Daniel 0 Posted December 5, 2005 This is Mr Nesbitt of Harlow New Town. Mr Nesbit would you stand up please. (after a pause - nothing happens) Mr Nesbitt has learnt the value of not being seen. However he has chosen a very obvious piece of cover.

hazmatt 0 Posted December 8, 2005 are you doing or gonna do a L98 CGP variant of the SA80? i fire them off at air cadets and was wondering if ya doing them in OFP
Messiah 2 Posted December 8, 2005 not a chance used to fire them at my cadets years back, and they were awful things - we are introducing some new versions of the SA80s soonish, but it wont include the cadet rifle. Who wants single shot, semi auto, when you have an assault rifle (by the way, do like that sig with the GPMG and the kid - very famous pic - nice one)

R0adki11 3949 Posted December 8, 2005 are you guys going to release your milian AT any time soon and what about that fancy landrover with the milian AT on top, that thing looked very impressive.
Messiah 2 Posted December 8, 2005 as huey said, both in time - the WMIK (landrover with milan on top thingy) pack 2 is close to release, the only thing that's stopped it is the very annoying, yet ever present lack of the 'gunner view' in MG car class thats screwing things around. im pretty sure i have a fix, but R/L is pretty intense right now - from the 16th i have 2 months of holiday to fill, so it should be out soon after
Imshi-Yallah 0 Posted December 9, 2005 Any chance that the WMIK AI could be modified or cajoled via scripting into keeping its distance from the enemy a bit more instead of cheerfuly cruising into SA effective range and trying to use its HMG like a pistol?
Messiah 2 Posted December 9, 2005 thats more of an AI engagement range issue with the HMG weapon - easy to 'fix' but its trying to get a balance between it doing what you've outlined, and standing off 1k and mowing everything down. I'll look into it
Imshi-Yallah 0 Posted December 11, 2005 Personally I've got no problem with the WMIK being Pwn Monster, I never fight against them ingame anyway
Messiah 2 Posted December 11, 2005 fair enough, but others do - i must admit, that i personally forgot to really test how the AI handled the weapons and their engagement - the way the UKF vehicle weapons work currently, is that they all share the same configs and weapons (ukf_weapons.pbo) and the WMIK uses the HMG weapons and ammo - these were first developed with our Support weapons, and the AI engagement seemed pretty good to me then - this may have changed from its intergration into a vehicle, and will be looked into before pack 2 is released. Imshi-Yallah 0 Posted December 11, 2005 Well on a more serious note, I really do find the WMIKs left in any way to their own devices tend to be a liability as they basically drive straight into enemy positions and start blazing away at pistol range. I'm not any sort of expert on WMIK employment but I know that if we were to deploy a .5 on the tripod we'd fire on the post if at all possible, and if we had to direct engage say for support of offensive operations or if our escorting rifflemen had proven useless you'd still want a good 800m engagement range.
Messiah 2 Posted December 11, 2005 but that's real life... whereas in flashpoint an 800m engagement range, whilst realistic, becomes a problem. Hardly any of the units out there currently engage that far out, so would become veritable mince meat to the 50cal i'll try and balance something between realistic, and flashpoint and see where it gets us - i agree that these things are primarily a stand off weapon, acting as a heavy weapons platform. In retrospect, you can just order the driver to hold his ground and designate targets for the gunner
Imshi-Yallah 0 Posted December 12, 2005 But thats so...much...effort. Well what about the possibility of scripting .5 support as a CoC style artillery weapon. What could be more christmassy than a nice stream of tracers from 2km away? That way people could have their arcadey battlewagon but purists could use the vehicles effectively in a realistic fashion. http://img.photobucket.com/albums....735.jpg ]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v163/Imshi-Yallah/ARW3.jpg
