BenceRAP 0 Posted January 1, 2006 Nice, nice. I like these things. Tell you all the truth, I care nothing about OFP addons for 2 weeks. The spirit of Armed Assault grabbed me. I can't want to see it.
Commando84 0 Posted January 1, 2006 these look great   looks almost vbs quality  nice that you are making woodland version too, anychance you can make a winter version so it could be the complet sf pack you will ever need maybe
Bambi 0 Posted January 1, 2006 Oh yeah! Forgot to mention since people keep asking about it, the weapon shown is from Gordy's weapon pack awhile back. It can be found here
GoOB 0 Posted January 1, 2006 Wow! This looks kickass! Keep it up Bambi Oh, by the way. Will you try to apply Sanctuarys facetex "fix" to the face-textures in this release? You can read about it here. Once again, kickass job!
JdB 151 Posted January 1, 2006 Here are two pictures of SEALs in desert tigerstripe;http://img.photobucket.com/albums....web.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums....web.jpg Aren't those vehicles Landrovers? What are Seals doing driving Landrovers? I can understand the need for these kinds of units to use foreign weapons and clothing for mission requirements, but entire vehicles? It is clear that they are coalition troops (troops get shot/blown up all the same in Afghanistan, no matter if they use UK vehicles or US vehicles). So that would mean they prefer the Landrover over their own Humvees... And I would like to see that kind of camo too some day
-HUNTER- 1 Posted January 1, 2006 SF in afghanistan operate in Toyota pickups rather then humvees, probally because a humvee needs ALLOT of fuel!
bugkill 7 Posted January 1, 2006 there is a reason why we do and it's all about the terrain that we operate in, and the low profile that we can keep on certain ops. there is a time to use hummers and then there is a time to use land rovers or toyota pickup trucks. Hell, there aren't any highways at all When mocing through the country a vehicle which is not as wide as the MMWV can be very handy. The Landrover and Toyota trucks were choses for this purpose. The pictures are said to show SEALs early on in the Afghanistan conflict. Desert Tigerstripe is now used by some groups of the Afghan National Army. I'm not sure if it's still used by SF units, but I guess they can wear just about anything on some ops.

ebns72 0 Posted January 1, 2006 looking great! My only gripe is the over-done stitching in the pants. Sure, it looks cool and detailed, but doesn't look very realistic.
Messiah 2 Posted January 1, 2006 perhaps they've just realised what the brits have known for a long time - and 'technically' landrovers are american, seeing as Ford now own Land Rover could make an interesting addition to any SF pack, having a lannie to go with them
456820 0 Posted January 2, 2006 make one of the old Pinkies (Land Rover 110) painted in pink for some bizare reason Looking good though i dont think the trousers are too creased since trousers naturally do that just looking at my jacket sitting down is probaly worse then those trousers so i say keep it as they are plus ive always wanted some trousers which look like them on an OFP addon since im tired of nice and clean straight trousers like theyve just been ironed Good work
LoTekK 0 Posted January 2, 2006 I have to agree about the pants. Right now the way they look like they're creasing, they look more like a really light and flimsy material, rather than the relatively heavyish material fatigues are typically made from. Bit too much contrast on the shadows for the creases, too. Otherwise it's coming along nicely. Be sure not to go overboard with the textures, though. @BenceRAP: While that was borderline entertaining (and that's stretching it... okay, let's be honest, it's pretty loud and obnoxious), what the hell was that and what's it doing in this thread? Placebo 29 Posted January 2, 2006 BenceRAP I delted both of your posts, if you want to find "Llauma's new head addon", search the forums for it, or post in the missing addon thread in the usermission forum. And the flash movie you posted was irrelevant and well exceeded the 100kb hotlinked image rule.
Messiah 2 Posted January 2, 2006 make one of the old Pinkies (Land Rover 110) painted in pink for some bizare reason pink blends in better during lower light levels in the desert (dawn/dusk) when many of the 91 gulf war SAS raids would take place hence why they were painted pink

I'm not sure if it's still used by SF units, but I guess they can wear just about anything on some ops. I know we're going off topic here, so I'll make it quick... Another reason for the varied equipment is that HMMVs don't fit in most of the aircraft that have to move these guys around the country. About the biggest thing you'll get into the helos that are usually used is a Suburban, and that's w/ it's mirrors folded. A buddy of mine who has put plenty of vehicles and men in-country has told me this was always the issue, so the Toyota was the perfect blend of looking normal and ease of "shipment." After a while, though, they started getting shot at, so they switched back to the Hummers, at least in OIF.
-HUNTER- 1 Posted January 2, 2006 They should make a like "uparmored" version of the toyota's. Just some basic protection like civvie cars can get, bullet proof windows, that stuff, offcourse the dude in the back is exposed still... Too bad we dont have any of these ingame, proper ones I mean!! Â Â And also Afghan army new style would be very sweet to have on the west side ingame. there are many afghan maps but only units made for the east! You then could have combined missions with these guys for instance and some afghan translators and bunch of afghan soldiers. Desert tigerstripe looks cool though, they should have made it a bit lighter like the modern day clothes.
Uziyahu--IDF 0 Posted January 2, 2006 Cotton ripstop is pretty light and flimsy. Is the U.S. Army still using it? I think this soldier model may be one of the most realistic-looking of any I've seen in any game. Don't really need so much shading both above AND below the black straps across the legs. seminara 4 Posted January 3, 2006 Just seeing this today. Really excellent texturing - well done! And that stare is great - looks as if he's gone Postal.
Bambi 0 Posted January 4, 2006 Just have a small update for you guys, I changed the look of the camo: Still tweaking the upper area though, so it's not completely done
ebud 18 Posted January 4, 2006 I think that was a MAJOR improvement. The shadows you were using before were way too strong and unrealistic. Your new textures are simply beautiful now... and more realistic But the UVmapping could use some more work. And the left leg polys look pretty screwed. Looks like a square was triangulated "wrong" and is splitting the wrong way. <ducks>
Bambi 0 Posted January 4, 2006 Yeah I probably triangulated it the wrong way, gotta fix that. A little tired so I missed it
