The best war movie ever

Windtalkers is considered a war movie?

I remember the massive ball of fire spewing behind Nicholas Cage as he flew in the air after throwing a satchel at a bunker.

Or the American soldier heroically disguising himself as the enemy, and walking up out of nowhere with a Captain at one end of his bayonet. And, after which, the awsome Captain holding off an entire Japanese army in a bunker while our dusguised hero calling in coordinates.

I thought it was a horrible movie

The fact that I remember a few of the scenes is just scary.

Kelly's Heroes that is a good movie.

I also remember one I think called Toy Soldiers, not really a war movie but its about a bunch of kids at a College that is taken over by terrorists and eventually Delta Force or someone comes and rescues it. Just remembered it from when I was a kid.

Red Dawn and A Bridge Too Far stands as my favorite.

I too will have to concur. I love that movie, and was one of the few war movies to almost bring a tear to me eye!

It's interesting that that movie was made, after the screenwriter was in Boston and found stumbled across the obscure monument (shown at the end during the credits) and realized he had heard or learned nothing about them in American history. He started doing research and wrote a screenplay about it.

I remember that movie because Whil Weaton got blown away. Something I waited 7 seasons in Star Trek: TNG to see...

I also will raise a hand for "The Patriot". Will almost idiotic in its historical liberties, and just the though of Mel Gibson as a Southern colonist, I really liked the battle scenes. THe American Revolution still is uite fascinating for me, and to see the battles played out is amazing.

i think "Band of Brothers" are much realistic than Saving private ryan (yes i know there not 100 per cent realistic movie)

in BOB you see the advance of the company (taking point blablablalala...)

in SpR the combat are too fast...

for me to see BOB on an widescreen with an good sound is amazing ^^ SpR is too much cinema

i just saw that movie few weeks ago at late night ~3:00 PM

BTW there was a Russian move I have seen a couple of days ago on Arte. It was about two Russian POWs in Chechenya.

The title was something like "Imprisoned in the Caucasus". Included some pretty strong scenes, like a Russian soldier trading his weapon for vodka...

Some of my fawourite movies which haven't been mentioned is "Captain Conan".

I about this Black guy being held by Rebels under the lead of a guy named Holden and some rich women hires a mercinare group to rescue him from there camp in the Jungle. But all the mercinares die but one lives and rescues Charlie and takes back to the place.

Red Dawn is an awesome movie. One of the first war movies i ever got into. Another good one is guns of navarone, which i saw up here and remembered. I like the old Harrison Ford war movies.

Kelly's Heroes is great, not exactly the most accurate war film ever made, but i love that hippie tank commander.

I watched 'Tigerland' last night and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot. I thought it was a lot like Full Metal Jacket where FMJ seems brutal, and darkly comic in the excesses of its horrors Tigerland felt more emotional. I dunno if everyone'd class it as a war film though, because it's about training for Vietnam as most of Full Metal Jacket was.

Tigerland is quite good, but I wouldn't rate it as a war movie. It was more anti-war, but those two genres are often mixed anyway.
