I hate it when people say things such as "I get offended at nude pictures" EVEN WHEN IT IS ANIMATED! I mean, for one, it is the human body, get used to it, everyone is a human and we have been alive for god knows how long (though im not religious) and people still haven't matured to the level that they can accept other's bodies. But anyways don't get me debating. I think you have done an AWESOME job on these models and you also didnt use an excessive amount of polygons so that is playable. I cant wait to see this mod finished so that the old, less detailed models in ofp are replaced with better, more detailed and correct models.

One thing these need is a female voice set, maybe two. It'd be shame if you heard these girls talking with deep and dark male voice.

I am doing this, and my girlfriend and I are slowly getting there.   biggrin_o.gif I'm also incorporating some Aussie accents and british accents for the guys for all radio messages issued by OFP soldiers.

I'm still working on the female voice demonstrator player model, but your models blow mine completely away.

I like the initial nude models, it's the best way to get proportion and body dynamics first and foremost, which is the whole sticking point of your project, in fact it's how most 3d animators/modellers for big budget animated 3D movies do it.

erm the mod thing

well as i said i wont release the models the public as such

as a PBO addon due i can really imagine some childish behaviour....

any way thats just a minor point

clothing

im still argueing if i shall jsut release the basis models once completed and let mods create suits...

or

create a bunch of replacement models/textures so parts od the basis models can be put together individually

but i first have to finsih the otehr stuff before facing this biggrin_o.gif

about the textures i dont know

cuz theyre depending my conflict above

as for the polygon question

u of course wont need all detail once u use for exampel a suite or similar therefore u will replace certain body parts

which will of course reduce poly count

(like one single foot on my model has about 200 faces

replaced with a boot it should be around 50)

for the mods who are intrested in this

best is to mail me

cuz id do them individually for the mods needs

like for sst or uscm...

about the faces

ill try to make it work with the old ones

but aswell try to implement new ones

i hope i have covered all

Glad to see u have taken the initiative to improve the human model for the community. However, do note that the reason why the ofp humans are blocky is because the original designers intended to place about 600 3d soldiers on the screen to battle it out. In order to achieve that, they had to cut down severly on the detailing so as to have a playerable game with less tax on the video card, and is not because the original designers were lousy at creating humans....

Uh, I'm no modeller, but even at close distance with only one soldier on the screen at a time the default upper torso is practically rectangular, especially when looking at the back.

And LODs can take care of the need to have so many units on screen at once.

By the way, I really like that you are incorporating the different body shapes:

Ectomorph: characterised as tall and slim/thin.

Endomorph: rounded and with a generous waist size.

Mesomorph: muscular and athletic looking.

Hahaha , all the prepubescent's getting sweaty palms allready . For the sake of humanity , model them with clothes on !! biggrin_o.gif

Plus the other factor to consider is the faces drawn when they wont be seen . It would be the equivilant of modeling an exterior and interior in the same LOD.

My suggestion is to have seperate units without clothes for possible hostage scenario's , but the rest should allready clothed.

Other possibility....

The option to change cloths in-game , for infiltrations etc.

Which isn't good unless your makeing a prono mod.

Those female model pictures there kinda "Bear all"

and yeah I do take offence at them.

It's excellent without clothes. It's the only way to model your own clothes in a realistic manner. Every artist can tell you that you will have to know what a naked body looks like, if you want to recreate a person with realistic clothing.

You can create dressed models for all I care, but if it is meant to be a standard, clothing will halve the value of your work.

as i stated before u can repalce all parts of the uap basis with other parts

for exampel u stick teh new hand and head on a soldier suit

or if u create new civilian (lets take a female)

u can for exampel model it so taht it has a top on so u can see teh belly an etc etc

hope u understand now...

One question from me:

I see that you modelled her hands different to the BIS default hands. Did you find a way to animate them or how will it look ingame?

yes the hands are different

aswell as teh rest of the body :P

dunno if anyone ahs tried to animate teh hands

and if it even works

but if so i will aniamte them or at least make propper selections (fingers etc)

bip off this isent a nudist camp so put some cloth on when you out side.

I must say that these are some impresive models i just come to think of the nightmare it must be when you want to make selections on the body so it will look somewhat good when played whit. But i like the Idear whit having them as a maniking so you can make realistic cloth. smile_o.gif

It's excellent without clothes. It's the only way to model your own clothes in a realistic manner. Every artist can tell you that you will have to know what a naked body looks like, if you want to recreate a person with realistic clothing.

ffs, its jus a load of code. Its not like its gonna jump out of the computer all of a sudden. Anyway, it is a gd way to start. If you just make 1 with clothes U will invaribly end up making it too thick/thin in places
