BIS @ E3: Confirmed!

Recommended Posts

Guest Ti0n3r

One of the things at least some of the fans want to know is what kind of computer OFP2 is optimized for... Pentium4 1.5Ghz? Pentium4 3.8Ghz?... The only info i really need. smile_o.gif

BIS have always been a supporter of low end machines so expect to play OFP2 at a 1GHz+ machine easily as well. Thats just the initial game ofcourse not the ADDONS that come after tounge_o.gif .

I think theres a interview with marek or someone on ofp.info or someplace where he confirms the requirements. And they were reasonable enough.

I really, really, really hope OFP2 is at E3 this year.

I think that BIS has been really shooting themselves in the foot by keeping so quiet about OFP2. There are a lot of tactical shooters coming out that bear more than a passing resemblence to OFP, but they have big marketing budgets and big names behind them. I love BIS, but they and Codemasters don't exactly have the marketing muscle that EA or Ubi do, and marketing is what ultimately sells games.

They don't need to flood the world with info (which would be counter-productive, actually. Over-hyping something is as bad as under-hyping it,) but releasing even early renders of models, technical details about the engine, and a few planned gameplay refinements would start getting people in the community excited and would begin getting the word out to people unaware of OFP. Obviously they don't want to reveal everything, but silence may be hurting things more than helping them with (supposedly) only a year to release.

I think it'd be a very good idea to start the hype machine up ASAP lest OFP2 get lost in the shuffle. I'd hate to see that happen. E3 would be a great place to do this since it's pretty much guaranteed coverage.

I will agree on that.

I hadn't heard about OFP at all when I suddenly just found it in the dark corner of the gameshop. At that time I didn't have internet but I bought alot of magazines about games, but still there was no review or preview of OFP in the magazines.

None of my geeky friends have never heard about it either.

This means only that BIS and Codemasters need to give the world more info this time, so that OFP2 will not come in the same dark corner of the gameshop that OFP was in.

I see alot of other games from other publishers that's not on the list, which ought to be at E3. So this list is by no means final. We'll just have to wait for the official lineup from Codies themselves.

But if it comes to this (only showing OFP for Xbox and not OFP 2), my predictions from some time back comes true... sad_o.gifmad_o.gif

39 days left to E3.

I will say this; if nothing is shown from OFP 2 or any info given on OFP 2 at either E3 or before this summer - what will the community do?

We were greatly disappointed on numerous occations during 2004 (OFP 2 first being announced, then pulled from E3 and the delay announcement in august as the worst cases). How much more can we take?

I know patience is a virtue... but so much time has passed without any info on OFP 2, that BIS and Codies should really start giving us some info on what's going on. But I guess they have their reasons for it... rock.gif

Leave. I have already done that for a few weeks.. days.

Xbox version is not worth it, PC is were the money and people are.

EDIT:

It may sounds like I just just complain and complain but silence from producers is not good, whatever it's about game producers or other types of producers.

I don´t expect anything of OFP2 shown on E3 this year. Maybe next year, but not this year. Would be kind of stupid of BIS to show something this year when other Game studios can copy their ideas instantly. It´s still a long time to OFP2. Time that could be used by other, bigger studios to jump on the wagon and use BIS ideas for their own products.

BUT I have to agree that the complete silence about OFP2 doesn´t serve the community right. A little hint here and there, a screenshot here and there certainly would not hurt...

Even if it´s supersecret, a screenshot of work in progress would

be a highlight for the community that still upholds the OFP spirit.

Placebo, you are our link to BIS in this case. And I guess you can understand our grasp for info on OFP2. Can you talk to Marek about that ?

It really would be something BIS and OFP2 could benefit from.

When I read gaming mags I see work in progress pics for almost any game that will come someday, wich has a good promotional effect. OFP 1 was promoted badly prior and after it´s release. Will that be the same with OFP 2 ?

As we can see with other programs in the making the level of interest raises dimensionally by a few pics only.

I know BIS has the golden rule of not-releasing anything. But if that´s the best way to keep interest in the product alive or even raise attention within people who know nothing about OFP 2 at all is questionable.

Just my 2 cents.

It's obvious that they feel we don't need/deserve an explanation on the matters. Why? You tell me... sad_o.gif

I wonder if we'll ever get any explanations on what's been going on the last year and a half. Or if they'll just release the games and stick to give information on just the games.

I've solved the case again!

I know why they won't give us any info. It's just that they want EVERYBODY to forget about the game, then when it's all over (you know, in 2023), then big news come: "OPERATION FLASHPOINT REBIRTH!"

Apparently rebirths are more popular than SEQUELS

No need to thank me

I was under the impression that it is the publisher, not the developer that determines what games are shown at E3.... perhaps we should ask Codemasters what the hell is going on, they ought to know.

So even if codies do put up a OFP2 stall , how will they know what to present or what not and explaining the technical details. I thought this was best suitable for the developer to do. What for are publishers involved in this? rock.gif
