WarGames League v.5 (WGL 5) Full Release

I got the vegetation textures working. It only took me about 7 hours no joke. I had to depbo the /hwtl/data3d.pbo add the new .p3d's then repbo. That pbo-patcher program did nothing.

damn couldn't find some mp servers so ran some of my own that was some fun shit :-) Hopefully some Mp Servers will be up tommorow also gonna try some WGL singleplayer

The default BIS stuff:

Why not incorporate all the enhancements that you made directly into the default BIS units? (ie weapon sites, weapons, models, handgrenade time simulation, smoke effects) all the things you put so much effort into to make the wgl experience absolutely amazing, yet you can't play any default missions with the enhancements without replacing all the units and redoing the mission. Seems almost illogical since you start out with such large base of great missions right from the start. I can only assume either:

a) you didn't want to mess up any of the default BIS missions, therefore just keep it all the same, or

b) To incorporate the effects / enhancements into the default BIS stuff would have required too much time, since the original concept was strictly to have "wgl" units.

Multiplayer:

I rarely play multiplayer since I have limited time or I just play coops with my brother and our own modificiation. That said, I think I'd really like to join up with the wgl guys and play since what you do is right up my alley. So pardon my ignorance on this next question - If I use the improved textures and vegetation replacement packs, does that mean I won't be able to join in a multiplayer game? That would really suck, because I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want to use those packs. Taking it a step further since I really hate the default BIS weapon sites and some of the gun models, I replaced them within the data3d.pbo with the wgl one's (that was in response to some of the first item above, but I still don't get the effects with the BIS units). If I have done that does that also mean I would be labled a cheater as I join an MP game? That would suck, but I guess I could live without those things. I would hope at a minimum that most wgl servers would at least use / require the texture and vegetation packs.

As for the replacement idea I think that would be good to do, but in the mean time you can use a tool to replace the units in the mission with the ones you want without having to do it all yourself. But I forgot what it was called maybe someone else knows.

And about the multiplayer problems, don't worry when you enter the game with motified textures it will display a message saying that you are using them. Just tell them it's the wgl texture replacements if they ask.

Here are a few screens from a 19 JUNE 2006 MP Coop mission on the Zues server.

Our mission was to clear an urban area of hostile forces (infantry and light vehicles).  Unfortunately, I did not get a full list of everyone that was involved, but the short list is:  Edward, Jinef, Hazmatt, B-2-O. Rg, Napy, Where's My Rabbit, and myself.  We took things nice and slow - moving forward only when we thought we sufficently cleared an area.  

In the first pic, the remains of the team (many were dead already) are getting ready for a bounding overwatch across a clearing to the distant buildings.  As medic, I stayed mostly in the rear.  These gents had there business down - they moved and fought as a team.  I believe most of them were on Teamspeak as well - which probably added to their obvious ability to shoot and move so effectively.

The second picture is what can happen when you go up against WGL AI.  They do not kid around at all.  If you give them the slightest chance to kill you, they will.  After the first two members crossed an open area, one was hit and killed within a second or two.  The other member (in the photo), and several others not shown, returned fire and neutralized the enemy.  By this point, I had managed to scavange an enemy weapon (M4 with ACOG) which is why you see that particular scope.

We eventually went on to clear the entire urban area - taking a significant amount of casualties while inflicting massive damage to the enemy.  The entire mission lasted approximately 30-40 minutes.

I highly recommend that you take the time to download WGL 5 and its supporting addons as it is a completely new experience.  It is like a brand new game - that is yours for FREE!  Act now on this limited time offer - not sold in stores!  LOL!

There are MANY missions all ready for your downloading pleasure.  If you look at our WGL Forums, you will see many posts/threads regarding a variety of WGL missions - SP, MP, Coop, CTI, Campaigns, etc.  If you don't see something you want, just let us know and we will find it or make it for you (time permitting).

Below are two additional screens from a 19 JUNE 2006 Zues Server MP Coop mission.

Both screens were taken as the team moved into a hasty defensive position after reaching the first building at the target compound.  We had already engaged a half-dozen or so enemy infantry and light vehicles and were preparing to assault deeper into the compound.  As luck would have it, the enemy quickly responded to our initial attack and had pinned us at this building.  

In the first photo, the members on the right side of the building began engaging heavily with enemy infantry coming out of an adjacent building.  You can see one of the men from the left side of the building shifting to the right to add more firepower in that direction.

In the next photo, you see three members of the team laying suppressive fire on the advancing enemy.

Unlike the Urban Assault mission described above, we were unsuccessful in competing this mission.  The enemy AI is very fast in WGL.  If you assume you can behave like you are playing OFP, you will end up in a virtual bodybag.  

The firefights in WGL are typically longer, more intense, and give players time to use tactics and firepower to overwhelm the enemy.  

Additionally, medics are now much more important during missions.  Unless you are shot in the head or heart, you will probably survive being hit.  As a result, you need the medic to heal you.  In this mission, I once again played the medic and had to "treat" four or five wounded teammates.  There is nothing like an engagement with bullets whizzing by when someone shouts for a MEDIC!  It adds an element of drama to OFP that has not previously exsisted.

Again, I recommend you take the time and energy to download this MOD and see for yourself.  Regardless of your type of play (SP, MP, CTI, Campaign), you will be subjected to a much richer, more rewarding experience.  Nine out of ten Dentists agree that WGL fights cavities!

I LOVE the realism of this mod. I can't wait to find out more subtle things that I haven't noticed yet.

About the Zues Server and pics,

I think that's me with the PKM, hehe. That was a great mission. Do you guys remember what it was called?

The way we moved and cleared the area midway-end of that mission is what I love so much about games like this. I'll definitely stop by again for some good co-op. I had a blast guys, thx.

But to the case: the mission "Road to petrovice, and Medic!!! and the last one (didn't remember name) are they in wgl5, or any of the released mission packs?

I dont think that has the missions etc, just the MOD, the islands and the texture replacement.

I'm talking about the Mi25 and Mi35 on resistance, and Bhrem and a bunch of armor on East.

It's annoying, but the mod is still fantastic. Congratulations on the release.

Because there aren't different models available for every mark of every vehicle represented maybe? wink_o.gif

As was stated, this mod might not be pretty, because that's not what it's about.

Great work guys!, but there seems to be a strange bug?, I placed an aircraft (AH1-TOW) with NONE set in the startup (was fiddling around in the editor), the startup sequence started as usal and when i went over certian speeds the TOW's were disabled, but if i started the AH1 flying, the TOW's were not disabled at certian speeds, and i recieved no damage after exceeding maximum velocity, but if i start the mission with NONE set...everything works fine?.

Great have just been playing about with this very nice work.

Love the effects and units and everything baout it. Shame the original BIS sounds couldnt be replaced that would be very good if it could.

Everything is very good not really noticed any problems.

Just one thing how do i use the USMC radio men, i tried calling CAS support with 2 choppers in the editor and they just flew there no where near where i pressed on map, same with insertion radio signals how do i use them?

if you dl vit's HIND pack youl see that the mi24 and mi35 both look similar only the 35 is narrower i think
