Here is part of the headlight assembly.  I had a friend of mine take the picture while I held my calipers in position.  As you can see, the measurement I took comes out to 101.52mm (3.996850394â€).

Great news to me! The Scorpion is probably my favourite non Russian AFV, It's the fastest tank in the world correct?

It set some sort of roadspeed record alright, although that was a stripped down version specifically for setting that record.

They are nonetheless extremely nippy, and can go places that infantrymen can't.

Like over bogs and up ridiculously steep slopes.

Normal is relative.  For most people it would not be normal.  For me it is normal to have various military items around for research purposes.  I am very picky about accuracy of certain things, so only by examining the real thing am I able to satisfy my own stringent standards.

It is also not normal for most people to drive around with an empty MRE box and “a certain other item†in the trunk of my car, but yet it is normal for me.

The CVR(T) headlight assembly is being borrowed from it’s owner as it is just a spare one.  I am hoping to arrange the use of a CMM to accurately plot the backside of the headlight assembly.  I will return it to the guy I am borrowing it from when I am satisfied with the dimensional data I collect from it.  Ultimately, this is being done for a 1/87th scale model.

@ Mar. 17 2006,19:04)]Hi jefec, Do you still need interior pictures of the FV104 Samaritan?

I know a guy that has an operational Scorpion (he gave me a ride in it last year). Also, I know another guy that has a FV105 Sultan, but I do not know him as well as the first guy, so access to that will be a little harder (but I am hoping to be able to visit him sometime).  The Sultan currently has engine trouble, but I hope to get a ride in it later this year.

Yes please, Samaritan images are very rare, and if possible then yes on the Sultan too. Thanks very much wink_o.gif

In about an hour from the time of this post, I will be visiting with the guy that owns the Scorpion.  Any request for a specific dimension?  Contact me via PM.

i have a question...

will there be a update of allk the landrovers so that they have UKF units as crew instead of bis crew as they do now?

oh, and how is the work on the chally going? biggrin_o.gif

no, the landrovers will continue to use west soldiers for now. We have no intention to revist old addons at this stage. We dont see the need to 'force' people to download our infantry because our land rovers require them, i rather let people download them because they want to.

another reason was that we never released a des pack, hence never had a crew to put into the dessie land rovers, so we decided west crew across the board was better.

Aye, I noticed em aswell, theres also a new shot of the Chally from what I can see. From the shots of the troops I see a new head model (possibly Llauma's head) and new DMP texures I think. The GPMG the guys holding in one of them looks "re-vamped" aswell. biggrin_o.gif

Your private use so its fine,

As for the other chaps noticing the sigs, keep a close eye on our forums as we update the site at least once a week at the moment.

Shadow, yes if its for personal use then i dont see the problem. Our newer/updated land rovers and vehicles will use the new DPM 2 pack (depending on what gets finished when) but until then, i think editing the config your end is the 'best' option.

is it the sabre or scimitar with increased ammunition storage huh.gif

According to one source, the load out is currently 160 rounds of 30mm ammunition and 3000 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition for both vehicles.

Sabre is on issue to the Reconnaissance Platoons of Armoured and Mechanised Infantry Battalions.

The only advantages I know of Sabre over Scimitar is a lower profile due to the Fox turret and the fitting of a coaxial chaingun (same as fitted to Warrior and Challenger 2) instead of the GPMG.

Essentially Sabre consists of the Scorpion chassis fitted with the turret of a Fox.

The disadvantage is that it is crewed by Infantry wink_o.gif

Another news blog smile_o.gif

Quote[/b] ]UKF NEWS

27th March 2006

So another week, and a little bit more to chat about. Things have been going from strength to strength recently, with many projects entering their final MP testing, and others seeing first light ingame. We're not going to tell you which, but I'm sure if you keep and eye out on our signature banners there should be a few new pictures for you to view. We'll have news on those projects when its time.

We also appologise for the last batch of news for not showing any images of the Scorpion CVRT (There were many images taken, and the best selected for the news post, I just hadn't realised that there were no Scorpions in the pictures). So to make up for my mistake, here are a couple of ingame promos of the CVRT Scorpion. Please note that these are obviously still beta images, and that the untextured areas have since been completed. Better late than never!

as always, to see the pictures, an exclusive video and news about UKF recruitment, please go to our website smile_o.gif
