryker if being attacked while disembarking. They either tend to explode or have RPG's slam into them which is bad for one's health in the game. lol Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

zulu1 145 Posted October 26, 2007 Well I've finally had a chance to test drive the new version and I have to say I am impressed. Compared to the first incomplete release this has come a long way. It's great that the OFP community can pitch in the contribute to deveolpe a great addon. There are still some problems with the model like if you're outside the vehicle using 3rd person view you get a cut away inside view of the vehicle, something I've seen in the past with some addons. Also in the drivers position in the non-slat version you see slats looking out of the window(viewport). Overall it's looking very good, just needs a few tweaks. Macser_old 0 Posted October 26, 2007 Hello Zuku1, Unfortunately, there's not much I can do about the gunnerview. That was the best compromise without moving to the tank class.Personally I've never experienced the "cutaway" view you're describing. As for the slats being seen when they shouldn't.I was using the "slatted" ICV as a template of sorts. But I forgot to remove the armor from the viewcargo of the normal versions. My bad.And thanks for pointing that out. I'll sort it out as soon as I can. -Snafu- 78 Posted February 21, 2018 Does anyone have the latest version of this addon? The one I grabbed from the ofp.info backup has the muzzle flash bug with the SLAT version of the Mk-19 Stryker :(
hitman1987 69 Posted March 8, 2018 I have one without even a single mk.19 version or driver hatch opens. The gunners problem was solved in original way: the whole cargoview was rotating 360 degrees so the target was visible through the transperent screen. I'll put it here anyway and maybe someday will merge both versions.
