Tripods?

Any one out there in the community ever plan on making/ modeling a tripod from the new version of war of the worlds? That would be the ultimate sci-fi addon besdies the cd's..

Try it yourself, gather some pictures, download O2, grab a tutorial and start making stuff. It's not that hard.

is think its unrealistic to say: get o2 and some tuts and start modelling... it took me years to learn modelling in maya and there are more tuts around than for o2...

i would give the tripods a try, but first i have to pass my exams (2 months to go), after that i need to finished my vodnik and then i can try to model (!!! no texturing -i hate it -and no scripting/animating i hate them too) the tripod.

so wenker get someone to texture, script and animate and we will have a tripod (in two months...)

first of all ass-holes.. you totally mis interpretted me. "She can do it...But will she?" That means talent wise....And yes i know she has alot of stuff to do..i wasnt downing her. If you cant do it dont reply. Stop being arrogent. and no it isnt as easy as looking at a tutorial. I have been using 3ds for years and still struggle a bit. Im sorry to say i can model a tripod, ive tried, i can only do weapons. I can do everything else for a tripod except the modeling and animations. so if any one can model and animate it i can config and texture it. any one down? ( O yea you guys must be so right... I dont havea life...Im in the coast guard... I work 100 times harder than you..

If someone requests an addon that you believe to be "stupid" vote with your feet, don't reply in the thread, the poster will get the message and either request more "sensible" addons or learn to make them him(or her)self, getting into a flamefest over such things is frankly pathetic.

All youve done is pester her continuosly about things shes doing, we have ALL got things to do, and dont even thin of sprouting off "I work in the coast guard so i work 100 time harder than you" wow, I could say im the prime minister and i work 9999999999 times harder than the next person i fail to see the fact in that.

as i said i dont mean to sound harsh but people saying "will you make this for me" or "why not have a petition to get X modder to release their stuff open source" that does my nut in.

Willdo, I'm thinking that asking random people to make their own models would be like asking you to conduct yourself in a civil tone Occasionally, you might get somewhere, but mostly you're just wasting your time.

As far as I know, Neph has her own voice and may type whatever she feels at any given point in time. The topic starter was wanting the AddOn to be made, foremost, and he thought the most likely avenue would be Neph, given her other work. If Neph has a problem with this, she can say, 'yes/no/I don't like your tone, get the hell away from me'. I'm not so sure that she needs you storming in and pounding on your chest like a silverback gorrila, telling everyone what she is and is not willing to do.

Being a 3d artist, I can tell you that this model would be quite a challenging one, and it would require someone of particular skill top complete it in a reasonable amount of time. I don't think that requesting anyone to do it as out of line. I'm not so sure that a beginner's attempt would be very fruitful, given this subject matter.

Maybe, next time, if you feel like something is getting up on your tits, you should button up your collar. I really don't see Neph as a personality so weak that she would be overwhelmed or brought to tears by such a request.

There was a thread about the Martian Fighting machine from Jeff Wayne's music version of War of the Worlds a while ago but I can't find it..

I'm sure someone managed to get a freely available 3dmax model of it into o2 and it looked great but nothing more became of it.

I'd love to see a walking talking martian fighting machine but getting the scripting into it walking would probably be a bit of a nightmare in all honesty. Best of luck anway

IM sure you've all heard of those Wanzer things...... maybe you should check out how they scripted their machines walking.....

BUT IMO

TRIPOds would really kick ass for operation flashpoint, I am really into the Sci-fi crap with a few freinds. We Lan the computers up sometimes and Play OFP Zombie coop campaign and stuff....... Dinosaurs too.

With the creation of horses, tripods can be created on the fly. All you need is just to use the existing cfg commands of

a.) animate =1

b.) class animation{}

c.) class eventhandler - init = (this select 0) exec "vehiclemovescript.sqs"

d.) a script that detects when the speed of vehicle moves > 2: [] exec "animationscript.sqs"

e.) in O2, just give rotation memory points to the main fore and hind legs.

It may not resemble the movement as in the movie, but it will still show a moving tripod. The whole principle to make the legs move = rotation points on the main joint..

All it takes is only 1% inspiration and 99% of trial and errors.

If its too difficult, then just have a look at my PCMechs. If you really desire something, ANYTHING can be done in ofp1. All the best!
