Quote[/b] ]nope... they're soldiers, not rambo

Actually I meant so they can use parachute addons.

Or do they not drop in with their heavy weapons in real life?

Not sure about the HMG but know that people jump in with GPMGs (I have a couple of times) not nice, but it's normal if your unit uses them.

I think with the HMG it may get broken down into barrel and body, but not sure if it goes in the blokes weapon bundle or not.

Ignore this. I missed the point! Sorry tankie

@squadron i have som pictures from a combat and survuval magazine with those Istec mounts and i have seen a WMIK in Afghanistan with a Mk19 the only problem was it was being operated by US Delta because Hummers cant get up the roads... C&S also says that the panther maybe in service sooner because of deployments to Afghanistan...

if you like i will scan the relavent pages for you and send them via rapidshare or MSN

over and out wink_o.gif

*edit*

those minimi mounts i'm led to think because of the 5.56 issue they would most likely be used for CQC like the sort of stuff that ? quick target aquisition and rapid execution of the enemy, compared to a L1a1 a twin minimi mount would be ideal dont you think? huh.gif

perhaps, but the only twin mount i've ever seen on british vehicles is a twin gpmg... 7.62 is more effective than 5.56.

you answered your own question with regards to the wmik then - they do accept a Mk19 weapon mounted onto them, but the british forces simply done use them on our wmiks... what the americans do to our lovely vehicle is their own choice tounge2.gif

the idea behind the mk19 was special forces use if i memory serves me correctly, but like most things it never got adopted as the need simple wasnt there it seems. On any account, british special forces have begun to cease using the land rover anyway

Combat and survival?? Noooo thanks!

And you don't execute the enemy!! (unless you're an insurgent).

Added to that you don;t use CQC(?huh.gif) weapons on a WIMIK!!!!!

Actually I don't think a twin minimi would be that good, more weapons to clean, two guns to mess about with ammo during a re-load (that alone would make it not the ideal quick reaction weapon). And top be honest a bit Waltish.

Take combat and survival with a pinch of salt pal.

P.S. The USSF may use landies but not WIMIKS as all the WIMIK kit is local purchae, they do however have their own landies with bits and bobs on.

i think that your right about the minimi thing gimpys would be better.

what i ment by CQC was urban warfare not open fields and daisys

What series Land Rover ambulance are you doing?

the pulse land rover was originally designed for the british army, but other nations have adopted similiar versions, notable the czech. We're doing the current pulse ambulance, based on the wolf chassis.

helping_hand, what the US SF do with the landrovers they aquire off us is entirely up to them of course. Im very aware that the mk19 can be mounted on the wmik, but like i said, i've never come across a picture of a british wmik in combat using it, and nor have our advisors who've used the wmiks.

Like I said you will find that it chances are it's not a WIMIK but looks close o it, WIMIK is based on a Wolf Landrover chassis. If I remember correctly we are the only ones to actually have Wolf landies due to some nice EU ruling that came in just after the rovers were taken into service (hence them being rushed in and no replacements available). The Americans will have a custom kit on it built to their specifications.

Combat and Survival are sometimes ok but more often than not they hype things up a bit and do have a tendancy to get facts wrong. It's aimed at Cadets, airsofters and people who like to think they know everything without actually having done it.

I hope you mean single GPMG. The whole point of P UKF is to create realistic and correct addons rather than made up kit.

Ok mate never heard it called that before. I'll get it written into the PAM.

Quote[/b] ]And one more question. Is the FCLV Panther going to replace all  Land Rovers or just some special versions ?

The Panther's designed to replace and supplement certain specialist versions of Land Rover, Saxon and some CVR(T)s, such as command and reconnaissance vehicles, it will also be used to transport special-role troops. It's being quoted as a replacement for the Ferret armoured car as it's designed to fulfil a specialist role that's been covered by all of the above vehicles, none of which have been especially well suited for the job.

It wont be deployed on a scale anywhere near that of the current Land Rover fleet.

And Matt, Dutch Marines also use Wolfs IIRC, they don't have the same WMIK as us for theirs though.

AFAIK, Americans use Land Rover, Ranger Special Operation Vehicles, which aren't quite the same as the British Wolf/WMIK; IIRC they're based on old Defender chassis with a four-door set-up rather than the two-door ones we have.

Alvis' Scarab lost out to the Iveco MLV (now named Panther) for the FCLV contract. I think Alvis marketed the MLV with Iveco though.
