denoir 0 Posted November 18, 2004 I don't think I could easily live in Japan. The culture and society is so very, very different. I've had Japanese neighbours here in Stockholm and we got along splendidly, but, with an exception of one girl who had lived in Sweden for a couple of years, we couldn't really connect. Their sense of humor, their interests etc were so radically different from mine that it was really dificult to "level". I think that Japan is a far too conservative and strict society for me. And at the same time, those that are rebelling against it are doing it excessively as well.
xawery 0 Posted November 18, 2004 well, as they say that pim fortuyn became the biggest dutchman ever, i want to get out of here as soon as possible... He didn't. After all was said and done, it turned out William of Orange got the most votes. Anyway, Scotland. Preferably Glasgow. Wet, cold, and good whisky. Hmm, if not Scotland, then perhaps Cracow, Budapest or Prague. Beatiful, old cities, with beatiful, young girls. And the best part being, I can still do all those things! Whee:)
da12thMonkey 1943 Posted November 19, 2004 Japan or Australia for the food and booze as well as the scenery, though I honestly love living in the UK and can't really imagine living elsewhere full-time. I would have said China also, it's got some bloody fantastic scenery and an interesting culture but I don't think I could hack living in a state like that. colonel_klink 0 Posted November 19, 2004 Utopia! The holy grail of civilisation. Quote[/b] ]UTOPIAThe first step is to define what Utopia is, and set what goal man should strive to reach. Utopia is generally defined as a place of perfection. Once man knows Utopia is the community he/she wants to live in, that community can be built. The next step is to determine what is needed to assemble that community. There are five basic elements to the most popular Utopia. These elements are: Everlasting life; All good and no evil; All tangible and intangible needs and wants without any required effort to obtain them; A perfect balance between the individual and society; and Complete knowledge. To sum it up ... Utopia is a perfect place where nothing bad happens... Failing that, some tropical isle, swaying palm trees, clear blue water, gorgeous dusky maidens... and not a jealous husband in sight
ozanzac 0 Posted November 19, 2004 I wouldn't mind moving to one of the Scandinavian countries, Germany, or European Mediterranean countries for a few years. But after a while, I’d yearn for Australia again.

IceFire 0 Posted November 19, 2004 Well if I couln't live in the U.S. anymore ... Hmm, what a decision. I honestly think I would pick Russia. I would have to learn Russian ofcourse. But it seems to be a very nice country. It's certainly not overpopulated. The weather is nice. They like vodka. And they seem to be a very warm friendly people and patriotic people. I would certainly pick that to be my first choice in a foreign land.
Tovarish 0 Posted November 19, 2004 Every now and then Miami starts looking tempting, seeing as I have so many relatives there....but then I come to my senses. (although my mom, sister and stepdad will likely be moving there next year, and they think I'm the crazy one for staying)
bn880 5 Posted November 19, 2004 Eh? Well it's your business (wink wink) but isn't moving there kind of like my grand parents moving to Germany in 1940? Sort of? I have this thing against moving into nations who are in major ass conflicts personally, I said to my family; sure I'll move to the states, if you buy me level 3 body armor. kind of a sick joke i guess
Tovarish 0 Posted November 19, 2004 Eh? Â Well it's your business (wink wink) but isn't moving there kind of like my grand parents moving to Germany in 1940? Â Sort of? lol. Yeah, that's sort of what I'm thinking. Sure there's a lot of Cubans there but most don't share my mind set - they're just the extreeme oposite of the communists which in my books makes them just as bad. bn880 5 Posted November 19, 2004 I agree, that kind of mentality is only behind the times. A lot of people were/are like that in Poland, and it doesn't totally work. Everything needs to be balanced it seems, balanced slightly to the left of course. By the way, the body armor joke came mostly from the Assault rifle legalization... mostly

brgnorway 0 Posted November 19, 2004 I'd definately move to somewhere in Italy - maybe Tuscany or Calabria or any other place really as long as it is in Italy I love the chaos, the food, the cars, and the people in general. Nothing beats a daydream consisting of taking the old Giulietta Sprint Speciale on a spin through the hillsides of Tuscany for a couple of hours only to arrive home to a nice bottle of Montepulciano or Barolo. It's a dream I hope to make into reality one day!

Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted November 19, 2004 One of the Ionian islands in the Adriatic, or perhaps Spetses or Aegina in the Saronic Bay. Close enough to Athens to not lose a day travelling, far away enough to not have to bother with traffic, smog etc No place like home...*sigh* If I can get enough money together and some funding, I'd also like to buy one of the few remaining Greek buildings in Smyrna and turn it into a museum to remind the Turks of what they destroyed 80 yrs ago - and I would keep a small flat upstairs, for whenever I visit
